UFC Fight Night 214: Chase Sherman vs. Josh Parisian odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 214 odds and lines between Chase Sherman and Josh Parisian, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a heavyweight bout on the main card, Chase Sherman and Josh Parisian meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 214 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 72 or UFC Vegas 64 — at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 214: Sherman vs. Parisian odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Sherman, a.k.a. “The Vanilla Gorilla”, snapped a 4-bout losing skid with a 3rd-round KO/TKO over Jared Vanderaa in early July. He hasn’t gone the distance since a unanimous-decision loss to Parker Porter in late Aug. 2021.

Parisian is coming off a 2nd-round KO/TKO win over Alan Baudot in late June, and he has alternated wins and losses in each of his last 5 fights. Since arriving at the UFC level he is 2-2, with 2 KO/TKOs, going 1-1 in those outings.

Sherman holds a 6.51-to-4.97 significant strikes landed per minute advantage, while Parisian is better in the ground game. He has managed a 1.06 takedown average, and 30.77% takedown accuracy with a 0.26 submission average.

Sherman has yet to score in any of those categories and is strictly a brawler. If Sherman is taken to the mat, he is susceptible to the tap-out. Alexandr Romanov and Jake Collier have each tapped him out in 2022.

UFC Fight Night 214: Sherman vs. Parisian picks and predictions

Records: Sherman (16-10-0) | Parisian (15-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

SHERMAN (-140) is a solid play on the 2-way line, as he looks to build upon his KO/TKO win over Vanderaa.

Since arriving at the UFC level, Sherman has been pretty inconsistent, but Parisian has also been very erratic since landing with the UFC. In addition, Parisian has had to cut weight to get down to the limit of 265 pounds, which has a lot of people questioning if his cardio will be up to snuff.

Parisian will look for a quick finish, as he knows he doesn’t have the energy to go a full 3 rounds. Sherman will weather the storm, and get the knockout finish of his own, similar to the Vanderaa fight.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-170) is a little on the pricey side, but that’s the play here.

Again, Parisian doesn’t have the energy, or he doesn’t necessarily have the desire, to go the distance. Sherman will be looking for the finish, too. There is no way this goes all the way, and this is the best bet on the board, perhaps on the entire card.

UFC Fight Night 214: Neil Magny vs. Daniel Rodriguez odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 214 odds and lines between Neil Magny and Daniel Rodriguez, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a welterweight bout on the main card, Neil Magny and Daniel Rodriguez meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 214 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 72 or UFC Vegas 64 — at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 214: Magny vs. Rodriguez odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Magny looks to bounce back after being submitted by Shavkat Rakhmonov in the 2nd round on the Tsarukyan-Gamrot card last time out in late June.

It was a rare stoppage for the 35-year-old “Haitian Sensation”, as his previous 6 bouts had all ended via decision, with 5 victories. If the veteran Magny has a weakness, it is the ground game, as he is now just 3-5 via submission in his 36 career professional bouts.

Rodriguez is looking to build on a 4-bout win streak, including a split-decision win over Li Jingliang at UFC 279 last time out in September. D-Rod has gone the distance in 4 of his last 5 fights.

Magny will look to keep this fight upright, and D-Rod isn’t terribly strong on takedowns, so that bodes well for the veteran. Magny will also look to keep Rodriguez at a distance thanks to a 6-inch reach advantage.

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 8:32 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Magny -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Rodriguez -102 (bet $102 to win $100)

UFC Fight Night 214: Magny vs. Rodriguez picks and predictions

Records: Magny (26-10-0) | Rodriguez (17-2-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Rodriguez is a punching machine, holding a huge 7.75-to-3.59 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. However, I like the fact MAGNY (-125) should be able to use his half-foot reach advantage to keep his distance and avoid a big knockout blow.

It won’t be pretty for Magny, and it will be an uphill climb. To win this fight, he is going to have to avoid the big punches D-Rod is going to want to throw, and he is going to need to avoid the mat. Can he do enough to wow the judges and win on points? I think so, but Rodriguez has the punching power to tip the scales in his favor with one big blow, so play the 2-way line lightly.

Over/Under (O/U)

Over 2.5 Rounds (-240) is a little on the expensive side, costing more than 2 times your potential return. That’s a lot, especially with a guy like Rodriguez who can win a fight with one punch.

I think Magny hangs around and draws this one out, going the distance, but even Yes (-210): Fight to go the distance is a little pricey for my liking.

PASS, and just play the 2-way line.

UFC Fight Night 214: Marina Rodriguez vs. Amanda Lemos odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 214 odds and lines between Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a women’s strawweight bout in the main event, Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 214 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 72 or UFC Vegas 64 — at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 214: Rodriguez vs. Lemos odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Rodriguez takes the walk to the octagon with a 4-bout win streak in tow, including a split-decision victory over Yan Xiaonan at UFC 272 last time out in March. She has gone the distance in 8 of her 9 fights since arriving at the UFC level, with a pair of draws.

Her only stoppage was a 2nd round KO/TKO victory over Amanda Ribas at UFC 257 on the Poirier-McGregor 2 card in late Jan. 2021. Rodriguez’s only setback with the company came in a split-decison loss to Carla Esparza in July 2020.

Lemos has been more of a finisher since arriving at the UFC level, including a submission win over Michelle Waterson-Gomez last time out in mid-July. She was tapped out by Jessica Andrade in the 1st round in the main event in late April in the fight prior.

A split-decision win over Angela Hill in Dec. 2021 is the only time she has gone the distance in her last 5 fights, and Lemos enters on a 6-1 run.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Rodriguez -240 (bet $240 to win $100) | Lemos +180 (bet $100 to win $180)

UFC Fight Night 214: Rodriguez vs. Lemos picks and predictions

Records: Rodriguez (16-1-2) | Lemos (12-2-1)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

LEMOS (+180) is an outstanding value, as she looks to top the favorite Rodriguez. The latter has played it safe, looking to wow the judges with the technical aspects of MMA, while Lemos is a brawler.

Rodriguez is a Muay Thai specialist and a striker, while Lemos is a punching machine and a whirling dervish, who will want to get this fight to the mat as quickly as possible.

Lemos holds a 60.80% significant strike accuracy percentage to just 51.33% for Rodriguez, and the underdog is much better in the ground game, too. Lemos has a 1.07-to-0.20 takedown average advantage, while also posting a 57.14% takedown accuracy percentage and 0.54 submission average.

There are so many things to like about the underdog, and if she gets it to the canvas early, we could see a rare stoppage for Rodriguez, but not the way she wants.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 4.5 ROUNDS (-140) is worth a play.

Given Rodriguez’s overwhelming numbers as far as going the distance, this number is a bit of a surprise, but the books know Lemos gets plenty of finishes, and this one should be no exception.

Look for “Amandinha” to finish this one with either a submission win or KO/TKO in the neighborhood of Rounds 3 or 4.
