In a 3-round welterweight bout in the main event, Alex Morono and Joaquin Buckley meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 229 — also known as UFC Vegas 80 — at UFC Apex. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s around the UFC Fight Night 229: Morono vs. Buckley odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m. ET with the main card following on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET.

Records: Morono (23-8-0) | Buckley (16-6-0)

Morono picked up a 2nd-round submission victory last time out against Tim Means in May, bouncing back after a 3rd-round KO/TKO against Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 282. He has consecutive fights inside the distance after 3 straight unanimous-decision wins from Sept. 2021 through July 2022.

Buckley registered a 2nd-round KO/TKO against Andre Fialho last time out, rebounding from 2 straight losses. He has ended up going the distance just once in the past 4 fights, while needing the assistance of the judges in just 2 of his 10 fights at the UFC level.

The southpaw Buckley holds a 4-inch reach advantage, and he has a 1.43-to-0.29 takedown average advantage, while posting a 34.62% accuracy in the category. Morono has a 5.20-to-3.76 significant strikes landed per minute advantage.

UFC Fight Night 229: Alex Morono vs. Joaquin Buckley picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

BUCKLEY (-172) isn’t priced out of line if you simply want to declare a winner on the 2-way line. He has the 4-inch reach advantage, so he should be able to pull and push Morono in, picking and choosing his spots for attack.

In addition, going with the method of victory, Buckley’s fights overwhelming end with either a win or loss via knockout. If you like him to win, you should like BUCKLEY BY KO/TKO (+110), which is a value at plus-money.

If you want action, but do not want to declare a winner, play KO/TKO (-145) for the “how the fight will end” prop.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-166) is a strong play, as this fight is unlikely to end with the judges deciding a victor.

No (-225): Will the fight go the distance? is just a little too much risk, and not enough reward, so AVOID that particular wager.

UFC Fight Night 229: Joe Pyfer vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 229 odds between Joe Pyfer and Abdul Razak Alhassan, with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 3-round middleweight bout in the main event, Joe Pyfer and Abdul Razak Alhassan meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 229 — also known as UFC Vegas 80 — at UFC Apex. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC Fight Night 229: Pyfer vs. Alhassan odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m. ET with the main card following on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET.

Records: Pyfer (11-2-0) | Alhassan (12-5-0)

Pyfer picked up a KO/TKO against Ozzy Diaz in Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 1. That earned him a spot at the UFC level, and he has posted back-to-back 1st-round KO/TKO wins over Alen Amedovski and veteran Gerald Meerschaert.

Alhassan has struggled since achieving success early in his UFC career. The Ghana-born fighter started with 4 wins in his first 5 fights at the UFC, but he has won just twice in the past 6 bouts. However, he was able to pick up KO/TKO wins over Alessio Di Chirico and Claudio Ribeiro since Aug. 2021, keeping his career afloat.

Each of these fighters are very close in significant strikes landed per minute, with Pyfer holding the slight 3.63-to-3.54 edge. Pyfer also gets the arrow in his favor with a 1.65-to-0.97 lead in takedown average, too.

UFC Fight Night 229: Joe Pyfer vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Pyfer (-405) has been on fire to start his UFC career, but risking more than 4 times your potential is just a little too much.

Alhassan (+320) would be a tempting play if this were a few years ago, but he has really fallen off, winning just 2 times in the past 6 fights. The knockout against Di Chirico in just 17 seconds shows that he still brings plenty of heat, but he hasn’t faced a quality opponent like Pyfer in a while. He is in danger of the knockout, and playing PYFER BY KO/TKO (-140) is a much better value.

In addition, take a chance on PYFER KO/TKO & ROUND 2 (+700) in the “method & round combo” for a chance to multiply up by 7 times.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (+162) is worth a look at plus-money, even taking Pyfer in the prop above, as long as he gets the KO/TKO in the final 90 seconds of Round 2.

You cannot play No (-600): Will the fight go the distance?, however, as risking 6 times your potential return is just way too much risk and not enough reward.

UFC Fight Night 229: Grant Dawson vs. Bobby Green odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 229 odds between Grant Dawson and Bobby Green, with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 5-round lightweight bout in the main event, Grant Dawson and Bobby Green meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 229 — also known as UFC Vegas 80 — at UFC Apex. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s around the UFC Fight Night 229: Dawson vs. Green odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m. ET with the main card following on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET.

Records: Dawson (20-1-1) | Green (30-14-1)

Dawson takes the walk looking to avoid taking his first-ever loss at the UFC level. He is 8-0-1 in 9 bouts since arriving at the UFC, with his lone blemish a draw against Ricky Glenn in Oct. 2021. He has recorded 2 finishes, both via submission, in the past 3 fights, although his last outing resulted in a unanimous-decision win over Damir Ismagulov in July.

Green picked up a submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 291 last time out in late July. That followed up a no-contest against Jared Gordon, as he accidentally head-butted Gordon going in for a jab. The win over Ferguson was huge, snapping a 2-bout losing streak and the no-contest. He has won just 3 times in the past 8 bouts, losing twice via KO/TKO, and twice via unanimous decision.

Green has an overwhelming 6.14-to-2.99 significant strikes landed per minute, while Dawson is much more accurate at 63.90% to just 54.88% for the challenger. Dawson also dominates in takedowns, leading 3.70-to-1.21 in takedown average, and 1.48-to-0.32 in submission average.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Dawson -490 (bet $490 to win $100) | Green +380 (bet $100 to win $380)
  • Over/Under: 4.5 rounds (Over +170 | Under -220)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes +180 | No -235)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

UFC Fight Night 229: Grant Dawson vs. Bobby Green picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Dawson (-490) will cost you nearly 5 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

Green (+380) has struggled with consistency, and Dawson is just such a versatile fighter, capable of taking him down a number of ways. I actually like Dawson’s ability on the canvas, and see DAWSON BY SUBMISSION (+130) at plus-money for the method of victory as the much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

Under 4.5 Rounds (-220) and No: Will the fight go the distance (-235) are each much too expensive.

Dawson has ended up getting the finish in 2 of his past 3 fights, and 5 of the past 8 outings. Green has ended up with finishes in 3 straight fights if you take out the no-contest against Gordon.

AVOID.
