UFC Fight Night 193 weigh-in video: Aspen Ladd overweight in troubling, drawn-out trip to scale

Aspen Ladd had another concerning trip to the scale at UFC Fight Night 193 official weigh-ins.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Aspen Ladd[/autotag] had another concerning trip to the scale at UFC Fight Night 193 official weigh-ins.

Ladd (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who has been part of some worrisome scenes before when weighing in, came in heavy for her women’s bantamweight fight with Macy Chiasson (7-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) on Saturday’s card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

At first, Ladd walked to the scale fully clothed to check her weight. She was 141.5 pounds, according to the Nevada Athletic Commission, then she stripped down for her official attempt.

UFC officials brought out the wall to block Ladd while she stripped naked, but registering her weight was no easy feat. Ladd was shaking all over the place, and could not be still enough to get an official weight. She was then asked to step off the scale, where she stood idle until towels were brought in.

Following some bizarre commotion and multiple people around her, Ladd got back on the scale. She kept on shaking and was having difficulty controlling herself until she finally got her weight read. She was officially 137 pounds, which is still one pounds over the allowable non-title limit for her contest with Chiasson.

It remains to be seen what type of fine Ladd will be issued, or if the matchup is under consideration to be canceled.

Ladd and Chiasson were originally scheduled to fight in July, but Chiasson withdraw just before weigh-ins due to a foot injury.

Leonardo Santos out of UFC Fight Night 193 bout vs. Alexander Hernandez

The 41-year-old Jose Aldo confidant won’t be fighting Oct. 2.

UFC Fight Night 193 is down a man.

Lightweight [autotag]Leonardo Santos[/autotag] has withdrawn from his scheduled Oct. 2 matchup against [autotag]Alexander Hernandez[/autotag] for undisclosed reasons.

Two people with knowledge of the situation recently confirmed the change to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Hernandez (12-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC) is expected to remain on the card against a new opponent, who will be announced in the coming days. The reason for Santos’ withdrawal is not known, though Brazilian fighter hinted in a recent Instagram post that the fight may be delayed due to “personal reasons.”

The fight cancellation is the sixth in the UFC for Santos (18-4 MMA, 7-1-1 UFC), who has only fought nine times over the span of his eight-year promotional tenure. The 41-year-old Jose Aldo sparring partner is coming off the first loss of his promotional tenure – a knockout defeat to Grant Dawson in March.

As for Hernandez, the 28-year-old has had ups and downs in recent fights. Following his eye-catching knockout of Beneil Dariush in his promotional debut, Hernandez has gone 3-3 while alternating wins and losses.

With the change, the UFC Fight Night 193 lineup includes:

  • Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker

Diego Ferreira injured, out of Oct. 2 bout against Grant Dawson

An exciting lightweight matchup at UFC Fight Night 193 is now off due to injury.

The injury bug has affected an exciting lightweight matchup.

[autotag]Diego Ferreira[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Grant Dawson[/autotag] was scheduled to take place on Oct. 2 at UFC Fight Night 193, however, due to an injury to Ferreira (17-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC), the bout will no longer take place on that date.

Multiple sources confirmed the injury with MMA Junkie, but it is unclear if Dawson (17-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will remain on the card or if the fight will be rebooked at a later time. The specifics of Ferreira’s injury were not revealed.

The booking would have served as Ferreira’s third bout of 2021, as he looked to get back to his winning ways after dropping two straight against Beneil Dariush and Gregor Gillespie. Prior to this year’s skid, Ferreira was on a six-fight win streak, capped off by a second-round submission over former champion Anthony Pettis.

On the other hand, Dawson has incredible momentum behind him as he is on an eight-fight win streak following his lone career loss in 2016. Since entering the UFC in 2019, Dawson has finished three of his five opponents during his undefeated run with the promotion, most recently dispatching Leonardo Santos via last-second, third-round knockout.

With this bout off the card, the updated UFC Fight Night 193 lineup includes:

  • Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker
  • Antonina Shevchenko vs. Casey O’Neill
  • Bethe Correia vs. Karol Rosa
  • Jared Gordon vs. Joe Solecki
  • Grant Dawson vs. Diego Ferreira
  • Sean Soriano vs. opponent TBA
  • Gaetano Pirrello vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade
  • Kyle Daukaus vs. Kevin Holland
  • Jamie Mullarkey vs. Devonte Smith
  • Macy Chiasson vs. Aspen Ladd
  • Johnny Eduardo vs. Alejandro Perez
  • Alexander Hernandez vs. Leonardo Santos
  • Misha Cirkunov vs. Krzysztof Jotko
  • Alex Oliveira vs. Niko Price
