UFC 285: Mateusz Gamrot vs. Jalin Turner odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 285 odds between Mateusz Gamrot vs. Jalin Turner, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a lightweight bout on the main card, Mateusz Gamrot takes on Jalin Turner Saturday at UFC 285 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 285: Gamrot vs. Turner odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The early prelims are on ESPN+ at 5:30 p.m. ET, with the prelims on ESPNews/ESPN+ starting at 8 p.m. ET. The main card begins on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Gamrot looks to bounce back after a unanimous-decision loss to Beneil Dariush last time out at UFC 280 in October. That defeat snapped a 4-bout win streak that dated back to Oct. 2020.

The Polish fighter, a.k.a. “Gamer”, has shown an ability to get it done in a number of ways. He had a unanimous-decision win over Arman Tsarukyan in June 2022, knocked out Diego Ferreira in Dec. 2021 and submitted Jeremy Stephens in July 2021 in the 1st round.

Turner takes the walk to the octagon with physical advantages. He stands 5 inches taller than his counterpart and holds a 6.5-inch reach advantage. The southpaw also holds 6.48-to-3.26 significant strikes landed per minute advantage.

The key for Turner is if he can keep this fight upright. Gamrot is a tremendous wrestler, and he has a 4.66 takedown average compared to just 1.14 for Turner.

UFC 285: Gamrot vs. Turner picks and predictions

Records: Gamrot (21-2-0) | Turner (13-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

TURNER (+170) is worth a roll of the dice as a rather moderate underdog.

Gamrot is coming off a loss, and Turner has the tools to make this a long evening for the Polish fighter. “The Tarantula” also holds the physical advantages in height and reach, and will able to keep Gamrot at a distance.

As long as Turner can avoid going down to the canvas, letting Gamrot use his wrestling to his advantage, METHOD OF VICTORY: TURNER BY POINTS (+600) is also a solid play for a chance to multiply your initial wager by 6 times.

However, if it does go to the mat, Turner does have 3 wins in the past 4 fights via submission, so METHOD OF VICTORY: TURNER BY SUBMISSION (+1000) is also worth a look for a small-unit play.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 ROUNDS (+125) is worth a look at plus-money, as I think Turner can keep Gamrot at a distance and avoid the stoppage.

Gamrot has gone the distance in his past 2 fights, and 3 of his 6 bouts at the UFC level. Turner has 5 straight stoppages, with 3 wins via submission, and 2 via TKO/KO. Still, Gamrot is easily the fiercest opponent Turner has faced, and this one should go long into the night.

UFC 285: Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 285 odds between Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a women’s flyweight championship bout on the main card, Valentina Shevchenko takes on Alexa Grasso Saturday at UFC 285 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 285: Shevchenko vs. Grasso odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The early prelims are on ESPN+ at 5:30 p.m. ET, with the prelims on ESPNews/ESPN+ starting at 8 p.m. ET. The main card begins on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Shevchenko lost a title fight by split decision against Amanda Nunes back at UFC 215 in Sept. 2017. She rebounded with a submission win against Priscila Cachoeira in Feb. 2018, and that started a 9-bout win streak.

Shevchenko picked up a unanimous-decision win over Joanna Jedrzejczyk to earn the strap in Dec. 2018 at UFC 231, and she has defended the belt successfully in 7 straight bouts. That includes a split-decision win over Taila Santos last time out at UFC 275 in June 2022. In 4 of her past 7 bouts, Shevchenko has earned KO/TKO victories.

Grasso gets her first crack at a strap, but she enters as a decisive underdog. The Mexican fighter has won 4 straight bouts, with 3 of those ending via unanimous-decision victory. She has gone the distance in 5 of her last 6 fights.

Grasso holds a 5.14-to-3.19 significant strikes landed per minute advantage, although the champ is far more accurate at 68.53% to just 53.45% for the challenger. Shevchenko is much better in the takedown game, posting a 2.53 takedown average with a 64.06% takedown accuracy percentage.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Shevchenko -800 (bet $800 to win $100) | Grasso +550 (bet $100 to win $550)
  • Over/Under: 4.5 rounds (Over +120 | Under -150)
  • Will the fight go the distance? Yes (+125) | No (-170)

UFC 285: Shevchenko vs. Grasso picks and predictions

Records: Shevchenko (23-3-0) | Grasso (15-3-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Shevchenko (-800) will cost you 8 times your potential return, which is far too expensive for a standalone play or to include in a multi-fighter parlay.

Instead, get a little more specific. METHOD OF VICTORY: SHEVCHENKO BY KO/TKO (+195) for a chance to nearly double up your initial wager is a much more enticing play. She has won 3 of his past 5 fights via KO/TKO, and I like that slightly better than Shevchenko by points (+185).

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 4.5 ROUNDS (-150) is worth a look, albeit at a rather moderate price.

While Grasso has gone the distance in 5 of the past 6 fights, she hasn’t faced anyone quite as versatile as the champ. Shevchenko can do it with her punching power, as well as her ability on the mat, and should be able to get this one done with a KO/TKO in the Round 3 or 4 neighborhood.

UFC 285: Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 285 odds between Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a heavyweight championship bout in the main event, Jon Jones takes on Ciryl Gane Saturday at UFC 285 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 285: Jones vs. Gane odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The early prelims are on ESPN+ at 5:30 p.m. ET, with the prelims on ESPNews/ESPN+ starting at 8 p.m. ET. The main card begins on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Jones, a.k.a. “Bones”, returns to the octagon for the first time in 3 years due to some issues off the canvas. Jones won a title fight at UFC 247 against Dominick Reyes in his most recent match on Feb. 8, 2020. Bones has won and defended all 15 title fights he’s had — with the exception of one no-contest — since topping Mauricio Rua at UFC 128 on March 19, 2011.

It’s been a heckuva run, and a win against Gane to grab the strap would cement his legacy if he hasn’t already done so.

The Frenchman Gane rebounded from a unanimous-decision loss at UFC 270 against Francis Ngannou in Jan. 2020 with a 3rd-round KO/TKO of Tai Tuivasa last time out in the main event of a Fight Night card in early Sept. 2022.

Jones holds a 3.5-inch reach advantage, while Gane has a 5.11-to-4.30 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Both are very accurate strikers, while Jones holds the advantage in the ground game. However, Jones hasn’t had a submission win since getting Vitor Belfort to tap at UFC 152 in Sept. 2012, so don’t look for submission as a method of victory.

UFC 285: Jones vs. Gane odds

Provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:11 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Jones -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Gane +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Over/Under: 4.5 rounds (Over -155 | Under +122)
  • Will the fight go the distance? Yes (-145) | No (+105)

UFC 285: Jones vs. Gane picks and predictions

Records: Jones (26-1-0) | Gane (11-1-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

JONES (-175) has been away from the octagon for a while, but you can expect Bones to come right back and get it going early against Gane.

The former champ has gone the distance in 7 of the past 9 fights, and after such a long layoff, it’s likely we see this one need the judges. As a result, METHOD OF VICTORY: JONES BY POINTS (+175) is a strong play at plus money.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 4.5 ROUNDS (-155) is a little on the expensive side, but it’s a strong play. YES (-145): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE is also a solid value.

As mentioned above, Jones has gone the distance in 7 of his past 9 fights dating back to Sept. 2013. Gane has a pair of KO/TKO wins across the past 5 bouts, but the other 3 also went the distance, including his loss to Ngannou. This one should go well into the night, and the Pay-Per-View buyers will get their money’s worth.
