UFC 271: Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 271 odds and lines between Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a heavyweight fight on the main card, Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa meet Saturday at UFC 271 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Below, we analyze the UFC 271: Lewis vs. Tuivasa odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The early prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the prelims on ESPN/ESPN+ at 8 p.m., and then the main card on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Lewis, a.k.a. “The Black Beast,” has won five of the past six fights, including three KO/TKO wins in the past four outings and a loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC 265. Last time out he posted a first-round KO/TKO over Chris Daukaus in December to get back on track.

Lewis takes the walk to the octagon with a four-inch reach advantage. While Tuivasa throws a lot more punches per minute, Lewis has registered 52.08% in significant strike-accuracy percentage.

The southpaw Tuivasa also has four KO/TKO results in the past four fights, all victories, including a knockout of Augusto Sakai in Round 2 at UFC 269 in December 2011. Each of his past five fights have finished inside the distance.

UFC 271 Lewis vs. Tuivasa: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Lewis (26-8-0) | Tuivasa (14-3-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Lewis (-200) is just a little too expensive at two times your potential return. He is going to have a difficult time with the Aussie Tuivasa, too, as “Bam Bam” has recorded four consecutive KO/TKO wins. Lewis will need to carefully study and measure when to get close so he doesn’t step into a knockout blow himself.

While both of these guys have been knockout artists lately, look for this one to go on for a few rounds as they each feel each other out. Eventually, LEWIS BY KO/TKO OR DQ (-135) is a good play, but it won’t be easy.

Over/Under (O/U)

Taking No (-600): Fight to go the distance is just too expensive, even though Lewis is going to grab the finish, but it won’t be until later in the evening.

Play a two-round block of LEWIS TO WIN IN ROUND 2 (+400) and LEWIS TO WIN IN ROUND 3 (+1500). If he wins in either round, you’ll lose one end of this bet, but you’ll still be well in the black, especially if Lewis gets the finish in Round 3.

UFC 271: Jared Cannonier vs. Derek Brunson odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 271 odds and lines between Jared Cannonier vs. Derek Brunson, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a middleweight fight on the main card, Jared Cannonier and Derek Brunson meet Saturday at UFC 271 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Below, we analyze the UFC 271: Cannonier vs. Brunson odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The early prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the prelims on ESPN/ESPN+ at 8 p.m., and then the main card on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Cannonier heads into this one looking to build upon his unanimous-decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum last time out (Aug. 21, 2021). After four straight fights ended via KO/TKO for Cannonier, including three victories, the past two fights have been unanimous decisions. He has seen a big improvement in quality of opponent, and that has led to longer fights lately.

The switch-hitter Cannonier has posted 3.60 significant strikes landed per minute, while posting a 53.41 significant strikes-accuracy percentage.

Brunson will be looking to get this fight to the mat quickly, as he does his best work on the canvas. He has a 3.15 takedown average, and 34.26 takedown-accuracy percentage. In addition, he has a 0.51 submission average.

Brunson has rattled off five consecutive victories, including a submission against Darren Till in the main event Sept. 4, 2021. Three of his past five fights have ended up going the distance, however, including a unanimous-decision win over Kevin Holland March 20, 2021 in the main event.

UFC 271 Cannonier vs. Brunson: Odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 10:36 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Cannonier -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Brunson +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes +122 | No -170)

UFC 271 Cannonier vs. Brunson: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Cannonier (14-5-0) | Brunson (23-7-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

BRUNSON (+135) is a good value as he looks to use the ground game to pick up the mild upset. In his past two fights against Till and Holland, he used the ground and pound to impress.

You can bet that will be the game plan from the jump here.

Cannonier is quite expensive, but if he cannot stay on his feet he’ll be in trouble. I don’t think Cannonier ends up getting choked out, but I think BRUNSON BY POINTS (+250) is the play here as he does enough technically to wow the judges and get his arm raised.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take YES (+122): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE.

He’ll likely impress the judges with several takedowns and his work on the ground to get the victory.

UFC 271: Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whittaker odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 271 odds and lines between Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whittaker, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a middleweight title fight on the main card, Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker meet Saturday at UFC 271 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Below, we analyze the UFC 271: Adesanya vs. Whittaker odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The early prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ starting at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the prelims on ESPN/ESPN+ at 8 p.m., and then the main card on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET.

Adesanya, a.k.a. “The Last Stylebender”, picked up a second-round KO/TKO at UFC 243 over Whittaker in a title fight Oct. 5, 2019. He dropped the belt to Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 March 6, 2021, but re-claimed the strap from Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 June 12, 2021.

Adesanya takes the walk to the octagon with a 4-inch height and 7-inch reach advantage that he’ll look to use to keep Whittaker at a distance. The switch-stance fighter has 3.94 significant strikes landed per minute to 4.68 for Whittaker, but the champ lands his significant strikes at a 53.15% clip.

Whittaker has posted three consecutive unanimous-decision wins over Darren Till, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum to get himself back into title contention since that setback to Adesanya at UFC 243. Five of his past six bouts have gone the distance, with just the Adesanya fight ending via stoppage.

UFC 271 Adesanya vs. Whittaker: Odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 8:18 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Adesanya -300 (bet $300 to win $100) | Whittaker +225 (bet $100 to win $225)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes  -130 | No -105)

UFC 271 Adesanya vs. Whittaker: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Adesanya (21-1-0) | Whittaker (24-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Adesanya (-300) is a little on the expensive side, costing you three times your potential return. Instead, get more specific with Method of Victory.

The champ knocked out Whittaker in the first matchup, and you can expect the same result in this one. Take ADESANYA BY KO/TKO OR DQ (+140) for a much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take NO (-105): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE, as Adesanya will retain his strap by dropping Whittaker again.

In addition, take a three-round betting block for Winner & Exact Rounds. Play ADESANYA IN ROUND 2 (+720), ADESANYA IN ROUND 3 (+1000) and ADESANYA IN ROUND 4 (+1400) in a three-round block. You’ll lose two ends if he gets the finish in Rounds 2-4, but you’ll still be quite a bit ahead.
