UFC 270 video: Vanessa Demopoulos jumps into Joe Rogan’s arms after pulling off slick armbar

UFC commentator Joe Rogan found himself with two arm’s full of fighter during the post-fight interview.

[autotag]Vanessa Demopoulos[/autotag] has her first UFC win, and like the fight, her post-fight interview ended in an unpredictable fashion.

In the second fight of the UFC 270 prelims, Demopoulos (7-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) defeated opponent [autotag]Silvana Gomez Juarez[/autotag] (10-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) via first-round armbar at 2:25 of Round 1.

The win was Demopoulos’ first in the promotion and it did not come without adversity. The finishing sequence actually came after she was dropped by a Juarez punch. Immediately after the tap, Demopoulos rose to her feet and hit a split – similar to the one she nailed at ceremonial weigh-ins Friday.

In what might be a UFC first, Demopoulos made her victory even more memorable when she geeked out at the sight of UFC commentator, comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan during the post-fight interview. As Rogan was closing his questioning, Demopoulos jumped into his arms.

Demopoulos rebounds from a UFC debut loss against JJ Aldrich in August. Meanwhile, Juarez’s losing skid expands to two, also including a submission loss to Lupita Godinez in October.

UFC 270 took place Saturday at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The main card streamed on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.

The up-to-the-minute UFC 270 results include:

  • Vanessa Demopoulos def. Silvana Gomez Juarez via submission (armbar) – Round 1, 2:25
  • Jasmine Jasudavicius def. Kay Hansen via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

UFC 270 ceremonial weigh-in faceoffs highlights: A split, a backflip, a finger flip, more

UFC 270 participants came face-to-face for the final time before they throw down tomorrow in Anaheim, Calif.

Did you miss the UFC 270 ceremonial weigh-ins? We’ve got you covered with video highlights.

Ahead of Saturday’s event, which is headlined by [autotag]Francis Ngannou[/autotag] (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) vs. [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) for the heavyweight title and [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] (19-5-2 MMA, 7-2-2 UFC) vs. [autotag]Deiveson Figueiredo[/autotag] (20-2-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) for the flyweight belt, the fighters appeared one last time in front of the fans and cameras.

The main event was cordial with former training partners Ngannou and Gane bumping fists following their faceoff. While the main event stare-down was intense, the co-main event showed the most volatility. One day after a trash talk-filled news conference, Figueiredo gave Moreno the middle finger during their faceoff as UFC president Dana White kept the two flyweights apart.

Main card welterweight [autotag]Michel Pereira[/autotag] (26-11 MMA, 4-2 UFC) brought the energy as always, when he hit a signature backflip on the weigh-in stage. Saturday, he fights promotional newcomer and Bellator alumnus [autotag]Andre Fiahlo[/autotag] (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Official weigh-ins took place in the wee hours of Friday morning, and everyone made weight. Hours later, they got on the scale one last time to pose before getting face-to-face with their opponents a final time before getting locked in the octagon.

Check out the faceoffs for all 11 bouts in the video above.

UFC 270 takes place Saturday at Honda Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

UFC 270 faceoff: Francis Ngannou, Ciryl Gane fist bump before title unifier

The time for talking is over after Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane had their final pre-fight faceoff at UFC 270 ceremonial weigh-ins.

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The time for talking is over after [autotag]Francis Ngannou[/autotag] and [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] had their final pre-fight faceoff at UFC 270 ceremonial weigh-ins.

On Saturday, Ngannou (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) and Gane (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) will fight in a heavyweight title unification bout at Honda Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

First, however, they had to engage in a final faceoff. Similar to Thursday’s pre-fight press conference staredown, the champion Ngannou and interim titleholder Gane were intense but respectful of each other.

With all the pre-fight obligations now out of the way, all that’s left for these two is to fight and decide the top dog at heavyweight.
