Quite a bit of Utah Valley’s value — especially on the offensive end — is tied up in how the Wolverines have performed at home.

Peg UAB as being a 60% proposition here, maybe slightly higher. There is leverage on a Blazers -145 tag, but lay off the current price. STEER CLEAR.

Against the spread

Utah Valley has allowed a mere 38.9% mark on field goals since Jan. 28. Against a UAB team that will generate a lot of looks in the paint, look for some regression on that trend.

Both sides will pass up perimeter opportunities and look to leverage strengths down low. Defending that area is more of a strength for the Blazers. And UAB is the better offensive rebounding team.

UAB -1.5 (+105) has been strong in the NIT, but it is still just 5-16-2 ATS in the last 23 road games, while going 6-15-1 ATS in the last 22 games following a cover.

Vandy +1.5 (-125) is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 games overall, while cashing in 6 of the last 7 home games. The Commodores are also 7-2 ATS in the last 9 games against winning teams.

Over/Under

The UNDER 153.5 (-115) is the best play on the board.

UAB (-125) is worth playing on the money line as it looks to protect its home floor. The Blazers had a narrow loss against the Owls in the first meeting, tying FAU’s most narrow victory during the 20-game win streak.

FAU has been getting it done and playing consistent basketball, so it won’t get blown out. However, the ranked Owls will see their win streak end in Birmingham against a good Blazers team, and that’s OK.

UAB -1.5 (-105) is worth a roll of the dice at nearly even money as it simply needs to win by a bucket.

UAB has the offense to hang with anyone, and the Blazers won’t be fazed hitting the road to face FAU at “The Burrow.”

The Blazers have ripped off 5 consecutive wins, while posting 11 victories in the past 12 outings, with their only loss during the span at West Virginia Dec. 10.

FAU lost at Ole Miss Nov. 11, and it has recorded solid wins over Bryant and FGCU at home while topping Florida and North Texas on the road.

It won’t be easy for the Blazers, but they’ll get the narrow road win to stay atop the C-USA standings.

I’m going to PASS on the UAB (+105) moneyline and take the 2.5 points with the spread below. But backing the plus-money underdog here wouldn’t be terrible.

Against the spread

UAB has 1 of the best running games in the NCAA, and it is doubtful Miami will be able to keep pace. At (-410), it is unplayable to win outright. I would rather take the points with the Redhawks than the (+320) moneyline odds.

Against the spread

BET MIAMI (OH) +11 (-112).

Yes, the Blazers have an elite run game, but if there’s 1 thing the Redhawks’ defense can do, it is stop the run. The Redhawks ranked 40th in the nation in opponents’ rushing yards per game, allowing just 135.8.

The Redhawks’ strength, using Smith in the run game, is also the Blazers’ weakness as they rank 95th in opponents’ rushing yards per game (171.2).

That strength on weakness on both sides of the ball coupled with the Redhawks having been better than UAB against the spread for the entirety of the season makes Miami (Oh) the better play here.

Back MIAMI (OH) +11 (-112).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 44.5 (-112).

The UAB offense ended the season on fire, going over in its last 4 straight games. It scored 37 or more points in 3 of its last 4 games.

The Redhawks went over in 2 of their last 3 and scored at least 18 in their last 4 straight which suggests they should be able to contribute enough to help the Over be the better play.

The Redhawks also give up 371.7 yards per game which the UAB offense, which is averaging 442.3, should abuse.

Combine it all and how well the offenses were playing down the stretch, and take the OVER 44.5 (-112).
