Cincinnati 2024 power forward includes Ohio State basketball in top seven schools

He could be returning home to play in college #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] has been doing extremely well on the recruiting trail over the last two cycles.

In 2022, the five-man class saw four of them play immediately and make big impacts. Brice Sensabaugh, [autotag]Felix Okpara[/autotag], Bruce Thornton and [autotag]Roddy Gayle Jr.[/autotag] all played big roles for the Buckeyes, even though they were unable to make the NCAA Tournament.

The 2023 class is just as impressive, the three of the four commits, Scotty Middleton, Devin Royal, and Taison Chatman, were ranked inside the top 50 players in the country.

As for 2024, Holtmann is off to a good start, with four-star point guard Juni Mobley as the lone current verbal. Another target, Cincinnati native [autotag]Tyler McKinley[/autotag] could stay home also. The power forward named Ohio State among his top seven schools he’s still considering.

McKinley stands 6-foot, 9-inches, and weighs 220 pounds. He is rated as the No. 10 center and 60th overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He can play either position at the next level, hence McKinley’s ranking as a center.

McKinley currently plays for Link Academy in Missouri, but could ultimately end up playing closer to home.

Michigan State basketball makes top seven for Tyler McKinley

MSU is in good position for one of the top centers in the 2024 recruiting class

Michigan State has been hot on the recruiting trail and Tom Izzo is looking to continue that trend. The Spartans have to massive commits in Kur Teng and Jesse McCulloch in their 2024 class and they are looking to add.

Tyler McKinley is one of the prospects that are on the Spartans radar. McKinley is a center from Cincinnati, but is playing high school basketball at Link Academy in Missouri.

McKinley is down to seven schools and the Spartans have made the cut alongside Xavier, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Alabama and Tennessee.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, McKinley is a 4-star prospect and the No. 60 overall player, as well as the No. 10 center in the 2024 recruiting class.

Michigan State basketball: Who’s next in the 2024 recruiting class

MSU already has 2 commits in their 2024 recruiting class, check out who could be next:

Michigan State picked up their second commitment of the 2024 recruiting class on Thursday, picking up Ohio big man Jesse McCulloch. McCulloch joins fellow 4-star Kur Teng, a wing from Massachusetts.

McCulloch and Teng are two solid prospects to start with in 2024, but now it is time for Izzo and company to round out their recruiting class.

The Spartans almost surely will be picking up a 3rd player in the class, but I would not be surprised if they want another 4-man class in 2024.

Positionally, I do not expect the Spartans to pursue a point guard, being well off at that position. The center spot is also a 50/50 whether Izzo pursues, but adding another wing appears to be the direction MSU for sure will go in.

Check out some prospects on MSU’s board as the 2024 class unfolds:

Alabama extends offer to 2024 PF from Ohio

Alabama offered 2024 star Tyler McKinley on Tuesday. Tennessee offered McKinley on Tuesday as well.

The Alabama basketball program has seen recent success in both the transfer portal and in its ability to recruit top-tier talent from across the country. Head coach Nate Oats is entering his fourth season as Alabama’s head coach. He has already made the NCAA Tournament twice in his time in Tuscaloosa. The success has simply come from a systematic style of play and recruiting.

One of the recruits that Alabama offered for the 2024 recruiting class is Tyler McKinley. He plays the power forward position at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. It won’t be easy for the Crimson tide to pry the Ohio native away from his home state with Ohio State and Cincinnati having already extended him an offer.

Alabama is entering his recruitment with some ground to make up. However, Coach Oats is a great recruiter. It will be interesting to see how the Crimson Tide decides to go after McKinley.
