The Clemson Insider has the latest on this talented Class of 2023 Las Vegas receiver.

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV.) four-star Zachariah Branch has been hearing from Clemson and especially wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham, since Sept. 1

“He’s just been checking in a little bit to see how I’m doing,” Branch said. “I’ve just been seeing how their season’s been going and talking to (Grisham) a little bit here and there.”

As TCI previously reported, Branch will be in attendance, along with his older brother, Zion, for Clemson’s Nov. 13 matchup against UConn. Zachariah will be able to tag along for what will be an official visit for his brother and an unofficial visit for his brother.

Zion is a four-star safety in the 2022 class and has Clemson in his top-5 schools. He ranks as the No. 4 safety and No. 50 overall player in the nation for the Class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite.

“The atmosphere looks like it’s crazy,” Branch said. “I just want to experience and see what it’s like, see what they offer and see how good of a team and program they are.”

Branch hasn’t been able to take a game day visit because Bishop Gorman has been playing its games on Saturdays. In addition to Clemson, Zachariah and Zion will be heading to USC, Ohio State and Alabama for visits.

“It’s definitely taken off since Sept. 1,” Branch said of his current recruitment. “I’ve been getting calls and texts daily from different schools. It’s just great to build relationships with other schools and Clemson as well, throughout this process.

Branch has the unique perspective of viewing the recruitment process through the lens of his older brother.

“It especially helps me break down my process as well as his because we’re trying to find a school that can help both of us and just have us both in the same school,” he said. “That’s our goal, to play in college together. We’re both trying to narrow it down to schools that are a perfect fit for me and my brother, as well.”

Branch would like to make his decision either at the beginning of next year or his 18th birthday, which is in March. He’s not going to let his recruitment bleed into his senior season as his brother has. He indicated that he’ll be cutting down his list of schools in the near future, possibly after he takes all his visits.

He ranks as the No. 6 wide receiver, No. 38 prospect nationally and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Nevada for the 2023 class, per 247Sports.

4-star WR’s relationship continues to progress with Grisham, Clemson

The Clemson Insider reached back out to this Texas four-star wide receiver, who continues to prioritize building a relationship with Clemson.

TCI has the latest on Del Valle (Tex.) High School 2023 WR Braylon James.

James was supposed to make a gameday visit for Clemson’s matchup against Georgia Tech back on Saturday, Sept. 18, but he didn’t end up making it for the game. As he’s stated to TCI before, he’ll definitely be making it back to The Valley for a game this season, but it just has to line up with his parents’ work schedule.

After James made an unofficial visit to Clemson on July 31, he was counting down the days until he’d be able to hear from the Tigers and wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham.

“Me and Coach Grisham talk every week. It’s not daily, it’s probably every other day. He’s always hitting my line, whether it’s just checking up on me or asking for film and stuff like that. He’s still building a relationship with me. As far as offering, we haven’t come to terms with when that would happen, but we’re still building a good relationship. That’s my guy for sure.”

How have things progressed with Clemson since his visit?

“They’ve progressed a lot,” James said, ‘Like I said, Coach Grisham and I talk pretty frequently. I’m starting to get a little contact with Coach (Tony) Elliott. He sends me graphics here and there. I still haven’t had the opportunity to talk to him over the phone, just a little bit of texts here and there and him introducing himself to me. They shoot me a lot of mail, like every day there’s something from Clemson in my mailbox. That’s huge.

“I would definitely say it’s progressing. It’s taken another step. Once we finally get things rolling. I’m pretty sure they’re still focused on the season and trying to win some games and be the team I know they want to be.”

James added that he definitely feels the love and level of interest that Clemson has in him.

This past Friday, James had the opportunity to face-off against Clemson’s five-star quarterback commit, Cade Klubnik, who he’s built a close relationship with over the past year or so.

It’s been a rough go of things for Del Valle, which happens to be going through a transition year, or as James described it as a “culture shift”

The Cardinals fell to Klubnik’s Westlake High School, 63-6. The future Clemson gunslinger threw for six touchdown passes against James’s team.

Every time James posts something Clemson-related on social media, you can count on Klubnik being among those in his replies.

“He’s always telling me like ‘Bro, you know this is the move.’ He’s not really in my ear, kind of forcing me on it, but he’s definitely back there like man you see it, you see the love,” James said. “He’s definitely a guy who’s been recruiting me heavily.”

Speaking of his recruitment, James continues to rack in Power 5 offers. Since Sept. 1, he’s picked up offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Illinois. He also earned an offer from The University of North Texas.

4-star WR showed out for Grisham, set to visit Death Valley

A four-star wide receiver and top-100 national prospect who hails from the Tar Heel State could be closing in on a coveted offer from the Clemson Tigers, based on what he has heard from wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham.

Grisham recently traveled to see class of 2023 wideout Christian Hamilton play in one of his games with Hickory Ridge High School (Harrisburg, N.C.), and the two have been staying in regular contact.

“What I’ve been hearing from Coach Grisham is that he thinks I’m an amazing player,” Hamilton told The Clemson Insider. “He says just be patient with him because he doesn’t just throw out offers. He says (Clemson is) really, really close to offering me and also he wants me to keep in touch with him weekly.”

Grisham attended Hamilton’s game against South Point (Belmont, N.C.) on Sept. 3, when Hamilton shined while hauling in six receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns in Hickory Ridge’s 27-7 victory.

“He came to one of my games a couple weeks ago,” Hamilton said. “He said that I showed him a lot, I played awesome.”

Hamilton will soon return the favor of Grisham’s visit to see him, with a visit to Clemson. He is set to attend the Tigers’ game against Boston College at Death Valley this Saturday.

“I haven’t visited any schools so far yet (this season),” Hamilton said, “but Clemson will be my first, their home game Oct. 2.”

Hamilton also visited Clemson this past June and hit the road to check out a slew of other schools over the summer as well, including Louisville, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Penn State.

All of those programs have offered Hamilton, with the exception of Ohio State and Clemson.

As for when Hamilton will make his college decision, he is eyeing a few potential dates.

“I’ll probably commit on my birthday, Oct. 24, my mom’s, Oct. 14, or my dad’s, Dec. 29, of next year,” he said.

Hamilton is ranked as a top-100 national prospect in the 2023 class by ESPN (No. 72 overall), Rivals (No. 97) and the 247Sports Composite (No. 93), the latter of which considers him the No. 1 prospect from North Carolina and No. 15 wide receiver in his class.

‘Electrifying’ Sunshine State receiver on Clemson’s radar

This talented young wide receiver prospect from the Sunshine State is on Clemson’s recruiting radar for the future.

Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Fla.) class of 2024 four-star Bredell Richardson has been followed on social media by some of the Tigers’ coaching staff, including receivers coach Tyler Grisham.

“It’s cool but it only means that I got to work harder and keep performing on a high level to maintain being on that radar,” Richardson told The Clemson Insider recently.

Richardson (6-2, 185) has been performing at a high level early in his sophomore season.

“I’ve played two weeks, have three touchdowns and 150 yards,” he said.

Plenty of college football programs have already taken notice of Richardson’s ability and skillset as a wideout, as evidenced by the 17 scholarship offers he has collected early in his recruiting process.

Schools such as Penn State, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and West Virginia have all offered Richardson, who feels he will bring plenty to the table for whichever program he decides to suit up for down the road.

“I am a very big and fast receiver who can run all routes in the route tree, with natural hands for the ball who can catch contested catches,” he said. “Will be getting an electrifying receiver who can make a play on all four downs and who loves to play special teams, and has want and drive to win and be the best team player for my team in all phases, and even in the classroom.”

Richardson knows Clemson doesn’t offer sophomores such as himself, and that the Tigers are highly selective with their offers – especially at the receiver position – which only adds to the appeal of potentially earning an offer from Dabo Swinney’s program in the future.

“I like the program and how much productivity comes out of Clemson year in and year out and how they always compete for a national championship,” he said. “It would mean a lot because of how precise they are on offering, so if they offer, they’re really interested in you.”

So far this season, Richardson has made game visits to Florida, Florida State and USF. He said he plans to visit Clemson at some point moving forward.

While Richardson is enjoying the recruiting process, he isn’t worried as much about that right now as he is giving his all to his high school squad.

“It’s been a good, a cool experience,” he said of his recruitment. “Just taking it day by day right now and focusing on the season and being the best player for my team.”

4-star WR, mom have ‘really good’ relationship with Grisham

The Clemson Insider checked back in with this talented Peach State four-star wide receiver after he attended the Clemson-Georgia game as a guest of the Tigers.

Powder Springs (GA.) Hillgrove High School’s Cayden Lee immediately heard from Clemson and wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham when coaching staffs were cleared to start initiating contact with players in the Class of 2023 (high school juniors).

“They hit me up right at 12:01. So right when midnight struck, they hit me up,” Lee said. “So, that meant a lot to me. They were one of the first people to reach out, so that went really well with me.”

Then, he was in the stands in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium for the Duke’s Mayo Classic, three days later.

“That game was so exciting. The fans, they have some really, really true fans that travel from far and wide to come to that game,” he said. “That game was really awesome.”

It “meant everything” for Lee to be invited to the Tigers’ season-opening marquee matchup, he added.

As of now, Clemson has only offered two wide receivers in the 2023 class — Brandon Inniss and Nathaniel Joseph — both of whom hail from the Sunshine State. Joseph, of course, verbally committed to Clemson last Friday, making him the first member of the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class.

“Clemson, as you know, they don’t offer a whole lot of people. I think they have only offered a couple of receivers in my class,” Lee said. “I think it could possibly come, but I’m just gonna wait on it.”

Still, Lee continues to strengthen his relationship with Grisham.

“Me and him have been talking a lot recently. We talked a lot after the game and he asked how I was liking it and I told him how I felt,” he said. “And then he was like, ‘We just have to get you for a home game,’ and I agreed. We’ve just been talking about a lot of stuff.”

“I think it’s really, really good,” Lee added when asked to describe his relationship with Grisham. “I talk to him a lot. We can talk about anything. He talks to my mom a lot. They have a really good relationship. So, I think it’s sitting really well with my family right now.”

Lee would like to check out a couple of other schools — Florida and Georgia — but indicated that he would like to make it to a home game at Memorial Stadium sometime this season.

As far as a school at the next level is concerned, Lee has already outlined some of the more important factors he’s looking for.

“I want to go somewhere where I can contribute to the team early and somewhere that’s gonna have a winning environment and a good fan culture,” Lee said. “And then somewhere that I can grow, because you don’t want to go somewhere and stay the same that you were in high school. You want to be able to develop that stuff really well.”

Lee is a fan of the way Clemson utilizes its receivers.

“I like how they use the receivers in a lot of different ways,” he said. “They can put their receivers in the slot, outside, sometimes they’ll motion them. They just do a lot of different stuff, so you never know where they’re going to be on the field.”

Lee would prefer to play the outside receiver position, but he feels there is enough balance and versatility to his game that he can play all three receiver positions.

With that being said, what does Grisham like about Lee’s game?

“He’s told me that he likes how I can move around a lot,” Lee added. “He said that he likes my route running and my hands. He just thinks I can develop and be a very good player.”

Lee ranks as the No. 33 wide receiver and No. 26 prospect in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2023, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Sunshine State prospect has a ‘long family connection’ to Spiller, Clemson

This Sunshine State prospect is among college juniors who heard from Clemson dating back to Sept. 1.

Starke (Fla.) Bradford High School 2023 running back Manny Covey’s relationship to the Clemson football program goes beyond his experience at the Dabo Swinney Camp this past summer.

The Tigers are actually looking at Covey (5-11, 175) as a slot receiver. He worked out for and was coached by wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham at Clemson’s camp.

Covey and his father, Rich, caught up with The Clemson Insider regarding their long-standing connection to Clemson and their relationship with Tigers’ running backs coach C.J. Spiller.

“I talked to the wide receivers coach when I went to the camp and he just told me basically that he wanted me to play that position, instead of being a running back,” Manny told TCI.

Clemson reached out and expressed their interest in him almost immediately.

He’s very familiar with the program, not only through Spiller, who is practically family, but he and his family lived in Anderson County from 2009-16 before moving back down to Florida.

Manny’s adopted. He’s been with his family since he was about four years old, according to his father. Rich’s oldest adopted son is first cousins with Spiller. Manny is not actually biologically related to Spiller.

“But he’s called Manny his ‘little cuz’ ever since we can remember,” Rich recalled. “As a matter of fact, I can tell you when we first moved up there, I think it was C.J.’s rookie year (with Buffalo), he came and picked up my oldest son. Willie was actually being recruited to Auburn, him Kevin Alexander and C.J. in that ‘06 class. He was a rookie at Buffalo and he pulled up to our house in his range rover and he got out of the car. He was like ‘what’s up little cuz’ and Manny responded back, ‘you’re not my cousin.’”

Rich can recite that memory like it was yesterday.

“We just have a long, long family connection,” he added. “As I said, we lived in that area, both of my boys played travel baseball, Dabo’s kids played travel baseball and they had kids around the same age. We’d see them at different baseball tournaments over the years.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Clemson. My oldest son camped at Clemson as well. We’re definitely familiar with the area. Just the fact that he’s even being talked about with a premiere program like Clemson is big for him, whether Clemson offers or not. There’s no arguing that Clemson’s one of the top-3 programs in the country”

If there’s anyone who can say good things about Clemson’s camps, it’s Rich, who’s attended plenty of them as a parent with his sons over the years.

“Even dating all the way back to Dabo’s first year as the head coach there, that was actually when my oldest son went,” Rich said. “The best working camp in the country. This summer, we did Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, Florida State, South Carolina and hands down Clemson’s camp was the best. As far as work, I like that Dabo said ‘Hey look, I’m not running a combine, I’m trying to find football players, so we’re gonna do football stuff.’ And that’s exactly what they did. They worked and taught the entire camp. There’s no doubt that Clemson is the premiere camp — at least the ones I’ve attended as a parent with both of my kids.”

It’s still pretty early on as far as Manny’s recruitment goes and his versatility will play a huge factor, nonetheless.

He’s a running back, slot receiver, kick returner and punt returner. Manny can essentially do it all. Last season, he had almost 1,400 all-purpose yards and a total of 14 touchdowns.

Manny is a versatile threat, who can move all over the field. As far as his recruitment is concerned, it’s all about a team just taking a chance, Rich added.

Though it’s still pretty early on as far as Manny’s recruitment goes and his versatility will play a huge factor, nonetheless.

Clemson has officially landed its first commit in the Class of 2023.

Miami (Fla.) Edison High School four-star wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph announced his verbal commitment to Clemson Friday. He committed to Clemson over schools Florida, Florida State and Texas A&M.

Joseph (5-8, 170) is ranked as the No. 23 wide receiver in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite. He took in a visit to Tiger Town earlier this summer at the Dabo Swinney Camp and received an offer from the Tigers shortly thereafter.

“It was good, I actually liked it and I would love to get back,” Joseph told The Clemson Insider back in June regarding his visit. “I had a great time. I had a good time working with Coach Grisham in the group he had had me in. It was pretty nice being able to learn and pick up new things.”

According to Joseph, Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham had him as the No. 1 slot receiver on his board for the 2023 class.

What does it mean for a Florida receiver like Joseph to be recruited by WRU?

“That means a lot. I got a goal of playing in the league one day, and given the history of the school, it’s unbelievable,” he said. “If I go there, if I end up going there, I know that it’s nothing but greatness…I feel that could be a good spot for me.”

Top Texas WR ‘super close’ with Grisham, set to visit Saturday

The Clemson Insider has learned that this Texas four-star prospect is planning to make his way back to The Valley this weekend.

Del Valle (Tex.) High School 2023 wide receiver Braylon James confirmed to TCI that he’s making a plan to get up to Clemson on Saturday for the Tigers’ first home game of the season against South Carolina State.

“Me and Coach Grisham are super close man,” James said. “No matter where I go I know I’ll always have a backbone in him.”

The Texas native is the No. 11 ranked WR and No. 75 overall prospect regardless of position in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

James is extremely high on Clemson and was blown away by his late-July visit to Tiger Town, which he detailed with TCI last month.

He continues to strive for that coveted offer from WRU.

“It was a really humbling experience,” James said, “Just seeing that everything isn’t given and it’s giving me something to look forward to this season. So, I can go out and earn that offer, potentially making Clemson a huge target on my list for destinations.”

2023 Texas WR: ‘Feels great to have school like Clemson recognize you’

One junior in the 2023 class whose phone has been blowing up since Sept. 1 is Kaleb Black, a talented 3-star receiver from Klein Oak High School in Spring (Tex.).

Black was more than happy to hear from Clemson, in addition to coaches from Baylor, Wisconsin, Memphis, Louisiana, Marshall, Houston, Rice, Mizzou and Tulsa.

The Tigers showed love to a receiver, they’ve expressed interest in before.

“It felt really good. You know it’s always great to have a school like that recognize you and show love,” he told The Clemson Insider.

Black had previously been in contact with Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham. However, he heard from a number in Clemson’s recruiting department.

“They said they were happy to reach out and communicate with me,” Black said.

While he didn’t hear about coming up to The Valley for a game this season, he does believe he’ll have that conversation when he hears from Grisham in the near future. Black indicated that this was pretty much said from the number that texted him.

Black camped at the Dabo Swinney Camp earlier this summer and had a chance to be coached up by Grisham. The two were able to bond as Clemson’s wide receivers coach took Black and his family for a visit around campus and broke down a film of some legendary former Tigers receivers.

“The Clemson visit was great,” Black told The Clemson Insider back in early July. “I liked the coaching, it was a lot of hands-on coaching. Me and my teammate because of our performance we got to do a visit. The visit was real cool. They showed us around the school and we got to take photos in the uniform.”

In addition to Clemson, Black camped at Baylor and took visits to each of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Although Clemson has yet offered, it’s still one of the schools standing out at this point in his recruitment process. Black’s current offer list includes Houston, Kansas, Tulsa and Wisconsin.

4-star WR, top-100 national recruit building bond with Grisham

A four-star wide receiver from the Tar Heel State and top-100 national prospect in the 2023 class is firmly on the recruiting radar of Clemson and Tyler Grisham.

Harrisburg (N.C.) Hickory Ridge High School’s Christian Hamilton, who visited Clemson in June, has been in consistent contact with Grisham and is building a bond with the Tigers’ receivers coach.

“I have a good relationship with him or starting to build a good relationship with him,” Hamilton told The Clemson Insider. “I talk to him almost every week.”

Harrisburg (N.C.) Hickory Ridge 2023 4-star WR Christian Hamilton (photo from @ChristianHam07 on Twitter)

Hamilton (6-0, 180) is ranked among the top 100 prospects in the country for the 2023 class, regardless of position, by ESPN (No. 72), Rivals (No. 97) and the 247Sports Composite (No. 93). Rivals ranks him as the No. 14 wide receiver in the class, while he checks in as the No. 15 receiver in the composite rankings.

Hamilton hit the road to check out a slew of schools this summer. Along with Clemson, he visited Louisville, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Penn State.

All those programs have offered Hamilton, with the exception of Ohio State and Clemson.

The Tigers, of course, are very patient and selective when it comes to offering scholarships – especially at the receiver position. So, if they decided to offer Hamilton, it would certainly be a big deal to him.

“It would really mean a lot to me knowing that a great football program and also a great academic program has strong interest in me,” he said, “and wants me to be at their school.”

The genuineness of Grisham and Clemson’s staff made a great impression on Hamilton when they played host to him on campus June 8.

“What stands out is whenever I went there, it didn’t feel like any forced love,” he said.

Asked to describe himself as a wide receiver, Hamilton said, “Fast, sticky fingers, explosive, high IQ, student of the game, great yards after catch.”

In six games as a sophomore last season, Hamilton hauled in 22 catches for 379 yards and three touchdowns.
