Coveted offensive tackle sets official visit with Florida football

“They said I have elite feet. They said I move to the second level really well.” Coveted in-state OL sets OV with Florida.

The Sunshine State has been a hotbed for college football talent stretching back a few decades, and Billy Napier and Co. know it. That is why Florida’s second-year head coach has put a mandate on recruiting within a reasonable radius of Gainesville as the Orange and Blue continues its rebuild.

While a ton of attention has been directed toward the blue-chippers in the 2024 recruiting cycle, the Gators are also searching for diamonds in the rough, such as three-star offensive tackle [autotag]Tye Hylton[/autotag] out of Oviedo (Florida). The 6-foot-4-inch, 270-pound lineman has visited the Swamp thrice this spring, with his most recent stop coming during the first week of May.

Now, the rising high school senior is set for an official visit to Florida, with the weekend of June 16 locked in, according to Swamp247. In his previous Hogtown stops he managed to impress the Gators’ coaching staff.

“They said I have elite feet. They said I move to the second level really well. I have great pass pro and stuff like that. They want to keep building that power run scheme on offense and think I can help with that. Coach [Rob] Sale and [Darnell] Stapleton told me all that today.”

The university itself also appears to have a strong allure for the in-state product.

“My parents like it, I like it, so I would say Florida is pretty high on my board. They are just constantly recruiting me, but it doesn’t even feel like recruiting. It’s just genuine with them. They ask me about things going on with me, check up on me, and make sure I am good mentally.”

Hylton is ranked No. 959 overall and No. 83 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 912 and 67, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Florida in front with a 55.0% chance of signing him, followed by the Florida State Seminoles, South Florida Bulls and Central Florida Knights.

In-state OT target stopped by the Swamp on Saturday

Florida is staying on top of the recruiting race for offensive tackle Tye Hylton by hosting him on a third visit this spring.

The Florida Gators are hosting a group of recruits on visits this weekend, and in-state offensive tackle [autotag]Tye Hylton[/autotag] is one of the confirmed names in Gainesville this Saturday, according to Gators Online.

Hylton plays high school ball in Oviedo, which is just outside the Orlando area, so he’s certainly within the radius that Billy Napier and his recruiting staff like to operate within.

He’s been by campus twice already this spring, most recently stopping by the Swamp for the Orange and Blue Game in April. He brought his parents along for that visit and got a chance to connect with the coaching staff a bit better, which seems to have paid off considering the quick return.

It looks like Florida and Florida State are the two schools at the top of this recruiting race, and Miami is also in the mix. Hylton’s regular visits to the Swamp have some thinking UF is out in front.

Both 247Sports and On3 give Hylton a three-star rating. He’s No. 904 on the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major recruiting services. He’s also ranked No. 67 among offensive tackles in the class of 2024 and No. 121 among recruits from the Sunshine State.

In-state OT target closing in on spring visit date with Florida

Oviedo offensive tackle Tye Hylton has a busy schedule planned for March, but Florida managed to secure a date for a visit with the in-state target.

A week after securing an offer from the University of Florida, Oviedo three-star offensive tackle [autotag]Tye Hylton[/autotag] is getting closer to locking a date for his upcoming unofficial visit to the Swamp.

Although things could change over the next few weeks, Hylton is looking at March 23 for the trip, according to Swamp247. He has a busy schedule set for next month, which includes trips to Florida State, Miami, Rutgers and USF. Central Florida is another program Hylton could visit during the spring.

Hylton has been to the Swamp for camps in the past, but this visit will give him a closer look at how Florida operates in practice and during team meetings. He should be able to meet with most of the staff in person during the trip.

The in-state programs clearly appeal to Hylton the most. His upcoming travel schedule is mostly in-state, so this could wind up being one of those Sunshine State Big Three (Big Four with UCF in the Big 12?) races.

247Sports grades Hylton as a three-star recruit and ranked him No. 70 overall among offensive tackles in the class of 2024 on the Top247. No other site has graded him yet, so there are no composite scores to work with.
