Alabama linebacker target commits to Big Ten program

The highly-touted linebacker is heading elsewhere.

One of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s top uncommitted defensive targets in the 2025 class has now officially made a decision at to where he will play college football, as Ty Jackson officially committed to the USC Trojans on Sunday.

Jackson had interest from numerous major collegiate programs across the country, which included Alabama, and held nearly 30 offers.

A four-star linebacker, Jackson is considered as the nation’s No. 95 overall player in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Jackson is also ranked as the No. 13 linebacker in the class, as well as the No. 15 player in the state of Florida where he attends Seminole Ridge High School.

The Crimson Tide’s 2025 recruiting class still ranks as No. 2 in the nation, with Alabama holding a total of 20 commitments. Included in that group are four linebackers that include five-star Darrell Johnson, as well as four-star prospect’s Dawson Merritt, Abduall Sanders Jr., and Luke Metz.

2025 No. 1 linebacker Ty Jackson could ‘potentially’ visit Tennessee

2025 No. 1 ranked linebacker Ty Jackson could visit Tennessee football.

2025 linebacker prospect Ty Jackson could “potentially” visit Tennessee during the upcoming football season, according to On3s Steve Wiltfong.

Jackson scheduled visits to Florida, USC, Alabama, Penn State and Florida State.

He ranks as the No. 1 linebacker in the class of 2025, the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 4 player in Florida, according to On3 rankings.

The 6-foot-1, 197 pound four-star linebacker is from Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee, Florida.

Tennessee has 23 commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Quarterback George MacIntyre, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, tight end Jack Vandorselaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson, cornerback Tyler Redmond, safety Sidney Walton, wide receiver Radarious Jackson, offensive lineman Antoni Kade Ogumoro, edge Jayden Loftin, offensive lineman Nic Moore, defensive lineman Charles House, offensive lineman Douglas Utu, cornerback Tre Poteat, edge Mariyon Dye, wide receiver Travis Smith Jr., linebacker Christian Gass and safety Lagonza Hayward, tight end Da’Saahn Brame, defensive lineman Darrion Smith, offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. and linebacker Jaedon Harmon.

In-state, four-star LB enjoys Florida’s Grill in the Ville

One of Florida’s top linebacker targets from the class of 2025 was in town for the Gators’ Grill in the ‘Ville event to close out the summer.

Seminole Ridge (Loxahatchee, Florida) linebacker [autotag]Ty Jackson[/autotag] is among the best linebackers in the 2025 recruiting class, and Florida is trying to keep him from going anywhere other than the state’s flagship program.

The latest step in the Gators’ recruiting effort was hosting Jackson on a visit for the team’s Grill in the Ville cookout to close out the summer period. Fall brings camp, school and a recruiting dead period.

“Today was mainly family-oriented,” Jackson said to Swamp247. “Just getting everyone, all the potential recruits back on campus, and just having games. Getting around the coaches and the players. Played games, did a scavenger hunt with the coaches. Just getting a bond with them.”

The rain didn’t spoil that kind of old-fashioned fun, and quality time is always good for a team trying to convince a player that their home is indeed his. Jackson said that “seeing the other side” at events like this allows him to make an informed decision.

Defensive coordinator [autotag]Austin Armstrong[/autotag] got to spend time with Jackson. He and co-defensive coordinator/inside linebackers coach Ron Robert are Jackson’s main points of contact at Florida.

His next visit should come at the end of August when Florida hosts Miami in the season opener.

Recruiting Summary

Jackson is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked the highest by On3 at No. 25 overall in the class of 2025. In fact, On3’s standalone rankings consider him the top linebacker in the nation.

However, the On3 industry ranking — which considers all four major recruiting services — puts him at No. 82 nationally and No. 7 among linebackers, while the 247Sports composite has him just outside the top 100 at Nos. 109 and 14, respectively.

The Alabama Crimson Tide leads the On3 recruiting prediction machine with 25.2% odds of landing Jackson, but Florida (18.4%), Georgia (15.8%) and Penn State (10.6%) are all in the hunt too.

Gators set July visit for blue-chip 2025 LB after ‘dead period’ ends

The 6-foot, 200-pound defender has made a few visits to Gainesville during his recruitment and has set a date for another stop in the Swamp.

Things have quieted down on the 2025 college football recruiting front since the end of the official visit season and the start of the “dead period” following. However, Billy Napier are forever burning the midnight oil and have been working on a followup visit for a blue-chip prospect who made an OV back in June.

Four-star linebacker Ty Jackson out of Loxahatchee (Florida) Seminole Ridge in the 2025 cycle spent a weekend in Gainesville in the middle of last month and came away impressed with what the Orange and Blue have to offer him. The 6-foot, 200-pound defender has made a few visits to Gainesville during his recruitment and has set a date for another stop in the Swamp.

According to Jackson’s father Semaj, the rising senior will be in attendance for Florida’s Grill in the Ville event at the end of July. The family has only decided on a date with the Gators so far — a good sign for Napier and Co. as they court the coveted young linebacker.

“He had the opportunity to get around Napier,” Ty’s father offered. “Having breakfast, lunch, and dinner around him, (Austin) Armstrong, and (Ron) Roberts. Even a lot of the other coaches and staff also. Larry Williams to Brandon Spikes.

“They all will meet with you at the meals, someone new may introduce themselves and small talk. Ty had his brothers accompany him, so for the most part it was all positive. No negative feedback. Just getting to know the guys. I know Larry Williams because he’s from Miami and went to the same high school.”

“I’m a little older than him, but Larry knows a lot of the same people as me, and we know each other. He’s the reason why we started to get there with Florida. A lot of these visits, you may not get the one-on-one time that you get on an OV. Sometimes even on an OV you get more time with some head coaches than others.

“I can say on this one I was able to spend a lot of time with Napier one on one, and Armstrong. He practically calls every day. Roberts a lot too. More than a lot of schools. That one-on-one time was definitely in abundance as far as I’m concerned on this visit to Florida.”

“He will know when he knows, but he’s doing his research and his due diligence,” the senior Jackson said. “He’s looking at all ends, but I think it will be a later decision. He wants to look at the schools he has on his list, and see how they play this year. How they look, how they compete, and the players at his position.”

Jackson spent time with the Penn State Nittany Lions on the opening weekend of June, followed by the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He is also considering visits this fall, including the Florida State Seminoles, who will get an official visit in November when they host the Gators.

Jackson is ranked No. 108 overall and No. 14 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 82 and 7, respectively.

On3’s recruiting prediction machine has Alabama at the top of its board with a 28.3% chance of signing the Sunshine State product, followed by Georgia (20.7%), Florida (14.3%) and Penn State (11.9%).

2025 four-star linebacker Ty Jackson offered by USC

The top linebacker in the country for the Class of 2025 is squarely in USC’s sights.

Four-star linebacker Ty Jackson announced his top 10 schools back in March, but was recently offered by the USC Trojans this week in another recruiting development.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker is from Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee (Florida). Jackson’s top schools are Syracuse, Texas A&M, Florida State, Penn State, Miami, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Florida.

Jackson is the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 2 player in Florida, according to the On3.

Over the past three seasons, Jackson has dominated with 378 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles, and four interceptions. Jackson also caught 15 passes for 257 yards and five touchdowns at tight end on offense.

Jackson was also recently named to the 247Sports All-Combine Team earlier this year at the national combine, running the second-fastest short shuttle at the event and the second-best broad jump.

There is no clear favorite to land the 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker as of today, but Florida State and Georgia have been the most active schools so far. Let’s see if the Trojans can make their way into Jackson’s top list this fall, when he is expected to commit or at least narrow down his schools once more.

Michigan’s new linebacker coach sends out first offer

It begins! #GoBlue

Michigan moved on from linebacker coach Chris Partridge late last season and has finally gotten a replacement on board with Brian Jean-Mary officially able to recruit.

Jean-Mary, who formerly worked at Tennessee, Texas, and Michigan, has been touted throughout his career as an elite recruiter. Wolverine fans are seeing his ability on the trail in real-time as the new man on campus extended his first official offer during his second stint at Michigan to South Florida linebacker Ty Jackson.

Jackson currently holds a grade of .9575 from the 247Sports Composite and is listed as the 86th player nationally. However, On3 has Jackson graded as the 16th player nationally and the top linebacker overall. Either way, Jackson is a consensus elite recruit and would be a massive win for the Wolverines on the trail.

So, is Jackson actually interested? Yes. At least, he should be.

Jackson released a top school list in late February that was composed of Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, Florida, Miami, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, and Syracuse.

From that list, three schools should stick out: Penn State, Syracuse, and Tennessee. Firstly, the inclusion of two schools outside the South shows that Jackson is willing to level the region. That is a huge plus. Secondly, Jean-Mary was Jackson’s primary recruiter at Tennessee and it’s probably safe to assume that Michigan is right up there with his top schools following the offer.

Michigan is looking to finally capitalize off the on-field success of the last three seasons with elite recruits, and Jackson would be a massive first step in that plan. Michigan lost a commitment from another South Florida top-100 prospect in Chris Ewald in the days following the national title game, but it is good to see that the staff has not given up on the most talent-rich area in the country.

Penn State getting official visit from elite four-star linebacker

Penn State is looking forward to hosting this key linebacker recruiting target.

Penn State continues their efforts in the 2025 recruiting class to add as many talented prospects as possible.

With the Big Ten expanding, there is more need for talent now than ever.

The Nittany Lions have done a great job at landing early commitments from many players in the class so far, but there is still plenty of time for them to add more to areas of need.

One position they continue to target is linebacker.

Despite having three commitments already from four-stars [autotag]DJ McClary[/autotag], [autotag]Alex Tatsch[/autotag] and [autotag]Dayshaun Burnett[/autotag], they are heavily recruiting another four-star from the state of Florida.

[autotag]Ty Jackson[/autotag] is rated as the No. 115 player in the country and 14th-best linebacker according to On3’s Industry Rankings, but On3’s new updated rankings have him much higher as the best linebacker in his class and the No. 16 player overall.

At 6’1″ and 205 pounds, he is a downhill player who gets into the backfield quickly with his speed.

Jackson has started to have offers from high-profile programs pour in recently with just under 30 offers, many from elite schools across the country.

According to Chad Simmons of On3, he’s locked in an official visit to Penn State for the weekend of May 31. He’s visiting three others across the SEC and ACC in an official capacity this summer and plans on seeing others in the spring. Simmons also said that Jackson is not rushing into a decision with the elite prospect telling him it will likely come after his senior season in high school (subscription required).

Penn State currently sits third in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 18.8% chance to land a commitment with Georgia leading the way at 25.1% and Tennessee second with a 21.9% chance.

Four-star LB Ty Jackson receives scholarship offer from UGA football

UGA football offers elite linebacker recruit Ty Jackson

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to talented linebacker recruit Ty Jackson. Jackson, a member of the class of 2025, plays football for Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee, Florida.

Jackson is ranked as a four-star recruit and put up impressive numbers in 2022. The elite linebacker prospect recorded 137 tackles and two sacks back in 2022.

Ty Jackson is ranked as the No. 362 recruit in the class of 2025. Jackson is considered the No. 36 linebacker and the No. 50 player in Florida.

Georgia football has been elite at recruiting the linebacker position in recent seasons. The Bulldogs have developed linebackers for the NFL draft at a very high level, so Georgia is one of the most attractive destinations for top linebacker recruits.

Ty Jackson announced his scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs via social media:

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker also holds scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Kentucky, Syracuse, South Carolina, and more top college football programs.

LSU offers 2025 3-star linebacker from Florida

Brian Kelly is working on recruiting for the 2025 recruiting class.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is working on recruiting for the 2025 recruiting class. These kids are juniors this season and still have a lot of time before they make their decision. Kelly thinks he has found a talented linebacker in Florida.

[autotag]Ty Jackson[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound, three-star linebacker from Loxahatchee, Florida, where he plays for Seminole Ridge High School. The Seminole Ridge Hawks are off to a hot start in 2023. They are 3-0 so far with three non-district wins.

There are no Crystal Ball projections for Jackson at this time but the Tennessee Volunteers are a 67% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Jackson is a guy who is not scared to plug a gap and lay a lick to opposing running backs.
