Lions fans are not happy with the CBS broadcast or Tony Romo

Lions fans are not happy with the CBS broadcast or Tony Romo during Sunday’s matchup with the Bills

The Lions aren’t on CBS very often. During Sunday’s much-hype showdown with the Buffalo Bills, most Detroit fans found out that’s probably a good thing.

The CBS broadcast, led by Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, did not have a good first half in Ford Field.

Whether it’s cutting to an ad without identifying injured players–twice!– or Romo rambling on with non sequitur blather while plays are going on, it was a very amateurish feel to CBS’s alleged top team.

Romo’s smarter-than-you delivery and seeming inattention to offering anything substantive to the conversation was a particular thorny point. Many Lions fans and pundits took issue with both Romo and the CBS overall broadcast in this one.

Lions win over the Texans: What they’re saying about Detroit’s epic comeback

Lions win over the Texans: What they’re saying on social media about Detroit’s epic comeback

Facing a 16-point halftime deficit on the road against a team that almost certainly will win its division (again), the Detroit Lions overcame. With no run game in the first half, with quarterback Jared Goff throwing five INTs in the first 10 drives, with several key players out of the lineup with injuries, it looked bleak for the Lions.

Didn’t matter. None of it could hold back the grit of Dan Campbell’s team. The Lions rallied around a heroic defensive effort, improved play from Goff and two clutch field goals from Jake Bates to turn a 23-7 humiliation in the first half into a 26-23 triumph that will have Detroit fans buzzing for days.

Here’s a sampling of the social media reaction to the Lions’ epic win, starting with safety Kerby Joseph,

Jameson Williams roasts the Rams D and the Lions fans love it

Wideout Jameson Williams roasts the Rams D for a long TD and the Lions fans love it

It’s Jamo time!

Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams got on the scoreboard in Detroit’s Week 1 matchup on Sunday night. Befitting his world-class speed, Williams got to the end zone in spectacular fashion.

Williams roasted veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White on a sweet double move that left White desperately grabbing at No. 9 trying in vain to keep Williams from breaking free. Jared Goff found the wide-open Williams for a 52-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter.

The long TD connection gave the Lions a 17-3 lead over the visiting Rams. The Ford Field crowd went crazy, and so did social media in reacting to Jamo’s big play.

Patriots Twitter reacts to Bill Belichick’s heartfelt thank you letter

Bill Belichick will always be a Patriot

Break-ups are never easy, and they’re even worse when they come after six Super Bowl wins and 24 years of being tied at the hip. Such has been the case for former head coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

The two sides parted ways after finishing the 2023 season with a 4-13 record and failing to make the postseason for a second straight year. Within a blink of an eye, the mighty Patriots, who were once perennial contenders, were somehow reduced to being one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Yet, the present doesn’t change the past success for a franchise that became the greatest dynasty in NFL history. On Sunday, coach Bill Belichick penned a thank you letter in the Boston Globe to Patriots fans.

Some Patriots fans have been screaming for change for years. The truth is the team hasn’t been the same since Tom Brady took his talents down south to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But that doesn’t mean fans aren’t appreciative of Belichick for so many great memories during a near 20-year run of success. Here’s what fans were saying on social media in response to Belichick’s thank you letter:

Twitter reaction: Chiefs being called ‘new Patriots’ after win over Bills

Some on social media are calling the Chiefs the NFL’s new-age Patriots team

The Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday to advance to their sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game.

That monumental feat has elicited comparisons between the Chiefs and the old New England Patriots dynasty, which spanned nearly two decades. During the Patriots’ legendary run, they were the most hated team in the NFL.

Such has been the case for the Chiefs as they’ve continued to find consistent success. They are clearly the new dominant force in the NFL. They’ve won two of the last four Super Bowls and have completely terrorized the AFC West division for years.

Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce continue to break records in a league hell-bent on trying to stop them.

To some, the Chiefs are the new Patriots, and Mahomes and Kelce are the new Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Here’s what fans were saying on social media after Sunday night’s game:

Twitter reacts as Rutgers basketball continues its dominance over Indiana

Twitter reacts to Rutgers basketball’s big win over Indiana.

Rutgers basketball got a much-needed and impressive result on Tuesday night with a 66-57 win over Indiana. The Big Ten basketball win helps stabilize a Rutgers season that has been choppy, to say the least.

With the win, Rutgers is now 9-6 (1-2 Big Ten). Indiana falls to 11-5 (3-2 Big Ten).

It wasn’t a pretty night for Rutgers, especially shooting the ball where the Scarlet Knights were just 32.3 percent from the floor. But Rutgers was strong on the boards, outrebounding Indiana 51-40 and held a 19-8 advantage on the offensive glass.

Rutgers was led in scoring by Mawot Mag’s 13 points. Cliff Omorouyi, one of the top centers in the Big Ten, had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots to key the win.

Rutgers basketball has now beaten Indiana in nine of their last 11 meetings, an impressive run of dominance for the Scarlet Knights. And for Rutgers, the Big Ten basketball win helps to steady a rocky season so far.
