Vikings first preseason game against Raiders to be nationally televised

After NFL Media’s latest announcement, the Minnesota Vikings are poised to kick off their preseason schedule on a national stage.

After NFL Media’s latest announcement, the Minnesota Vikings are poised to kick off their preseason schedule on a national stage.

The quarterback battle between Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy will be televised on NFL Network on August 10 at 3:00 PM CST. Sam Darnold is expected to start for the Vikings, with J.J. McCarthy also earning reps. It is yet to be determined if McCarthy will have any series with the first-team offense as he has in practice during training camp.

We will also get an early look at how the other rookies in the class such as Dallas Turner will look against top-end NFL talent such as Kolton Miller. What Davante Adams and the Vikings receivers will do to a Vikings secondary that is still trying to get its footing may not be as fun to watch.

That Saturday is a major day for preseason football on NFL Network as they will have three games nationally televised.

Apart from the Vikings game, they are hosting the production of the Chicago Bears versus the Buffalo Bills at Noon, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jacksonville Jaguars at 6:00 PM CST.

Big Ten Championship Game will be on a new television channel in 2024

Some significant Big Ten television news:

CBS will broadcast the 2024 Big Ten championship game, according to a recent release.

The news comes as networks begin to release their marquee matchups for this fall. Fox already announced Ohio StateMichigan and Wisconsin-Alabama as “Big Noon Kickoff” games. The CBS announcement, however, carries a bit more weight.

The conference championship game moving away from Fox for the first time in its history signals the power CBS holds in the media rights agreement. It was known that the three networks (Fox, CBS, NBC) would split the best inventory evenly, but many thought Fox had the power to keep the title game.

Instead, CBS gets the game in its second year broadcasting the Big Ten.

The network had been the host of the SEC championship game every year since 2001. 2023 marked the end of that run. ESPN is taking over the SEC rights while CBS joins Fox and NBC on the Big Ten.

It was odd to hear the classic CBS theme song play into an Iowa-Penn State game. It will be even odder to hear it play into Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana for the 2024 Big Ten championship.

TV broadcast map for Bucs vs. Texans in Week 9

Here’s where you’ll be able catch Sunday’s Bucs game on TV:

The Buccaneers have the opportunity to start off the month right and shake off the rough stretch they endured the final three games of October.

Tampa Bay (3-4) will travel west and play the Houston Texans (3-4) 1 p.m. EST Sunday at NRG Stadium. The 506 Sports graphic below shows where the Bucs’ Week 9 matchup will be televised. The blue regions will televise the game.

The game will be broadcast by CBS. Ian Eagle and Super Bowl champion Charles Davis will commentate the matchup.

There isn’t much history between the two teams due to the Texans being a member of the AFC and the youngest franchise in the NFL. Tampa Bay and Houston have played five times. The Texans hold a strong lead in the matchup and are 4-1 against the Bucs.

The last time the two teams faced was Dec. 21, 2019 at Raymond James Stadium. Led by QB Jameis Winston, the Bucs lost 23-20, which ended the four-game winning streak they held at the time.

Winston threw one touchdown and four interceptions that game. It is tied for the second-most interceptions he’s thrown in a game and inched him closer to the 30-30 touchdown-interception milestone he achieved in his bizarre 2019 season.

According to ESPN Analytics, the Bucs have a 49% chance of winning Sunday.

NCAA Lacrosse: 8 must-see games of the 2022 season

The men’s and women’s lax seasons look to be full of amazing action in 2022.

The men’s NCAA lacrosse season gets underway in earnest this weekend with No. 3 Duke hosting Robert Morris on February 4 at 5 p.m. ET in a game that will be broadcast by the ACC Network. Mercer picked up the first win of the 2022 season with a victory over Bellarmine on January 29. Thirteen games wait for us on Saturday, including the season-opener for two-time reigning champion Virginia.

The Cavaliers won the title in 2019 — the first for head coach Lars Tiffany — and repeated in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 season. Virginia enters 2022 as the No. 1 team in the nation with returning stars Connor Shellenberger, Matt Moore, Petey LaSalla, and Cade Saustad.

Squads like Maryland, Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Georgetown will be looking to unseat the Cavaliers, and that means fans are in for an incredible ride this season.

On the women’s side, game action doesn’t start until February 11. Boston College finally won the program’s first National Championship last season season after making the title game in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Superstar Charlotte North returns after winning the Tewaaraton Award last season and setting a new NCAA record with 102 goals.

Boston College is one of six ACC teams ranked heading into the season, unsurprisingly opening at No. 1. North Carolina and Syracuse take the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively, so it looks like potentially another ACC-dominated season. Big Ten squads Northwestern (No. 4) and Maryland (No. 9) look to change that.

Let’s take a look at some of the must-see games for this 2022 season!
