Tulane at Tulsa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulane at Tulsa odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 21 Tulane Green Wave (7-1, 4-0 American) travel to Oklahoma for a battle with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-5, 1-3) Saturday. Kickoff from Chapman Stadium is set for noon ET (ESPNU). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tulane vs. Tulsa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tulane comes into this game as the highest-ranked Group of 5 team at No. 19 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Green Wave will need to take Tulsa seriously and not fall into a trap game before its big showdown with No. 25 UCF in 2 weeks.

At this point in the season, Tulsa is looking to play spoiler and the first chance it will have is at home Saturday.

Tulane has made it difficult on itself since entering conference play. In 4 non-conference games, the Green Wave gave up an average of 11.8 points per game. In conference play, this number has nearly doubled to 22 points per game. Tulsa averages 25.8 points in conference play and with this game being played in Oklahoma, it will look to put even more on the board and pull off the upset.

Tulane at Tulsa picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 31, Tulsa 27

Moneyline

PASS on the moneyline.

There is too much juice on one side and not enough value on the other to feel comfortable either way in this game.

Against the spread

BET TULSA +7.5 (-115).

Tulane has averaged an 8.4-point margin of victory in conference play, but with this game being on a road and perhaps a bit of a trap game it looks to be a closer contest.

Tulsa will hope the Green Wave are looking ahead to their showdown with UCF next week and catch them napping. Tulane will start slowing in this one and hang on for the victory. I like TULSA +7.5 (-115) as my favorite play in this game.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 57 (-112).

If Tulsa does come out and go up early as expected, Tulane will be forced to push for a comeback. They should be able to do so as the better team, and this will mean putting points on the board.

The Green Wave can score and are averaging 33.7 points per game in conference play. But giving up only 23 points per game, I do not see Tulsa getting to 30. This game is going to be close to this total, but I do lean slightly to the OVER 57 (-112).

Memphis at Tulane odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis at Tulane odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Tigers (4-3, 2-2 AAC) and the 25th-ranked Tulane Green Wave (6-1, 3-0) play Saturday at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Kickoff for the American Athletic Conference tilt is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Memphis vs. Tulane odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers are coming off an exciting 47-45 loss in 4 overtimes at East Carolina last week. Memphis has scored 32 or more points in 5 of the past 6 outings, and 23 or more points in all 7 games this season with the Over being 6-1.

The Green Wave have used a combination of respectable offense and lock-down defense to pick up their first Top 25 ranking since 1998. The Green Wave’s only blemish is a 27-24 home loss to Southern Miss in their 4th game of the season. Tulane is 6-1 against the spread (ATS), while cashing Under tickets in 5 of their 7 outings.

Memphis at Tulane picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 31, Memphis 27

Moneyline

Tulane (-280) will cost your nearly three times your potential return. That’s just too much risk for not enough reward, especially since Memphis has the offensive potential to hang in this conference game.

AVOID.

Against the spread

MEMPHIS +7.5 (-125) is worth a HALF-UNIT play.

The Tigers average 35.6 points per game (PPG), good to rank 32nd in the country, and they’re 30th with 280.7 passing yards per contest. Memphis has the type of offense to really press Tulane, and if this game were at the Liberty Bowl — the Tigers’ home field — it could be a potential upset.

Tulane will escape with the win, but don’t be surprised to see Memphis keep it within one score.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-108) is the way to be here.

Memphis has cashed the Over in all but one of its games, a 24-3 win over Temple. The Tigers offense like to get to the line quick, pass all over the field and make defenses work hard. On the flip side, the Tigers defense will make anyone look good, especially in the pass game. They allow 301.4 yards per game through the air, ranking 127th in the nation.

Tulane at Houston odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Tulane at Houston odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulane Green Wave (3-1) face off against the Houston Cougars (2-2) Friday. Kickoff from TDECU Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tulane vs. Houston odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Green Wave come into this game after a tough 27-24 loss to Southern Mississippi. The loss came at the hands of a late game pick-6 that ended Tulane’s undefeated season. QB Michael Pratt comes into this game completing 63.5% of his passes (61-of-96) for 905 yards with 7 TDs and 3 INTs.

The Cougars come into this game after getting a 34-27 win against Rice University. A win that, similarly to Tulane’s loss, came down to some big 4th-quarter plays. QB Clayton Tune comes into this game completing just under 65% of his passes (83-of-128) while also posting 7 TDs and 3 INTs.

Tulane at Houston picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 35, Houston 28

Money line

PASS

This is a game that could go either way. Both teams are coming off close games and neither team has a clear advantage on either side of the ball. Tulane has a slightly better defense, but Houston has a slightly better offense. There is no clear way to win money because either team could win.

Against the spread

BET TULANE +2.5 (-107).

Even though I believe this will be a close game I believe that whichever teams wins will do so by at least a field goal. In the last game for each of the 2 teams, the game came down to the 4th quarter, and even in those games both teams either won or lost by a field goal or more, and I see that trend continuing Friday night.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 54.5 (-120).

With 2 offenses that both contain the potential to score 30+ points and a Houston defense that has only once this season held a team to under 30 points, the OVER 54.5 (-120) bet is your second safest to me. Tulane’s offense this year has scored over 40 points once and over 50 points once which tells me that they have offensive firepower at their disposal. Couple this with the fact that Houston has yet to contain a team to less than 27 points and has yet to score less than 30 points themselves and this should be a high scoring game.

AAC Tournament: Tulane vs. Temple odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Tulane vs. Temple AAC Tournament odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The fifth-seeded Tulane Green Wave (13-14) meet the fourth-seeded Temple Owls (17-11) Friday. The quarterfinal in the American Athletic Conference Tournament at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, is slated to tip-off at 3 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tulane vs. Temple odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Tulane went 10-8 in conference play to finish fifth in the AAC. The Green Wave are a very good distance shooting squad; their 36.8% mark from 3-point land leads the American. Tulane went 9-for-18 on triples in a 92-83 overtime win Feb. 12 against Temple but would lose 75-70 to the Owls Feb. 27 to result in a season split.

Temple went 10-7 in conference play to finish fourth. The Owls rely on defense and a slow-tempo style in grinding out their best performances. They’ve held foes to a 40.3% mark from the field since Feb. 7 and have been especially good in defending the perimeter.

Tulane vs. Temple odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Temple 70, Tulane 68

Money line

These are two of the younger teams in NCAA-I hoops. Tulane heads into this contest with more offensive momentum, but Temple has the edge in key areas like offensive rebounding and free-throw rate.

Recent Owls performances at Cincinnati and Memphis were solid. The regular-season games between these two were awfully close. Figure this one being a near-pick-’em: TAKE TEMPLE (-110).

Against the spread

The Temple ML lean is the lean as the primary play here. Some bettors may, however, consider adding a TEMPLE -1.5 (+100) to chase the plus money value in chasing a 2-point victory.

Over/Under

No room on either side: STEER CLEAR.

Cincinnati at Tulane odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati Bearcats at Tulane Green Wave odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 Cincinnati Bearcats (7-0, 3-0 AAC) travel to meet the Tulane Green Wave (1-6, 0-3) Saturday at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Cincinnati vs. Tulane odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Bearcats received a surprise test at Navy last week, winning just 27-20 as 28.5-point favorites. It’s something we’ve seen on the road from UC, as it is averaging just 29.7 points per game (PPG) in three outings on the road, while going for 49.8 PPG in four games at home.

The Green Wave have dropped five straight outings, failing to cover the spread in all five games, too. While Tulane has scored 21 or more points in each of its this season, it has also coughed up 40 or more points in three straight, and in five of seven games overall. The Over is 6-1.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Cincinnati at Tulane odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 45, Tulane 24

Money line

Cincinnati (-2500) is not going to be tripped up by Tulane, but you can’t risk $100 for every $4 won. There is just no value here.

AVOID.

Against the spread

TULANE +25.5 (-108) is awful defensively, but it has the offense to hang, even with a top-ranked team like Cincinnati. We saw the Bearcats look rather disinterested against a poor Navy side last week. That’s not the kind of lackluster victory against a poor opponent that will wow the voters into choosing them for a playoff spot. The Green Wave have a much better offense, and should be able to keep it within three touchdowns at home.

Over/Under

OVER 61.5 (-115) is the best play in this game. The Over has hit in five of the past six AAC battles for UC, while going 6-2 in its past eight as a road favorite.

For Tulane, the Over is 4-0 in the past four as an underdog and 4-1 in the past five against teams with a winning overall mark.

Tulane at SMU odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Tulane Green Wave at SMU Mustangs odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulane Green Wave (1-5, 0-2 AAC) visit the No. 19 SMU Mustangs (6-0, 2-0) Thursday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tulane vs. SMU odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Green Wave dropped their past four outings, and they’re 0-4 ATS during the run. Tulane’s only victory this season is against FCS Morgan State back on Sept. 11. The Over is 5-1 in Tulane’s six outings overall.

The Mustangs are a perfect 6-for-6 this season and slowly climbing in the rankings. SMU is looking to stay unbeaten, trying to set up a titanic battle at the No. 3 Cincinnati Bearcats Nov. 20.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tulane at SMU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

SMU 47, Tulane 30

Money line

SMU (-600) will cost you six times your potential return. That’s just too much risk for not much reward. Over the long term, betting heavy favorites like that will come back to bite you.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

SMU -13.5 (-110) is an attractive play with this line under a flat 14. The Mustangs should be able to make plenty of noise against a Tulane defense yielding 40.2 points per game (PPG), good for 127th out of 130 FBS teams. The Green Wave have also been steamrolled for 475.2 total yards per game to rank 122nd.

Over/Under

OVER 70.5 (-108) is a big number, but SMU should be able to do most of the work on its own. As mentioned, Tulane’s defense is horrific, but the Green Wave can roll up decent totals on offense, and they’re good for 32.8 PPG.

If SMU has an Achilles’ heel, it’s stopping the pass, as it allows 251.8 yards per game through the air. That is what Tulane does best, so the Green Wave will be able to put up some points to help Over bettors.

Houston at Tulane odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Houston Cougars at Tulane Green Wave odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Cougars (4-1, 2-0 AAC) travel to meet the Tulane Green Wave (1-4, 0-1) Thursday at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Houston vs. Tulane odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Houston dusted Tulsa on the road last time out, winning 45-10 to easily cover as a 3.5-point underdog. The Over is also 2-0 in each of the two conference games for the Cougars.

Tulane opened with a 40-35 loss at Oklahoma, nearly pulling off an upset while covering as a 31-point underdog. It’s been all downhill from there as the Green Wave enter on a three-game loss and non-cover skid.

Houston at Tulane odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 41, Tulane 30

Money line

Houston (-240) will cost you 2.4 times your potential return. That’s a little too expensive despite the fact the Cougars are a much better team.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

I like HOUSTON -6.5 (-108) on the road as it has been playing much better football. Tulane has been distracted, and rightly so, recovering from Hurricane Ida.

The Cougars have covered six of the past eight trips to New Orleans, and they’re 13-4 ATS in the previous 17 meetings overall in this series. The favorite is also 14-3 ATS during that 17-game span.

Over/Under

The OVER 60.5 (-112) is the play, mainly due to the struggling defense of Tulane. The Green Wave have allowed 40.2 points per game (PPG), ranking 126th out of 130 FBS teams. They’re also scoring 35.0 PPG, so they keep the scoreboard operator busy.

The Cougars have rolled up 36.6 PPG on offense, ranking 24th, while they have allowed just 15.0 PPG to rank 10th on defense. Houston’s D is the only concern on playing this Over.

Tulane at Mississippi odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulane at Mississippi odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulane Green Wave (1-1) and Mississippi Rebels (2-0) meet Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tulane vs. Mississippi odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Green Wave have overcome a lot so far this season, dealing with Hurricane Ida on campus, and then having its marquee game against Oklahoma moved for Week 1.

Tulane has responded well, falling 40-35 in a near-miss against the Sooners for an easy cover, before spanking Morgan State of the FCS by a 69-20 score last week to cover a 47.5-point number. Tulane is also a friend of the Over bettor going a perfect 2-for-2 so far.

The Rebels, No. 16 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, have also dealt with some adversity.

Head coach Lane Kiffin missed the opener in Atlanta against Louisville after testing positive due to COVID-19. They showed tremendous poise, manhandling the Cardinals 43-24. They came home and roughed up FCS Austin Peay 54-17, flexing more offensive muscle.

Tulane at Mississippi odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mississippi 47, Tulane 38

Money line

Mississippi (-650) is going to win this game, and they have the tools on offense to put up a lot of points. But this Tulane (+440) is battle tested, on and off the field, and they are going to give the Rebels its best fight of the season.

Risking six-and-a-half times your potential return is not recommended, especially against a dangerous offense like Tulane, who went toe-to-toe with Oklahoma.

AVOID.

Against the spread

TULANE +14.5 (-115) catching more than two touchdowns is a good play. They exchanged blows with Oklahoma and came up just short against the Sooners and their Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback.

The Green Wave will face another great signal caller, as QB Matt Corral is a tremendous player. However, the Green Wave won’t be intimidated by the Rebels, or the scene in “The Grove”, after all they’ve been through in the past month. I like them to put up another good fight, and grab a third straight cover, before falling short on the scoreboard in the end.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 76.5 (-105) is worth a look. The scoreboard operator at Vaught-Hemingway better be ready, and hopefully they have replaced the lightbulbs before kickoff. Because the scoreboard is going to get lit up.

Ole Miss has rolled up 599.5 total yards of offense, good for fourth in the nation, while scoring 48.5 PPG. The defense has been good, but not great, allowing 20.5 PPG.

Tulane has registered 52.0 PPG in two outings while posting 490.0 total yards per outing. And they’re allowing 30.0 PPG. This will be like a video game with huge offensive totals and points. Enjoy the ride.

Oklahoma vs. Tulane odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Tulane odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Oklahoma Sooners and Tulane Green Wave meet Saturday in the season opener at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Oklahoma vs. Tulane odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Tulane is listed as the home team, although the game was moved from New Orleans to Norman due to damage and power loss caused by Hurricane Ida last weekend.

Oklahoma begins the season No. 3 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, and boasts the Heisman Trophy favorite in QB Spencer Rattler. OU has averaged better than 40 points per game in each of the past six seasons, and that streak is expected to continue yet again in 2021.

RB Eric Gray transfers in from Tennessee to Oklahoma to give the Sooners a boost, and WR Michael Woods II comes in from Arkansas to give OU even more depth in the receiving corps.

Oklahoma vs. Tulane odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 55, Tulane 17

Money line

Oklahoma (-10000) will cost you $100 for every $1 won, so obviously you cannot make that bet. Yes, the Sooners should be able to win this one rather handily but if you make this bet 100 times and lose just once, you’re in the red. Why risk it?

AVOID.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA -31.5 (-103) is worth a look. Rattler and the Sooners offense will fire out of the gate and roll up big points in the first half. The only concern is the defense, which should be improved.

Over/Under

Roll with the OVER 67.5 (-115), as the Sooners should do the heavy lifting with a big number. The biggest concern is whether the Green Wave can score enough.

This one might not be decided until late in the fourth quarter, so tread lightly.

  • Money line: Tulane +1800 (bet $100 to win $1,800) | Houston -10000 (bet $10,000 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tulane +19.5 (-120) | Houston -19.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 128.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Tulane at Houston: Three things to know

  1. Tulane has scored more than 70 points in just two of eight games this season. The Green Wave’s 66.0 points per game rank 295th in NCAA-I hoops. Some of the team’s suppressed offensive numbers are slow-pace related, but Tulane has struggled in shooting, taking care of the ball and with offensive rebounding.
  2. The struggling Green Wave offense will be up against a Houston defense ranked third in the nation, allowing just 57.0 PPG. Over their last six games, the Cougars are plus-3.6 in average turnover margin (forcing 15.0 per game) while holding opponents to a 36.5% field-goal mark. At home, UH is 6-0 and hasn’t allowed more than 67 points in any game.
  3. Wednesday, Houston edged Wichita State 70-63 in a game too close for comfort from a UH perspective. Despite being an 11-point favorite, the Cougars trailed over the middle third of the game and were embroiled in a two-possession back-and-forth until the final seven minutes of action.

Tulane at Houston: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Houston 72, Tulane 51

Money line (ML)

STEER CLEAR of a juice-filled price here.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Cougars are 7-2 over their last nine home games when they are lined as 16-to-30-point favorites. Houston’s Dec. 22 home game against Temple — a 76-50 Cougars victory — fits as a decent comp for this game. UH has had multiple other double-digit wins against much better foes, and in some of those games (Dec. 5 vs. South Carolina, Dec. 26 at UCF, Jan. 3 at SMU) the Cougars had off shooting nights or weren’t at their best overall.

The line has turned many a bettor toward Tulane in this one but the UH defense is just that stifling. TAKE HOUSTON -19.5 (+100).

Over/Under (O/U)

Houston’s last game — it’s worst from a created turnover perspective (percent of possessions) — gives head coach Kelvin Sampson and staff much ammunition for getting a superior effort in this one. Against an offense that has plenty of struggles on its own, a low-50s total for Tulane would not be a surprise.

TAKE THE UNDER 128.5 (-110).
