Chargers roster bubble: 4 players who helped their cause in preseason Week 2

Which Chargers helped themselves as a result of their performances in Week 2 vs. the Rams? Let’s take a look at who impressed.

There’s just a little over a week until all NFL rosters must be cut down to 53 players.

Which players helped themselves the most due to their performances in Week 2 against the Rams? With one preseason game left, let’s look at who impressed.

RB Kimani Vidal

Vidal did not play in the preseason opener as he was dealing with an injury. But in his first NFL game, he showed why he’s worthy of being a part of the running back rotation. The former Troy product finished with 49 yards on 11 carries. He gained 13 and 8 yards on his first two carries, respectively. Vidal displayed tremendous vision and burst to pick up yardage.

WR Simi Fehoko

I’ve had rookie Brenden Rice in my 53-man roster projections for the past month, but that will likely change. Fehoko has put together a solid summer, and he continued to show up on Saturday. He led all receivers with 52 yards on two catches. However, his performance went beyond what he did as a pass-catcher. Fehoko showed great effort as a blocker and made a huge tackle on kickoff coverage.

S Thomas Harper

AJ Finley has made his case for the third safety, but there should be one more spot in the position room. While JT Woods has shown improvement, Harper, the undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, has also impressed enough to be considered for it. Harper had a pass breakup on fourth down. In the first game of the preseason against the Seahawks, he had a sack.

TE/FB Tucker Fisk

The run blocking was good and Fisk played a part in it. Signed just last week, Fisk came in and was integral as a blocker at tight end and fullback, including on Vidal’s 13-yard run. If he continues to show up in this department in the preseason finale against the Cowboys, he could earn the spot as the fourth tight end.

Chargers sign TE Tucker Fisk

Tucker Fisk was previously with the Falcons.

The Chargers signed tight end Tucker Fisk on Wednesday, the team announced.

Fisk was waived by the Falcons with an injury settlement earlier this offseason.

Appearing in six games, Fisk caught one pass for nine yards with Atlanta. He logged 81 special teams snaps.

Before joining the NFL ranks, Fisk played collegiately at Stanford from 2017 to 2021. At tight end, he logged nine catches for 74 yards and one touchdown. At defensive end, Fisk had 17 tackles, two sacks and a pass deflection.

Fisk will compete for a roster spot with Donald Parham, Stone Smartt, Luke Benson and Zach Heins.

Falcons TE Tucker Fisk fined by NFL for unnecessary roughness

Falcons TE Tucker Fisk has been fined by the NFL for unnecessary roughness

The Atlanta Falcons have received yet another fine from the NFL for unnecessary roughness. Tight end Tucker Fisk gets the pleasure of paying $4,167 for an infraction he committed during Sunday’s 29-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Fisk spent most of the year on the practice squad but was signed to the team’s 53-man roster when fullback Keith Smith was placed on the injured reserve list last week.

Falcons release OT Rick Leonard, sign TE Tucker Fisk

On Friday, the Falcons released veteran OT Rick Leonard and signed TE Tucker Fisk to take his place on the 80-man roster.

Three days after cutting their roster down to 80 players, the Atlanta Falcons have announced a few more transactions.

On Friday, the team released veteran offensive tackle Rick Leonard and signed TE Tucker Fisk to take his place on the 80-man roster. Atlanta also released DB Cornell Armstrong from the injured reserve list with an injury settlement.

While Leonard’s release isn’t a total surprise, it was somewhat unexpected after he survived Tuesday’s cut deadline. Meanwhile, Fisk was released during the first wave of cuts, but he now gets a chance to redeem himself in the team’s final preseason game on Saturday.

The Falcons must get down to 53 players by the NFL’s final cut deadline on Tuesday, August 30. Neither Leonard, nor Fisk made the cut in our latest 53-man roster projection, but that’s why they play the games.

Falcons sign WR Geronimo Allison, two other players

The Falcons have signed veteran wide receiver Geronimo Allison, tight end Tucker Fisk and defensive back Tre Webb.

The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up rookie minicamp over the weekend and on Monday, they added three camp attendees to their roster.

According to the team’s Twitter account, the Falcons have signed veteran wide receiver Geronimo Allison, tight end Tucker Fisk and defensive back Tre Webb.

Allison is another big wideout (6-foot-3), who goes along with the team’s recent trend of signing tall pass-catchers. The 28-year-old spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and one with the Detroit Lions. Over his 49 career NFL games, Allison has 89 catches for 1,045 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Fisk is a versatile tight end that played both offense and defense at Stanford. As for Webb, the former San Jose State standout transferred to Montana State in 2021. He played with Falcons second-round pick Troy Andersen last season.

Atlanta also released Chad Hansen, Luther Kirk and Daniel Helm.
