True releases ‘Zero Drop’ OG Cush golf shoes

A unique zero-drop design, added cushioning, and breathable upper help to make this shoe more comfortable on and off the course.

True was founded in 2009 to make shoes that appeal to golfers who walk. From the start, the focus has been on comfort, fit and versatility. With the launch of its new OG Cush golf shoe, True has tried to take the best elements of its original design, enhance them, and add more cushioning without sacrificing the barefoot feel and stability that made True footwear appealing to many players.

The most unique feature about the OG Cush, and what separates True footwear from nearly every other brand’s offerings, is its zero drop platform. Zero drop means your heel and forefoot are at the same height above the ground. In traditional footwear, there is typically a difference in height between your heel and the forefoot, with your heel being slightly higher than your toe. This is called the “heel-to-toe drop.” Measured in millimeters, the larger the drop, the more your heels will be elevated above your toes. Advocates of zero-drop footwear note that these shoes put your feet in their natural position, promote less forward lean, engage the muscles in your feet and legs, and promote enhanced stability and balance.

For those reasons, zero-drop footwear is popular with rock climbers, weight lifters, and CrossFit athletes, but a better connection with the ground, more stability and less forward lean can be beneficial to golfers as well.

While the OG Cush is zero drop, it still features 6 millimeters of foam underfoot to enhance cushioning while you walk, but the foam adapts to the shape of each golfer’s foot over time instead of remaining stiff. The forefoot areas of the shoes are also designed to EEE width to allow plenty of room for your feet to spread out naturally as well.

The upper of the OG Cush is made from a highly-breathable, water-resistant mesh material. The spikeless OG Cush features an outsole that is covered with small T-shaped lugs that help to provide traction. The shoe relies on these traction elements, the zero-drop design and the wider toe box to provide golfers with stability instead of spikes. As an added benefit, the OG Cush can easily be worn off the course when you are not playing.

The upper, mid-sole and outsole of OG Cush are not rigid. In fact, you can easily twist and bend the OG Cush with your hands, again, in keeping with the idea that golfers benefit from getting the muscles in their feet, ankles and legs more actively involved in the swing.

The OG Cush is available in five colorways in sizes from 7 to 15 for men and 5.5 to 11 for women for $175.
