TV channel, start time revealed for Wisconsin Badgers Week 5 game against USC

Start time revealed for Wisconsin Badgers Week 5 game against USC

The Wisconsin Badgers will travel to play the No. 11 USC Trojans in Week 5 of the 2024 football season. It will be the Badgers’ Big Ten opener after they sat idle during Week 4.

The game, as recently announced, will be at 3:30 p.m. ET, 2:30 p.m. CT next Saturday, Sept. 28.

UW received its start time on Saturday following a six-day selection by television networks. CBS will broadcast the game with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Jenny Dell on the call.

This will mark the second time Wisconsin has played at 3:30 p.m. ET in 2024. Luke Fickell’s team previously squared off against the South Dakota Coyotes during that timeslot in Week 2. It will be the team’s second-consecutive nationally-televised game after losing to No. 4 Alabama on Fox Big Noon Kickoff.

Lincoln Riley’s squad will enter the Week 5 contest following a 27-24 defeat at the hands of the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor on Sept. 21. Just 37 seconds bridged the gap between a victory and defeat for USC in its first Big Ten football game in its illustrious history.

If anything, the back-and-forth should cause Badger fans some concern for their first road and conference game of the season. Outside of his pick-six sequence late in the third quarter, experienced quarterback Miller Moss handled the stout Michigan defense quite well.

UW’s defense, meanwhile, is clearly worse than what the Wolverines can offer. On Sept. 14, Wisconsin allowed 42 points to the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide at Camp Randall.

To put that into context, Alabama quarterback Jaden Milroe threw 17 passes in the 42-10 thumping. Moss’ fewest completion attempts in a single game this season is 30.

Sure, USC may take a hit in the latest AP poll. In the end, the Trojans are a better overall team than Wisconsin in every single unit on the field.

Fickell and company will look to prove their doubters wrong at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 28.

The University of Southern California sold out its Sept. 28 home game against the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday, per The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

USC also sold out its Week 12 home game vs. No. 22 Nebraska, which is slated to take place on Nov. 16.

Completed in 1923, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum holds nearly 78,000 fans. The venue has hosted two Summer Olympics (1932, 1984) and will welcome athletes for the Olympic Games in 2028. The venue will be jam-packed when the Badgers visit town.

The Trojans’ Week 5 game will be the second home game of their 2024 schedule. Lincoln Riley’s squad trounced Utah State, 48-0, in its home opener on Sept. 7.

UW’s fourth game will simultaneously mark its first road and first conference test of the 2024 season. Wisconsin most recently lost to the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in a 42-10 blowout at Camp Randall.

Wisconsin will spend its weekend preparing for the Trojans during its bye week window. USC, on the other hand, will travel to Ann Arbor for a premier matchup against No. 18 Michigan.

Captained by Miller Moss, who played second fiddle to future No. 1 pick Caleb Williams a season ago, USC has amassed victories over both No. 16 LSU and Utah State thus far. With another triumph over a ranked team, the team will surely rise in the national polls ahead of Week 5.

The Wisconsin Badgers will not receive a start time for their upcoming Week 5 game against No. 11 USC until the Week 4 schedule concludes.

UW’s first away kickoff time will instead be designated to a six-day selection by television networks. Other Week 5 games Minnesota vs. Michigan and Illinois vs. Penn State also are yet to receive a kickoff time as of Sept. 16.

The Trojans will be the second consecutive ranked opponent the Badgers square off against. Luke Fickell’s crew recently suffered a 42-10 loss at home against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Because USC’s home field is located in Los Angeles, Wisconsin fans will need to adjust to the Pacific Time Zone start time for the Big Ten opener.

USC, captained by quarterback Miller Moss, currently holds the No. 11 spot in the AP’s latest national hierarchy. The Trojans have defeated No. 16 LSU 27-20 and Utah State 48-0 in their first two contests of the season.

Moss and Co. will square off against the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines, however, on Sept. 21. The game will take place in Ann Arbor and certainly require every ounce of energy USC can offer if it wishes to prevail.

This could potentially impact the Trojans’ performance against the Badgers. Still, if UW wishes to appear competitive, its offense will need to look consistent and competent on the road.
