Messi scores, takes off shirt to unveil a touching tribute to Diego Maradona

Messi ripped off his shirt to reveal Maradona’s Newell’s Old Boys shirt — the same club where Messi began his youth career.

Lionel Messi scored for Barcelona against Osasuna on Sunday, then took off his shirt to reveal the jersey of Newell’s Old Boys — the Argentine club where Messi began his youth career, and where the late Diego Maradona played briefly during the early 1990s.

It was a touching tribute to Maradona, who passed away this week at the age of 60.

Messi and Maradona will forever be linked, both due to their nationality,  their playing style, and their diminutive height. They will also be linked due to that time at Newell’s Old Boys — a video surfaced this week showing a 6-year-old Messi on the field in a match where Maradona featured.

Fans everywhere mourned Sean Connery after he passed away at 90 years old

Rest in peace, Sean Connery.

It’s rare for actors to have work that span across multiple generations, but for Sean Connery that rings so true.

That’s why fans everywhere were crushed when they learned about his passing on Saturday. The former James Bond star passed away at 90 years old, according to the BBC. They were notified by his son, Jason, that he passed away in his sleep next to family.

Connery was a star amongst stars. Through an acting career that touched five decades, he played in countless classic films including The Hunt for Red October, Highlander as well as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

He is best known to some as the original 007, as he played James Bond across a number of Bond films.

Peers and fans alike took to Twitter to mourn the fallen icon.

What a legend. He will be missed.

Neymar celebrates PSG goal with homage to Kobe Bryant

Neymar put up the numbers 2 and 4 to pay homage to the late Kobe Bryant after scoring for PSG against Lille.

The sporting world was shocked and horrified on Sunday when reports broke that Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had died in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles.

There were on-court tributes in NBA games, and NBA players visibly shaken by the reports.

The news also hit France, where Brazilian star Neymar celebrated his second goal of the day for PSG by walking somberly to the camera, then holding up a 2 and a 4. Kobe Bryant wore 24. Neymar then held his hands together in prayer, then pointed up to the sky, a nice gesture from one great athlete to another.
