Just 24 hours ago, the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns met on the field at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns prevailed in this matchup 27-16 to pick up their second conference win and third overall. One of the key factors in the game was Texas limiting the Baylor rushing attack to just 64 yards in the game. Now the Bears offense is going to look a lot different moving forward.
It was reported by Sicem365.com that both Trestan Ebner and John Lovett have opted out of the 2020 season. The Bears suffered their second loss in three games this year. In their opener against Kansas, Ebner returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He has been one of their most explosive players this year.
The news comes on the heels of Baylor’s 27-16 loss on Saturday to Texas where the co-starters touched the ball a combined 16 times for 85 yards.
Lovett was Baylor’s leading rusher in each of his first three seasons, rushing for 1,795 yards and 17 touchdowns beginning in 2017. Ebner cumulated 844 yards on 164 carries with seven touchdowns and caught 83 passes for 1,047 yards and seven touchdowns over the same span.
Not the greatest news for a Baylor team that has struggled out of the gate. Against Texas the Bears accounted for 316 yards of offense total. They really couldn’t get rolling into the fourth quarter when the Longhorns had the game well in hand. Could be tough sledding for the first year head coach in Dave Aranda.
