5 takeaways from the Bills’ 44-34 win over the Seahawks

Buffalo Bills takeaways following win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

The Bills got the one they needed.

Against the Seahawks (6-2), the Bills (7-2) won 44-34. Buffalo was the underdog and the team that hadn’t gotten the big win in 2020 yet.

They’ve certainly got it now.

With that, here are five takeaways from the Bills’ win over the Seahawks in Week 9:

Running game takes backseat

The Bills did the correct thing against the Seahawks, and that move did not benefit Buffalo’s backfield. Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll put together a game plan which leaned on the arm of quarterback Josh Allen.

Last week against the Patriots, the Bills unleashed running backs Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. The duo had 87 and 81 yards, respectively. But that had to do with the weather forecast and the windy conditions.

Heading into their Seahawks matchup, Daboll didn’t overthink things. The Seahawks did get safety Jamal Adams and pass rusher Carolos Dunlap into their lineup, but Buffalo didn’t back down. Allen tossed the ball… a lot. Buffalo had 18 passes last week and pushed near 40 passes against Seattle (38). Buffalo’s QB finished the game with a massive 415 passing yards with three passing scores, too. Over the course of Allen’s last four outings, he had four passing scores combined. Benefitting from that was Stefon Diggs (9 catches, 118 yards) and John Brown (8-99).

The reason there was no “overthinking” by Daboll was because the Seahawks came to Bills Stadium as the worst pass defense in the NFL. The Bills should have put faith in their QB for this one, and did. It paid off.
