Colorado adds another four-star recruit to their class of 2023

On Christmas Eve, North Caddo (La.) four-star wide receiver Omarion Miller signed with Colorado.

He still has a long way to go, but Deion Sanders is building up a contender in Colorado. Over the holiday weekend, the Buffaloes added another four-star recruit to their class of 2023.

On Christmas Eve, North Caddo (La.) four-star wide receiver Omarion Miller signed with Colorado.

Miller (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) had previously been committed to Nebraska but opened up his recruiting on December 2. He had nine offers all together, including LSU, Miami and South Carolina.

Few receivers around the country have been more productive than Miller over the last few yeaars. Since his Sophomore season he’s totaled 154 catches, 3,492 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns.

After being slotted at No. 61 just a few weeks ago, Colorado’s 2023 recruiting class is now ranked No. 23 in the nation. Miller is the third four-star prospect they’ve recruited since Sanders was hired, but their real progress has come via the transfer portal. Five-star cornerback Travis Hunter is the biggest prizeย and several other blue chip players have also transferred. The Buffaloes’ transfer class ranks No. 3 in the country.

The No. 1 player in the 2022 recruiting class is following Coach Prime to Colorado.

Travis Hunter announced yesterday that he’s transferring from Jackson State, where Deion Sanders had been serving as head coach prior to accepting the position at Colorado. Hunter announced the news on his Youtube channel and shared it on Twitter.

A hybrid cornerback and wide receiver, Hunter (6-foot-1, 165 pounds) was a five-star plus recruit last year and the top overall prospect in the entire class.

During his time at Collins Hill (Ga.) Hunter put up some stupendous numbers on both sides of the ball, including 48 touchdown catches, 4,373 all-purpose yards and 19 interceptions.

Hunter turned heads last year by flipping his commitment from Florida State to Jackson State on the first day of the Early Signing Period, dubbed by some as the biggest surprise in recruiting history.

As a Freshman at Jackson State he played eight games, posting 18 catches, 188 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver. As a cornerback, he totaled 20 tackles, eight passes defensed, two picks and a fumble recovery.

Colorado’s transfer class now ranks No. 7 in the nation.

Could USC land former No. 1 overall recruit Travis Hunter?

.@BuffaloesWire would likely agree Colorado is still the favorite to land Hunter because of Deion Sanders, but don’t completely rule out the Trojans just yet.

Jackson State star Travis Hunter, the top-ranked overall player in the 2022 class per 247Sports, has entered the transfer portal after announcing his decision Sunday night.

Hunter finished with 18 catches for 188 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. The star freshman helped force overtime in the Celebration Bowl with a 19-yard TD catch as time expired. Hunter finished his final game with JSU with four catches for 47 yards and two TDs.

On defense at cornerback, Travis Hunter had 20 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

Hunter’s departure comes on the heels of Tiger head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders departing to take the same position at Colorado on Dec. 3.

In the weeks following his hiring, Sanders has brought key pieces of his Jackson State regime to Boulder. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s son, entered the transfer portal shortly after the Celebration Bowl, and is expected to join his father with the Buffaloes alongside a few others, potentially including Hunter.

Colorado still has to be considered the favorite to land Hunter; several of his Jackson State teammates are expected to follow Sanders to Boulder.

Keep an eye out for USC, Miami and Georgia as well, however. Hunter is a Georgia native and UGA has had the best defense in the country the past two seasons.

USC and Miami are places where Hunter — who some people have called the next Prime Time — could play both ways on offense and defense. Hunter is projected to play corner at the next level but is an amazing red zone threat on offense with his 40-inch vertical and 6-2 frame.

Jackson State’s Travis Hunter hauled in an incredible touchdown with 2 seconds left to force overtime

An unbelievable catch!

Jackson State’s do-it-all football star Travis Hunter kept his team’s hopes alive during the Celebration Bowl on Saturday.

Needing a touchdown to force overtime against North Carolina Central, Jackson State quarterback Shedeur Sanders found Hunter in the end zone for a bomb in the game’s final seconds. Hunter came down with the breathtaking touchdown to set up the tying kick.

It’s just not common to see a player like Hunter make a catch like this. He primarily plays cornerback for Jackson State, but he’s filtered into the passing game some just because he’s so talented.

The play kept Jackson State in the game and gave Hunter plenty of reason to feel confident in his ability to turn heads on both sides of the ball.

Now that’s how you score an overtime-forcing touchdown right before the final horn. While Jackson State lost the contest 41-34, Hunter’s outstanding catch will still become the stuff of legend.

Hunter clearly has a bright future ahead of him in football, with him likely following head coach Deion Sanders to Colorado.

For now, Jackson State fans will be able to look back fondly at someone who will more than likely go down as one of the best players in the program’s history.

Jackson State forces overtime on touchdown pass with no time left

Jackson State with the miracle TD pass to force overtime in the Celebration Bowl

Sixty minutes wasn’t enough to close the Deion Sanders era at Jackson State.

That’s because the coach’s son, Shedeur, threw a touchdown pass to Travis Hunter, the five-star recruit, on a fourth-and-10 as time ran out in regulation.

The scoring play was good for 19 yards and rather than try for a 2-point conversion and win the game, Deion Sanders went for the PAT, which was good and the game went to overtime at 34-34.

All that was at stake was the HBCU national championship and a perfect season for Jackson State.

There was controversy on the 15-play drive as Shedeur Sanders spiked the ball and then walked toward the Tigers’ bench despite no timeout being called.

The officials somehow whiffed on keeping the play clock going and North Carolina Central eventually called time to settle after the chaotic moment.

LOOK: Nick Saban stands firm in his NIL opinion, apologizes for singling out programs

Nick Saban addressed his controversial comments regarding NIL, Texas A&M and Jackson State.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban called out Texas A&M, Jackson State and Miami for how they have utilized the newly-passed name, image, likeness (NIL) policy. While it was originally intend for student-athletes to use their personal brands to land endorsements and sponsorship deals, it is allegedly being used by some as a way to entice recruits to commit to their program.

Saban referenced that the Crimson Tide’s 2022 recruiting class finished the cycle as the second-ranked class behind the Aggies out of College Station. He cites ‘buying players’ as the reason as to why that is.

Jimbo Fisher held a very heated press conference where he called out Saban. Even going as far as calling him a narcissist, that he should have been slapped as a child, needs to have his past looked into and that he’s done talking with the seven-time national championship-winning head coach.

Saban went on the radio to clarify some things. Here’s what he had to say.
