Tigers announce the addition of 7 transfers

The Tigers brought in an impressive group of transfers on Friday.

LSU coach Brian Kelly said he didn’t want to take away from high school early signing day by formally announcing transfer portal additions, but several had already been made public, and we knew that the Tigers would be looking to add several players.

On Friday, seven of those transfer decisions were made public.

The haul is highlighted by a pair of former five-stars in receiver [autotag]Aaron Anderson[/autotag] and cornerback [autotag]Denver Harris[/autotag], 2022 prospects who come in after one season at Alabama and Texas A&M, respectively. Otherwise, the Tigers filled a major need by adding several defensive lineman.

Here’s the full group of players that were formally announced by LSU on Friday.

Former Alabama LB King Mwikuta re-enters transfer portal

Former Alabama LB King Mwikuta has entered the transfer portal for a third time. He spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama has seen its share of additions and losses to its roster over the years thanks to the NCAA transfer portal. One of those players is former Alabama linebacker King Mwikuta, who transferred to Arkansas State before the start of the 2022 season. The native of West Point, Georgia re-entered the transfer portal again on Friday, according to Chris Hummer.

This will be the third time that Mwikuta has entered the transfer portal in his college career. He entered the transfer portal in June of 2021 but withdrew his name from the transfer portal just days later. Then, he decided to enter the transfer portal again after the conclusion of the 2021 season. This time Mwikuta went through with it and landed at Arkansas State.

However, he spent just six months with the program before reports circulated that he was off the team. The report was confirmed on Twitter by Region 8 News Sports Anchor Logan Whaley. Since then, he has re-entered the transfer portal for the third time.

In his career at Alabama, he recorded six tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in 35 games. He was primarily used on special teams for the Crimson Tide. One of his most memorable moments at Alabama was when he recovered a blocked punt against Texas A&M for a touchdown. As it stands, he is looking for a third destination for his senior season. He still has two years of eligibility remaining if he chooses to use the extra COVID year.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Mwikuta’s career as well as other former Alabama players that have transferred elsewhere.

Alabama’s freshman forward Raymond Hawkins has entered the transfer portal, first reported on Friday afternoon by Matt Zenitz with AL.com.

Hawkins was a late addition to the Crimson Tide’s 2019 basketball recruiting class. The Nevada native was originally committed to Buffalo when Alabama head coach Nate Oats was still leading that program.

The former three-star prospect played in six games for Alabama and was a potential contributor for the future of the program.

As of right now, there is no word yet as to why Hawkins decided to enter his name into the portal, and it isn’t a guarantee, at least not at this tone, that he won’t be with the program for his sophomore season.

Either way, he will always be remembered for his reaction when Alabama sent Auburn to overtime on the road back in February:

Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Hawkins’ time in the transfer portal and where he decides to enroll for the 2020-2021 season!
