Police release body camera footage from Chris Olave arrest

The Kenner Police Department released body camera footage from Chris Olave’s arrest Monday night:

The Kenner Police Department released body camera footage from Chris Olave’s arrest Monday night during a traffic stop, which was an odd move; Kenner PD had not posted any videos on their official YouTube account in five years prior to this, nor had they ever shared footage of an arrest in this fashion.

Maybe it’s due to Chris Olave’s status as a public figure and member of the New Orleans Saints, with Kenner PD looking to heighten visibility of the incident. If that’s the case, their arresting officer was unimpressed when Olave brought up his place on the team during the traffic stop.

“I play for the Saints, man,” Olave volunteered.

The officer responded, “And?”

Olave was transported to Kenner City Jail where he was booked and released without issue. Additionally, Kenner PD said in a press release that this was Olave’s second speeding ticket in recent months after he was stopped for driving 54 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone on Aug. 21.
