Michigan football makes top group for 2027 quarterback

Very early in the process, but still good news. #GoBlue

Michigan football still isn’t done on the 2025 recruiting trail, but it’s simultaneously turning its attention not only to 2026, but also 2027.

Against Oregon, the Wolverines hosted the No. 1 player in the country in 2027 in five-star quarterback Elijah Haven. But not all eggs are in that basket. There’s another who has an offer from the maize and blue who is strongly considering Michigan as his potential future destination.

Enter Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic four-star quarterback Trae Taylor. The 2027 prospect who is 6-foot-2, 170 pounds revealed his early top 12 and Michigan made the cut along with Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, NC State, Iowa, West Virginia, Illinois, and LSU.

Though that’s a big range of suitors, the fact that the Wolverines have already offered (that offer came in June 2023) shows that they’ve laid some ground work. There’s a long time until his cycle and things could ebb and flow, but it’s a positive sign to see Michigan in a good spot at this juncture.

Rivals is the only service that has rated Taylor at this point, and he’s the No. 33 player in the 2027 clas according to the recruiting site.

Huskers hosting top 2027 QB target for Wisconsin game

Highly recruited quarterback Trae Taylor will be in town on Saturday.

Class of 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor will visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers this weekend as they take on the Wisconsin Badgers.

According to the Rivals rankings, Taylor is the 33rd-ranked quarterback nationally. He has visited Nebraska twice this season, last on October 5.

The sophomore had a solid year at Carmel High School in Illinois. He threw for 3,061 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also has 41 carries for 342 yards and four touchdowns.

The 2027 Nebraska football recruiting class currently has no commitments at this time. The Huskers have a solid string of quarterback talent, already on the roster and committed in future classes.

The program struggled initially recruiting quarterback depth for the 2025 class. However, they have done a better job of identifying targets at the position for the 2026 and 2027 classes. It’s clear they are zeroing in on Taylor, and it will be interesting to see how his recruitment progresses.

Class of 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor is going to visit Nebraska this weekend. Rivals.com’s Tim Verghese reported this. The quarterback hails from Carmel Catholic High School out of Mundelein, IL.

Taylor has offers from Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Kentucky for a total of 25 offers. He is scheduled to visit Illinois on October 19. He has visited Illinois quite frequently over the last year and a half, visiting the campus on April 20, March 26, and September 23 of last year.

Currently, Nebraska football has zero commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. That being said, it’s clear that they want to add additional talent at the quarterback position for the future. The Huskers already have TJ Lateef in the fold for the 2025 class, and Dayton Raiola in the 2026 class.

It will certainly be interesting to follow Taylor’s recruitment, given Nebraska’s talent at the position for the future. It’s certainly a positive that they’re getting him on campus.
