If you thought the Kansas City Chiefs were done celebrating their Super Bowl LVII victory, guess again.

The team has been to the White House and had their Super Bowl LVII ring ceremony, but now they’re taking the show on the road to celebrate with their fans across the Midwest. On Wednesday, the club announced the “Chiefs Champions Tour.”

“We are thrilled to announce our Chiefs Champions Tour this summer,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said, via press release. “With a global pandemic in 2020, we were not able to celebrate properly with Chiefs Kingdom after our Super Bowl LIV victory, so this tour has been something we have been looking forward to for the past couple of years. We are proud of the team here that helped put together this summer-long trip that invites the Kingdom to celebrate with us.”

The tour will hit four states with the Lombardi Trophy making stops in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. Here is the current schedule of events:

  • Saturday, June 24 – Omaha Baseball Village at The Old Mattress Factory, Omaha, Neb.
  • Tuesday-Wednesday, June 27-28 – Missouri State House, Jefferson City, Mo.
  • Saturday, July 1 – Scheels Grand Opening Celebration, Wichita, Kan.
  • Sunday, July 16 – Helzberg Diamonds, Leawood, Kan.

Saints-Rams preseason game is now the first event on SoFi Stadium calendar

A series of canceled musician tours due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has elevated the Saints-Rams preseason game at SoFi Stadium.

The New Orleans Saints will open their 2020 regular season in a big-time matchup against Tom Brady and the new-look Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but first they’ll kick off their four-game preseason schedule with a road trip against the Los Angeles Rams. And as of now, that Saints-Rams exhibition game is the first event to take place at the under-construction SoFi Stadium.

Event cancellations have followed in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, with musicians including Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, and Guns N’ Roses each postponing their tours. That clears up SoFi Stadium’s calendar through to August, when the Saints and Rams are scheduled to kick off some time between August 13-17; the specific date hasn’t been nailed down yet, so stay tuned for updated information.

It’s looking like the Saints will get to open up two of the NFL’s shiny new venues this year, between this preseason game at SoFi Stadium and their Week 2 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The Saints have put up a stronger record as visitors (going 14-2 from 2018 to 2019, including the postseason) than as hosts (going 13-6 in that same time) in recent years, so this is a great opportunity to reestablish themselves as road warriors.
