Raptors at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 115, Hornets 105

Moneyline

PASS.

Toronto (-1000) has won 4 of its last 5 games and should have no problem beating the shorthanded Hornets twice in 3 days. However, the Raptors are being slightly overvalued on the moneyline. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET HORNETS +14.5 (-110).

The Raptors are just 3-11 ATS this season as an away favorite and expecting them to go on the road and beat a team by more than 14 points twice in 3 days is a tough ask. While Toronto had an impressive win last time out and has played better at home recently, the Raptors are still mediocre on the road. Toronto is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 road games and 1-5 ATS in its last 6 on the road vs. teams with a losing home record.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 223.5 (-115).

The Under is 21-7 in Charlotte’s last 28 games and 11-5 in Toronto’s last 16 on the road vs. teams with a home winning percentage below .400. Look for Charlotte to bounce back defensively Tuesday since the Under is 4-0 in its last 4 after allowing more than 125 points and 6-1 in its last 7 after a loss by more than 10.

Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (38-39) and Charlotte Hornets (26-52) meet Sunday at Spectrum Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Hornets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors failed to cover the spread as 4-point underdogs Friday in a 117-110 loss at the Philadelphia 76ers. G Scottie Barnes scored a game-high 29 points as Toronto’s 3-game win streak ended.

The Hornets failed to cover as 11.5-point home underdogs Friday in a 121-91 loss vs. the Chicago Bulls. Charlotte played without its 3 leading scorers and lost for just the 2nd time in its last 6 games.

The Raptors lead the season series 2-0 straight up and against the spread with the Over hitting in both meetings. Toronto covered as a 7.5-point home favorite 124-114 as the Over (229.5) cashed in the most recent meeting Jan. 12.

Raptors at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 125, Hornets 105

Moneyline

PASS.

Toronto (-1000) has won 4 of the last 5 meetings vs. Charlotte and should have no problem beating the shorthanded Hornets, but the spread and total are being offered at much lower prices.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -13.5 (-105).

Toronto is 9th in the Eastern Conference and has much more to play for right now. Not only are the Raptors sending out a more complete lineup, but they have also beaten the Hornets by double-digits in 4 of the last 5 meetings despite Charlotte being at full strength. Toronto is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games after failing to cover in its previous contest and will be motivated to bounce back after a tough loss at Philadelphia last time out.

Over/Under

BET OVER 223.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-1 in Toronto’s last 5 games and 11-4-1 in its last 16 vs. teams with a losing record.

The Over has gone 13-5-1 in the last 19 meetings between these teams and Charlotte’s backups should struggle to contain a motivated Raptors team coming off its 5th straight road loss.

Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (28-23) visit the Queen City Monday to play the Charlotte Hornets (28-26). The tip-off at Spectrum Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Raptors vs. Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Toronto has won six of seven including five straight games (6-1 against the spread (ATS)) with the most recent being a 125-114 victory over the Hawks as a 2-point home favorite.

The Raptors trampled the Hornets 125-113 in Toronto as 1-point home underdogs Jan. 25 without PG Fred VanVleet who was selected to his first All-Star team this past week.

Raptors at Hornets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 116, Hornets 106

Money line

BET the RAPTORS (-125) for 1 unit because they are trending in a much better direction than the Hornets and Toronto has a couple of edges it can exploit.

The Raptors have a plus-8.1 adjusted net rating (ranked sixth) and a plus-5.1 ATS margin (ranked sixth) over the last two weeks, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Whereas the Hornets have a minus-6.4 adjusted net rating (ranked 23rd) and minus-6.3 ATS margin (ranked 26th) in the last 14 days, per CTG.

Toronto also has two strength-on-weakness edges on the glass and in fastbreak efficiency. The Raptors are second in both offensive rebounding rate and second-chance points per game (PPG). While the Hornets are 23rd in defensive rebounding rate and allow the most second-chance PPG.

Charlotte is second in fastbreak PPG and Toronto is third. But, the Hornets allow the fourth-most fastbreak PPG and the Raptors give up the third-fewest.

BET the RAPTORS (-125) for 1 unit.

Against the spread

PASS.

I’m confident enough in the Raptors -1.5 (-112) that I’d prefer not to fuss with the points and just bet Toronto outright.

For what it’s worth, the Hornets are 9-3 ATS as home underdogs and the Raptors are 2-1 ATS as road favorites.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 224.5 (-112).

The Raptors are 0-3 O/U as road favorites with a minus-10.3 total margin and the Hornets have the worst offensive rating in the NBA during their current four-game losing skid.

However, Toronto’s offense has erupted in recent weeks as the Raptors are 6-2 O/U in their last eight games and the Over is 11-3-1 in the last 15 Raptors-Hornets meetings.

Raptors at Hornets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hornets 121, Raptors 116

Money line (ML)

The HORNETS (-140) are the play to the hand undermanned Raptors a fourth straight loss. The return of Toronto head coach Nick Nurse helped them keep it closer than expected against Atlanta Thursday, but Charlotte has better depth and top-end talent.

Toronto is missing 48 and 47 points from each of its first two wins over Charlotte this season. Hornets rookie PG LaMelo Ball also wasn’t yet in the starting lineup for those contests. He’s averaging 19.8 points per game with 6.8 assists and 6.1 rebounds while starting each of Charlotte’s last 16 games.

The Raptors won’t have an answer defensively with top defenders Anunoby and Siakam still out of the lineup.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Raptors shot .459 from 3-point range in Thursday’s game against the Hawks and were able to keep it close. The Hornets are second-to-last in both 3-point attempts allowed and opponent 3-pointers made per game while ranking 23rd in opponent 3-point percentage; however, they’re seventh in the Association with a .384 percentage from behind the arc as a team.

Back the HORNETS -2.5 (-110) to win by at least 3 points, as they’ll be able to outscore the shorthanded Raps in a chuck-off.

Over/Under (O/U)

Following suit of the above, back the OVER 233.5 (-115) with both teams being willing to rely on 3-point shooting Saturday.

The Raptors have played to the Over in five straight games, including with a shortened bench in each of their last three games. The Hornets hit the Over in six straight games prior to the All-Star break and playing to the Under with the Pistons.
