The Raptors covered the spread as 3-point home favorites in a 112-104 win vs. the Miami Heat Wednesday. F O.G. Anunoby scored a game-high 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field.

Toronto is 4-1 against the spread (ATS) vs. the Hawks in the last 5 head-to-head meetings.

Atlanta failed to cover as a 1-point home underdog in a 126-101 loss vs. the Boston Celtics Wednesday. G Trae Young finished with a game-high 27 points, but the Hawks only covered for 6% of the game.

Raptors at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 116, Raptors 114

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hawks (-220) should win, but they’re being overpriced on the ML. Look to the spread or the total for better opportunities.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS +5.5 (-110).

G Fred VanVleet, F Scottie Barnes and Anunoby should be able to carry the load offensively and keep this game close in the absence of Siakam and Trent. The market is overreacting to the injury report and Toronto should have no problem covering as a 5.5-point underdog. Take the points.

Over/Under

BET OVER 225.5 (-115).

Neither team has played well defensively as of late. The Over is 4-1 in Toronto’s last 5 games and 2-1 in Atlanta’s last 3 games. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 head-to-head meetings in Atlanta, and I expect this trend to continue Saturday since the Raptors are missing 2 of their best wing defenders in Siakam and Trent.

Raptors at Hawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 114, Hawks 109

Money line

BET RAPTORS (-125) for 1 unit.

Toronto has a significant edge in transition basketball and should have more possessions than Atlanta, which usually means more points.

The Raptors get out in transition at the fifth-highest rate and are third in fast-break points per game (PPG). Meanwhile, Atlanta has the worst transition defensive efficiency in the NBA.

Both teams have top-five offensive turnover rates, but the Raptors force the highest rate of turnovers in the NBA and the Hawks rank 28th in defensive-turnover rate.

Also, this is a much better spot for Toronto since Atlanta is 5-7 SU when playing with a rest disadvantage with a minus-2.7 margin of victory and 3-5 ATS on the second of a back-to-back with a minus-3.5 margin of victory.

The Hawks are second in adjusted-offensive rating and the Raptors perform well versus top-10 offenses.

Toronto is sixth in adjusted-net rating versus top-10 offenses with the fifth-best ATS margin at plus-2.9, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

BET RAPTORS (-125).

Against the spread

PASS since Toronto’s money line is only 13 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Raptors -1.5 (-112).

Don’t be cheap, just TAKE TORONTO (-125) to win outright.

Over/Under

BET OVER 215.5 (-112) for a quarter-unit.

The Over has cashed in five of the past six Raptors-Hawks meetings and Toronto is 10-2 O/U when playing on a rest advantage with a plus-12.8 total margin.

Also, the assigned officiating crew for this game has a combined 44-40 O/U record.

Raptors at Hawks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawks 112, Raptors 109

Money line (ML)

The HAWKS (+155) are worth a play as home dogs with this being a potential letdown spot for the Raptors. Toronto beat the Brooklyn Nets 123-117 Friday in a game they led most of the way for their third straight win. The Raps got 33 points from PF Pascal Siakam and 30 points from PG Kyle Lowry.

SG Fred VanVleet went just 1-for-9 from 3-point range and finished with 11 points in his follow-up to a franchise-record 54-point performance against the Orlando Magic in Toronto’s last game.

The Raptors rely far too heavily on 3-pointers and rank second in attempts and seventh in success rate for the season. The Hawks hold the opposition to just a 32.7% rate from 3-point range to rank second in the NBA defensively. They’re getting healthier and are in a good spot to snap a three-game losing skid.

Against the spread (ATS)

I like the money line play more for a greater payout, but the underdog HAWKS +4.5 (-110) should be taken with the insurance in a game that’ll come down to Toronto’s 3-point shooters against Atlanta’s 3-point defense.

The Hawks failed to cover in each of their three straight losses coming into the weekend, but they’re still 11-11 ATS for the season while the Raptors are just 9-13 even after three straight covers in double-digit victories.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the UNDER 222.5 (-105). The Raptors have hit four straight Overs, but their 3-point shooting is likely to struggle against the Hawks’ strong perimeter defense.

The Hawks also have a big edge in rebounding and will look to slow this down with their 20th-ranked pace of 99.0 possessions per game.
