BREAKING: Wisconsin flips Minnesota class of 2025 commit Torin Pettaway

Wisconsin football flipped Minnesota class of 2025 defensive line commit Torin Pettaway on Tuesday.

Pettaway had originally committed to the Badgers back in January before flipping to the Gophers in March. His rollercoaster recruitment has now led him back to the Badgers.

The in-state defensive lineman is 247Sports’ No. 631 player in the class of 2025, No. 64 defensive lineman and No. 5 recruit from the state of Wisconsin.

He becomes commitment No. 17 in Wisconsin’s class of 2025. The group currently ranks firmly within the nation’s top 15 entering the June 14 official visit weekend.

Pettaway’s decision to rejoin Wisconsin’s class carries significance into the program’s remaining official visit weekends. He is now (again) the first defensive line commit in the class. While the Badgers are set to welcome top DL target Wilnerson Telemaque to campus, their need at the position has diminished a bit.

His commitment also means Wisconsin has pledges from two of the top five in-state class of 2025 players. No. 1 four-star OT Owen Strebig and No. 2 four-star TE James Flanigan are both committed to Notre Dame, No. 3 OT Michael Roeske is committed to the Badgers, while No. 4 CB Tre Poteat is yet to commit.

Where Wisconsin’s class of 2025 ranks after losing Torin Pettaway to Minnesota

Wisconsin football’s class of 2025 dropped to eight commitments after three-star defensive lineman Torin Pettaway flipped to rival Minnesota on Thursday night.

The surprising move moved the group two spots to 11th in the nation. It remains third in the new Big Ten behind only Penn State (No. 4 overall) and Ohio State (No. 5).

Luke Fickell’s second full recruiting class still lacks the big-time commits the program landed throughout the 2024 cycle. His 2025 group is without a blue-chip recruit after the program finished 2024 with 11 such players. The 2025 cycle remains young, however and much of the movement is still to come in the summer months.

Wisconsin will look to replicate that class of 2024 that finished with a blue-chip ratio of 50%, a first in program history.

Wisconsin class of 2025 commit surprisingly flips to rival Minnesota

Wisconsin football recruit flips commitment to Big Ten rival

Wisconsin football class of 2025 commit Torin Pettaway decommitted from the Badgers and flipped to bitter rival Minnesota on Thursday night.

The in-state defensive lineman committed to join the Badgers on March 7. His change of heart and move to rival Minnesota seems to have taken many in the industry by surprise.

Pettaway is the No. 653 player in the class of 2025, the No. 63 defensive lineman and the No. 5 recruit from the state of Wisconsin.

His decommitment leaves Wisconsin’s class of 2025 with eight  commitments. The group also fell to No. 11 nationally with the news.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound athlete and junior at Middleton High School will be yet another in-state recruit to commit to play elsewhere — a troubling trend under both former coach Paul Chryst and current coach Luke Fickell.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 rises in national ranking after latest addition

Luke Fickell’s 2025 class continues to rise:

Wisconsin football received a commitment from class of 2025 defensive lineman Torin Pettaway Thursday afternoon.

The commitment is the program’s ninth in the class of 2025, a strong start to a cycle that is critical to the continued success of the Luke Fickell era.

The addition of Pettaway brings Wisconsin’s 2025 group up to No. 8 nationally on 247Sports, but still No. 3 in the new Big Ten. The Badgers are ranked behind only Notre Dame, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and Auburn.

It’s early in the process, and Wisconsin is currently without a blue-chip recruit in the class. But the foundation is being built early for a group that Badgers fans hope will best the program’s No. 25-ranked class of 2024.

Wisconsin offers hometown three-star defensive lineman

Wisconsin offers hometown three-star defensive lineman

The Badgers offered Torin Pettaway, a three-star class of 2025 defensive lineman from Middleton, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound athlete still has one more year at Middleton High School before he’d potentially look to play college football.

Pettaway has now received four Division 1 offers, all of which have come from teams within the Big Ten (Minnesota, Nebraska, USC and Wisconsin). Pettaway also has experience playing basketball as well, so he may possess a unique set of skills for a player at his position.

Considering his proximity to Madison, the Badgers can be considered a favorite to land the defensive lineman in 2025, though he’ll likely receive many more offers in the coming months.
