Gators make top 3 for this 5-star CB

The Gators are in the top three for five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks, but Florida will have to beat out two SEC elites to secure a commitment from the IMG Academy recruit.

The Florida Gators are pushing hard for five-star cornerback [autotag]Desmond Ricks[/autotag] to close out the 2023 recruiting cycle. On Thursday, the IMG Academy product named UF as one of his three finalists along with Alabama and LSU.

Ricks recently reclassified from the 2024 class, but his youth hasn’t limited him in the recruiting space. The best of the best are going after him, and now he’s narrowed things down to three SEC schools.

Both Florida and Alabama missed out on the top-ranked cornerback in the class, Cormani McClain, recently, so Ricks’ reclassification provides a second shot at securing an elite defensive back. LSU might have the upper hand, though.

Ricks is planning on visiting the Tigers this weekend for an unofficial visit, according to On3, and LSU will get the final shot at him on Dec. 16 for an official visit. The plan is for Ricks to decide on Dec. 23, which means he’ll be fresh off that trip when commitment day arrives.

Florida will get Ricks on an official visit Dec. 2, a week after he’s planning on stopping by Alabama.

He is the No. 2 cornerback in the class of 2023, according to both the On3 consensus and 247Sports composite. He’s also ranked in the top 25 nationally on both sites.

2022 four-star offensive tackle releases top schools

The Oklahoma Sooners joined two other teams in 2022 five-star offensive tackle Dayne Shor’s top school’s list.

One of the most important positions in all of college football is the offensive tackle. They are responsible for minimizing the impact of a defensive end, protect the quarterback, and pave the way in the run game. The emphasis in any recruiting class should be securing top talent upfront.

Oklahoma Sooners and Bill Bedenbaugh could be closing in on a top offensive tackle talent from the state of Georgia. Dayne Shor released his top schools with OU right in the thick of it. The other two should come as no surprise with the Crimson Tide and the Trojans joining the fray.

Shor would be the first offensive lineman to commit to the Sooner if it came soon. The four-star offensive tackle is ranked No. 23 overall at his position according to 247Sports composite rankings. Rivals has him rated at No. 16 at offensive tackle.

The Wisconsin football program received some good recruiting news yesterday when 2022 four-star OLB Josh Burnham included them in the list

The Wisconsin football program received some good recruiting news yesterday when 2022 four-star OLB Josh Burnham included them in the list of his top 3 schools.

As seen above, the other programs included are Notre Dame and Big Ten rival Michigan.

Burnham is the No. 83 player in the class of 2022, the No. 6 outside linebacker and the No. 2 player from the state of Michigan.

The Traverse City, Michigan native currently has six crystal ball projections all to in-state Michigan, including from Wisconsin recruiting insider Evan Flood.

Wisconsin is on a class of 2022 recruiting binge at the moment, sending out offers in the last few days to four-star DT Anthony Lucasfour-star WR Dane Keyfour-star CB Jaeden GouldATH Rodney HillCB Avyonne Jones, three-star CB Myles Pollard and three-star TE Jeremiah Franklin. Though they aren’t seen as the favorites for Burnham, a top 3 is good news for the Badgers’ chances of landing him.
