25 most important Saints of 2023: No. 3 Alvin Kamara

The top 25 most important Saints for 2023 series continues, this time with Alvin Kamara, who looks to return to his previous form | @ClutchWDN

The New Orleans Saints are almost through two weeks of training camp now, and with that, we have had the opportunity to see some new and some old faces. We have also been able to see the level of depth at the large majority of skill positions that had been accrued both this offseason and last. With wide receiver having more depth than ever, quarterback having three quality players, and tight end having a competition for roster spots, running back has somewhat gone under the radar to an extent. Bringing in two new rushers Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller has made things intriguing, but there is one name left out.

Alvin Kamara. Entering his seventh season in the NFL, he has been one of the better dual-threat backs we have seen in the game. With that, there have also been negatives, considering the more recent injury history and potential looming suspension. Regardless, his elite talent has placed him at #3 on our list of the top 25 Saints entering 2023. In this series, we take a look at the following topics for each of the members in the top 25:

  • Recap of their 2022 season
  • Projecting their 2023 success
  • What is the biggest question mark for them in 2023?

Firstly, let’s get a look at some background information for Alvin Kamara to get an idea of who he is on paper.

25 most important Saints of 2023: No. 4 Ryan Ramczyk

Ryan Ramczyk was more impressive in 2022 than some fans might think, and he’s one of the most important Saints on the team in 2023 | @ClutchWDN

Training camp is well underway for the New Orleans Saints, and with that, we have a chance to look at both new players and those who have been on the team for a long time. With this, all players get a chance to prepare for the NFL preseason and regular season, and those newer players get a chance to prove themselves worthy of a roster spot. However, those who have already solidified their spot use this time as a period to get back into the scheme of things.

One player who has now been delegated with veteran status is right tackle Ryan Ramczyk, who is now entering his seventh season with the Saints. The former protector of legendary quarterback Drew Brees now looks to continue his impressive streak of great seasons protecting Derek Carr. Ramczyk has been a staple of a New Orleans offensive line that has been between good and great for the large majority of his career, and that is in large part due to his success. This lands him at No. 4 on our list of the top 25 most important Saints entering 2023.  In this series we take a look at the following topics for each of the members in the top 25:

  • Recap of their 2022 season
  • Projecting their 2023 success
  • What is the biggest question mark for them in 2023?

Firstly, let’s get a look at some background information for Ryan Ramczyk to get an idea of who he is on paper.

Preseason top 25 players in the ACC

These 25 players will likely decide the outcome of who represents the ACC in the postseason.

We recently unveiled our All-ACC preseason selections and now it is time to look at the best players of the conference in our top 25 rankings.

Most of the selections are based on production from last season and some will have to factor in projections for the upcoming season. Players such as Cade Klubnik, who goes in 2023 as the starting quarterback with a whole new offensive scheme. Garrett Riley comes over from TCU to give this offense a shot in the arm after underperforming in 2022.

It won’t only be the offensive players that we feature as Jared Verse of Florida State and Jeremiah Trotter Jr of Clemson are expected to be major forces once again.

College Sports Wire breaks down the top 25 players, a list we will be sure to revisit following the season to see where we got it right and where we got it wrong.

25 most important Saints of 2023: No. 16 Rashid Shaheed

The top 25 most important Saints for 2023 series continues, this time with Rashid Shaheed, who looks to build off an explosive rookie season | @ClutchWDN

The New Orleans Saints are now right around two weeks away from training camps, which begin on July 28th. With this, NFL players get the chance to show their worth to their new teams, especially those who were drafted late or even went undrafted as a whole. The Saints are not an exception, as they have had some great undrafted players come in and make an impact.  Pierre Thomas, Sammy Knight, Chris Ivory, Deonte Harris, Garrett Hartley, etc.

One such player came in this past season and absolutely rocketed onto the scene for New Orleans, making explosive plays left right and center for most of the season. That player was Rashid Shaheed, a kick and punt returner out of Weber State. To start, that is what Shaheed truly was for the Saints, a special teams ace. However as the season went on, we saw his true utilization as a player, hence his placement at #16 on this list.

This series will take a look at the top 25 players for the 2023 season in New Orleans, and discuss the following topics:

  • Recap of their 2022 season
  • Projecting their 2023 success
  • What is the biggest question mark for them in 2023?

But first up, let’s take a look at Shaheed’s background to get a better idea of some baseline information.

25 most important Saints of 2023: No. 17 Michael Thomas

The top 25 most important Saints for 2023 series continues, this time with Michael Thomas, who is in a do-or-die situation with New Orleans | @ClutchWDN

The 2023 NFL offseason keeps churning; with that, we have some players with various question marks around them. While the New Orleans Saints are generally pretty cut and dry in who they have on the roster, this season has become an exception. There are questions galore between a new quarterback in Derek Carr, a potential resurgence for Alvin Kamara, and a complimentary back in Jamaal Williams, or even the rookie class with Bryan Bresee among others.

Another player who fits the bill? Michael Thomas. We all pretty much know the story by now, the 2019 Offensive Player of the Year who broke the all-time receptions in a season record and then has played a total of 10 games in the three seasons since.  With that said, Thomas ranks 17th on Saints Wire’s list of the 25 most important players for New Orleans in 2023.  This series takes a look at the following for these players:

  • Recap of their 2022 season
  • Projecting their 2023 success
  • What is the biggest question mark for them in 2023?

So, let’s first take a look at some background context before getting into those components:

  • What is the biggest question mark for them in 2023?

So, without further ado, let’s start off with some background of Marcus Maye’s career:
