LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie is on the scene for Saturday’s UFC 269 event.

UFC 269 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN/ESPN+ and early prelims on ESPN+.

In the main event, Charles Oliveira will look to record his first lightweight title defense against former interim champion Dustin Poirier. In the co-feature, two-division champion Amanda Nunes will put her women’s bantamweight title on the line against Julianna Pena. Also, former bantamweight champion Cody Garbradnt drops down to flyweight for the first time where he will meet Kai Kara-France. The eccentric Sean O’Malley takes on Raulian Paiva to kick things off the pay-per-view main card.

UFC on ESPN+ 37 medical suspensions: Cory Sandhagen’s win comes with a potential cost

Taking on fellow top bantamweight contender [autotag]Marlon Moraes[/autotag] on Saturday, Sandhagen (13-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) picked up a second-round TKO via a spinning wheel kick and punches. Against Moraes (23-7-1 MMA, 5-3 UFC), however, Sandhagen sustained an eye injury that could put him out of action for 180 days.

On Monday, MMA Junkie obtained the full list of suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com, the Association of Boxing Commissions’ official record keeper.

Also receiving potential six-month suspensions are [autotag]Tom Breese[/autotag], [autotag]Rodrigo Nascimento[/autotag], [autotag]Impa Kasanganay[/autotag], [autotag]Tony Kelley[/autotag], and [autotag]Omar Morales[/autotag] for injuries suffered in their fights Saturday.

UFC on ESPN+ 37 took place at Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The event streamed on ESPN+.

Ali Alqaisi vs. Tony Kelley added to UFC’s Oct. 10 fight card

A bantamweight matchup between Ali Alqaisi and Tony Kelley is the latest addition to the UFC’s Oct. 10 lineup.

The UFC has added [autotag]Ali Alqaisi[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Tony Kelley[/autotag] to the event, which is expected to take place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

MMA Junkie confirmed the booking with a person with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA DNA was first to report the news.

Alqaisi (8-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC), Jordan’s first UFC fighter, was narrowly edged out by Irwin Rivera in his promotional debut earlier this month. Prior to that, he was on a five-fight winning streak, with three of his wins coming by submission.

Kelley (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) lost a unanimous decision to fellow newcomer Kai Kamaka at UFC 252 in an action-packed contest where both men earned a “Fight of the Night” bonus. Kelley will be moving down to 135 pounds to take on Alqaisi.

MMA Junkie obtained the full list from the Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday. Fighters can return sooner than the duration of their suspension if cleared by a doctor.

Miocic (20-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) and Cormier (22-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) had a grueling five-round fight in the headliner of the event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, with Miocic keeping the belt. A second-round eye poke on Cormier apparently tore his cornea, and that’s one of the issues “DC” will need checked out post-fight. Miocic, meanwhile, needs hie eye examined, too.

Outside of the main event, bantamweight prospect [autotag]Sean O’Malley[/autotag] (12-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) faces the longest medical suspension. He hurt his leg in a first-round TKO loss in the co-main event, and will need his ankle cleared, otherwise he’s out until February 2021.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Reebok’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2011 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $3,500 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,000; 6-10 bouts get $5,000; 11-15 bouts earn $10,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $15,000; and 21 bouts and more get $20,000. Additionally, champions earn $40,000 while title challengers get $30,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

A fight between two UFC newcomers is being finalized for Saturday’s card.

Promotional newcomers [autotag]Kai Kamaka III[/autotag] and [autotag]Tony Kelley[/autotag] have agreed to fight Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Contracts are expected to distributed shortly.

Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the booking on Tuesday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Kamaka (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has competed for KOTC, Bellator and, most recently, LFA. At LFA 87 on July 31, Kamaka beat undefeated fighter Michael Stack by unanimous decision. Kamaka, 25, has won five straight fights entering UFC 252.

Kelley (5-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has competed only once since a 2016 split decision loss to now-UFC featherweight Kevin Aguilar at Legacy FC 57. In his lone fight since then, Kelley defeated Andy Brossett at Rite of Passage 7 in May 2019.
