Georgia vs. Florida: 5 reasons why UGA beats UF

Here’s why No. 1 Georgia moves to 8-0 this weekend…

It’s No. 1 Georgia (7-0) versus Florida (4-3) this Saturday in Jacksonville. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and the matchup will be televised on CBS.

Both teams are coming off of a bye week. UGA’s last contest was a 30-13 win over No. 11 Kentucky and Florida’s, a 49-42 loss to LSU.

This is the first time since 2017 that the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party isn’t a top-10 matchup.

Florida still has bragging rights after a 44-28 win in last year’s matchup, and the top-ranked Bulldogs look to grab the title back in 2021.

Ravens announce five inactive players for Week 1 matchup vs. Raiders

The Ravens announced their inactive list for their game against the Radiers

The Baltimore Ravens will be taking on the Las Vegas Radiers in Week 1 of the 2021 season. They had to wait until Monday Night Football to get their first action of the regular season, and they’ll be looking to begin their path to a Super Bowl Championship.

Before the game, Baltimore put out their inactives list which consisted of five total players. Three of the inactives were rookies in guard Ben Cleveland, outside linebacker Daelin Hayes and safety Ar’Darius Washington, and two are veterans who are either dealing with or recovering from injuries in defensive lineman Derek Wolfe and cornerback Jimmy Smith.

Cleveland and Washington are both healthy scratches, while Hayes was dealing with a knee injury leading up to the game. Although the rookie outside linebacker was a full participant in practice late in the week, the Ravens decided to go with Jaylon Ferguson as their fifth at the position instead.

Smith has been dealing with an ankle injury for over a month now and just recently returned to practice. Baltimore seemingly doesn’t want to risk re-injury with him, which is a smart decision. Wolfe has been dealing with a back injury for multiple weeks, and hadn’t practiced leading up to the game.

The Ravens only had to make five players inactive due to them entering the game with just 51 players, as opposed to a full 53-man roster.

Ben Roethlisberger connects with rookie TE Pat Freiermuth for 2 1st quarter TDs

The Ben Roethlisberger to Pat Freiermuth connection is strong.

It didn’t take long for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to get two touchdowns against the Detroit Lions in the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason game. And if you are a Steelers fan, you have to love that Roethlisberger is already showing a connection with rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth, who caught them both.

Freiermuth is a ridiculous athlete and he showed it on both scores. Pittsburgh needs a guy who can work the seams and overpower defenders in the red zone. This is exactly what he did twice on Saturday night against Lions defenders.

It’s just a preseason game but it’s hard not to get excited about the potential of this Roethlisberger/Freiermuth connection this season.

Does a freshman Notre Dame running back want to join the SEC?!?!

Is this an epic troll job?

There are tons of rumors surrounding the SEC and the fact that Oklahoma and Texas are making a move to potentially join the conference. Nothing yet has been confirmed, but the Sooners and Longhorns are playing coy with what they’re trying to do.

A report from Brett McMurphy today said that the move will happen, as early as next week. Conference realignment this summer has been absolutely wild, this obviously being the tip of the madness.

There was some fuel to the fire today, as Notre Dame incoming freshman Logan Diggs, who is a native of SEC country in Louisiana, tweeted out this.

It is just Diggs trolling his friends that stayed closer to home to play their collegiate football? Are there legs to this at all?

Who really knows at this point, but it would be an interesting scenario that most likely won’t come to play. The most logical choice for the Irish would be joining the ACC and that’s obviously not a forgone conclusion.  I personally think that Diggs is just having fun, but who really knows at this point in this wild offseason full of changes.
