The Detroit Tigers (64-66) and Chicago White Sox (31-99) play the finale of their 4-game series Sunday. First pitch from Guaranteed Rate Field is set for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Tigers vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tigers lead 7-1

The Tigers continued their dominance of the White Sox this season with a 13-4 victory Saturday behind LHP Tarik Skubal‘s 8-K performance. Detroit had 14 hits, 3 of which were HRs from RF Matt Vierling, 2B Zach McKinstry, and DH Colt Keith. The Tigers have outscored Chicago 43-18 in their 8 meetings.

Despite accumulating 12 hits on Saturday, the White Sox could only muster 4 runs. The combination of LHP Ky Bush and RHP Touki Toussaint allowed 9 ER over 3 2/3 IP. DH Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. The White Sox are 18-46 at home and 54-75 against the spread (ATS).

  • Last start: No-decision, 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K in 8-2 win at the White Sox Wednesday
  • Starter stats: 0-2, 6.00 ERA, 9 IP, 13 H, 7 R (6 ER), 4 BB, 12 K

Tigers at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Tigers 6, White Sox 2

Moneyline

BET TIGERS (-136).

Detroit has completely dictated the series with the White Sox this season. There’s also no reason to fear Chicago’s Gannon as he’s 1-4 over his last 6 starts.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I’ll take the safer bet with the moneyline.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9 (-110).

The trends are telling me to take the Under in this one. In their last 10  meetings, they are 7-3 against the Under. The Tigers are Under in 7 of their last 10, the White Sox are 1-4-1 against the Over in their last 6. The Under is also 4-0-1 in Gannon’s last 5 starts.

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox meet Thursday in the regular-season opener at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tigers vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tigers won 8-5 in 2023, while splitting 3-3 in 6 games in Chicago. The Under is 8-1 in the past 9 meetings, including 5-1 in the 6 meetings at Guaranteed Rate Field

The Tigers finished 78-84 last season, which was good for 2nd place in the American League Central Division, 9 games back of the 1st-place Minnesota Twins. The Tigers went 41-40 on the road, while piling up a 35-17 record inside the AL Central.

The White Sox ended up 61-101 in 2023, 26 games behind the Twins. Chicago ended up in 4th place, 5 games clear of the last-place Kansas City Royals. Chicago ended up 31-50 at home, while going 23-29 inside the AL Central.

Tigers at White Sox projected starters

LHP Tarik Skubal vs. LHP Garrett Crochet

Skubal (7-3, 2.80 ERA) made 15 starts in 2023. He posted a 0.90 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 11.4 K/9 in 80 1/3 innings.

  • 2023 road splits: 4-2, 4.17 ERA (41 IP, 19 ER – 2 HR), 7 BB, 43 K
  • 2023 vs. Sox: 2-0, 1.50 ERA, 12 IP, 2 ER, 3 BB, 16 K in 2 starts

  • 2023 home splits: 0-0, 3.60 ERA (5 IP, 2 ER – 1 HR), 2 BB, 5 K
  • 2023 vs. Tigers: 0-0, 2.70 ERA, 3 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 BB, 3 K in 2 relief appearances

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Tigers -1.5 (-110) | White Sox +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Tigers at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Tigers 5, White Sox 2

Moneyline

The TIGERS (-175) are rather heavy favorites, costing nearly 2 times your potential return. Still, behind Skubal, the Tigers are a strong play on the road. The southpaw won each of his 2 starts against the White Sox (+145) last season, and he and the visitors are a good bet on the road in the opener against a Chicago team expected to be one of the worst in the majors in 2024. The Tigers won the final 5 starts by Skubal in 2023, too.

Run line/Against the spread

The TIGERS -1.5 (-110) are worth a look on the run line. Detroit was 2-3 as a favorite on the run line against the White Sox +1.5 (-110) in 2023, but one of the covers was a start by Skubal on Sept. 9 at Comerica Park. In addition, the Tigers were 4-0 on the run line as a favorite to close out the 2023 campaign.

Over/Under

UNDER 7.5 (-105) is the lean in Thursday’s opener on Chicago’s Southside.

The Under cashed in 8 of the final 9 meetings between these AL Central rivals, while the total went low at a 6-3-1 clip in Skubal’s final 10 starts, including both of his starts against the Pale Hose in 2023.

For the White Sox, the Under cashed in the final 5 home games in 2023, while going 11-2 in the final 13 games of the regular season.

Tigers at White Sox projected starters

LHP Daniel Norris vs. RHP Michael Kopech

Norris (0-4, 6.90 ERA) is tabbed for his 2nd start and 28th appearance. He has a 1.47 WHIP, 6.3 BB/9 and 12.9 K/9 through 30 IP.

  • Current Chicago bats own an aggregate .829 OPS against him.
  • Released by the Chicago Cubs in July and has been pitching at AAA-Toledo since being signed by Detroit.

Kopech (4-8, 3.38 ERA) owns a 1.23 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 through 98 2/3 IP across 20 starts.

  • Owns a 4.75 ERA over his last 7 starts.
  • Owns a 4.5 BB/9 over his last 5 starts.

Run line/Against the spread

The lefty-righty mound matchup is a big advantage for the Pale Hose who own a .754 OPS against southpaws. The Bengals have flailed their way to an MLB-worst .584 OPS against righties.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -1.5 (-103).

Over/Under

Not much of a lean here, but the price on the OVER 8.5 (+100) is attractive.

Peg the Detroit bullpen as being overrated by its surface numbers (3.24 ERA but with a very low 5.9% home run/fly ball rate).

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox Game 1 odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Detroit Tigers (8-16) and Chicago White Sox (12-10) continue their AL Central series with a Thursday doubleheader at Guaranteed Rate Field. The first pitch of Game 1 is slated for 5:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tigers vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Casey Mize is the projected starting pitcher for the Tigers. He is 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 6.1 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 through 20 2/3 IP over 4 starts. Mize has allowed 17 base runners, 5 home runs and 11 earned runs over his last two starts totaling 9 2/3 IP.

LHP Carlos Rodon is the projected starter for the White Sox. He is 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 in 19 IP spanning 3 starts. Rodon struggled with control (5 walks) in his follow-up to his April 14 no-hitter, both against the Cleveland Indians.

Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 2:15 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tigers +165 (bet $100 to win $165) | White Sox -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tigers +1.5 (-140) | White Sox -1.5 (+115)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 4, Tigers 2

Money line (ML)

The Tigers took Tuesday’s series opener 5-2 to notch just their second win since April 14. The Detroit offense owns an anemic .551 OPS over the 12-game span. Wednesday’s contest was rained out.

Look for good things from Rodon in this spot. Velocity is up significantly, and his three-start swinging-strike rate is a tidy 16.0%. The Tigers have flailed their way to a .498 OPS against lefty pitching.

The WHITE SOX (-200) are a decent play.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The ChiSox bullpen figures to be much better than its 4.62 surface ERA would indicate. Peg the ATS play with more value than the money line.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -1.5 (+115).

Over/Under (O/U)

As a part of a twin bill, keep in mind the total here is for a 7-inning game. Thursday’s forecast calls for temps in the mid-50s and a breeze out to right-center. There’s a bit of an Under lean with a feeling the Chicago bullpen is underrated. The Tigers offense is legitimately awful and the Under is 16-7-1 in their games.

On the number and the price, the Under 6 (-110) lean is razor-thin, actionable perhaps only as a partial unit play.

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Detroit Tigers (7-16) and Chicago White Sox (12-9) tangle in the first game of an AL Central series Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch will be thrown at 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tigers vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Jose Urena is the projected starting pitcher for the Tigers. He is 0-3 with a 4.57 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 and 5.0 BB/9 through 21 2/3 IP over 4 starts this season. Urena exhibited spotty control over his first two starts, but he has since rebounded to allow just 4 ER over 14 IP in his last two outings.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starter for the White Sox. He is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 12.5 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9 through 18 2/3 IP spanning 4 starts. Gioloto was rocked in his last start for 7 ER in just 1 IP at the Boston Red Sox. That start was April 19; the Chicago righty has been dealing with a cut on the middle finger of his pitching hand.

Tigers at Chicago White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tigers +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | White Sox -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tigers +1.5 (+105) | White Sox -1.5 (-125)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 5, Tigers 2

Money line (ML)

Chicago heads into this series on a four-game winning streak. The Pale Hose have won six of their last seven, while scoring 5.6 runs per game along the way on the strength of a .859 team OPS.

Detroit has lost five games in a row and 10 of its last 11 contests. Over those 11 games, the Tigers have averaged 1.8 RPG on a .534 OPS.

The ChiSox have much the better starter, bullpen, and offense in this one. The momentum is a one-way swing as well. The tag, though, feels like paying full freight for a healthy Giolito.

PASS … but Chicago (-250) is the closest lean of the two.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Tigers own a toothless .709 OPS against Giolito, and the White Sox hurler is backed by a top-5 bullpen that figures to be much better than its 4.64 surface ERA. It’s also rested after Monday’s off day.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -1.5 (-120).

Over/Under (O/U)

Tuesday’s forecast calls for a warmed-up Chicago and a double-digit breeze out to left field but consider a bet on the UNDER 8 (-110), especially if the price slides toward Over betting as it has in parts of the morning market.

The Tigers lineup against righties typically skews left and won’t figure to leverage the right-pull wind. Urena (and to a moderate degree the Detroit bullpen) does well to keep the ball out of the air. Add in a play on Giolito and the Sox relievers being undersold by their surface numbers.
