Season series: First meeting. Thunder won 2-0 last year.

The Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets 102-87 Thursday in their first action of the season, closing as a 2-point road underdog. MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 28 points and 8 assists. Oklahoma City, a team with championship aspirations, won 3 of 4 preseason games and was 2-2 against the spread (ATS) in those.

The Bulls opened the season up with a 123-111 road loss to the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday, closing as a 5-point road underdog. They then took on the Milwaukee Bucks and won 133-122, closing as a 9.5-point road underdog. Thunder at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 124, Bulls 116

Moneyline

PASS.

The Thunder are among the best teams in the NBA and beat the Nuggets despite shooting 22% from deep and taking just 12 free throw attempts. Expect them to improve upon those numbers and come out on top in their 2nd game of the season, but at this expensive price, avoid playing them to win outright.

Against the spread

BET BULLS +9.5 (-105).

The Bulls have a lineup that should produce at a more efficient rate than many expect. They have players that can distribute, score and rebound, and that should help them keep pace with the Thunder. This will also be Chicago’s first home game after beating one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, so it should be electric at the United Center.

The Bulls scored 132 points per game in their final 2 preseason games, both at home, and dropped 133 points Friday, so they are coming off a strong performance as well. Expect them to keep playing at a high level and back BULLS +9.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 231.5 (-110).

The Bulls have gone Over in both games this season, topping 110 points in each. In both games, both teams have scored 110 or more, so they can score well and also have a lousy defense, allowing 122.5 points per game.

The Thunder went Under against the Nuggets, but Denver was a team that played at the 5th-slowest pace in the NBA. The new additions, like G Josh Giddey, for Chicago should push the pace, and the young OKC side should match that speed.

Expect a high-scoring battle and take OVER 231.5 (-110).

Oklahoma City Thunder at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Oklahoma City Thunder at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Bulls welcome the Oklahoma City Thunder to the United Center Wednesday. Tip in the season opener for both teams is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Thunder vs. Bulls odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Thunder won both meetings last season

The Bulls didn’t make any premier offseason additions from a team that went 40-42 and a play-in tournament berth, failing to make the playoffs. Chicago was led by G Zach LaVine (24.8 points per game) and F DeMar DeRozan (24.5 PPG) and they will again be the faces of this Bulls team. Chicago ended last season 41-40-3 against the spread (ATS).

The Thunder finished 10th in the Western Conference last season with a 40-42 record, also failing to win 2 play-in games to make the playoffs. They were 16-25 on the road. Oklahoma City had the league’s 3rd-best ATS record at 46-35-3. The Thunder will be led by rising star G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averaged 31.4 PPG last season.

Thunder at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 117, Thunder 113

Moneyline

BET BULLS (-110).

The Thunder were good ATS last season, but they were just 17-26 on the road straight up. Chicago was solid at home, posting a 22-19 straight-up record. Neither team got much better this offseason other than the Thunder’s organic improvements.

The Bulls had a better net rating than the Thunder last season and have a solid roster with several players capable of taking a game over. Expect Chicago to come out hot at home and take BULLS (-110).

Against the spread

PASS.

The spread and moneyline are so close here that it makes more sense to take the stress out of a 1.5-point spread and just take the home team to win outright.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 228.5 (-115).

The Thunder ranked 3rd in pace last season with the Bulls 18th. Oklahoma City has a young roster that should want to push the pace often. It was 47-37 O/U last season, the 5th-best Over-covering rate in the NBA.

Couple the Thunder’s desired pace with the Bulls shotmakers like LaVine and DeRozan, and there should be ample scoring. Back OVER 228.5 (-115).

Thunder at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 120, Bulls 117

Moneyline

The Thunder beat the Bulls in their 1st meeting of the season in November, edging them out in overtime, 123-119. Now, they face a Bulls team that likely won’t have DeRozan, which gives them a slight edge as the underdogs.

BET THUNDER (+155) to win outright on the road, despite them playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back.

Against the spread

The spread offers a good value for the Thunder, getting 4.5 points from the Bulls in this matchup. According to Covers, the Thunder are 3-1 ATS when underdogs of 3-4.5 points. The Bulls, on the other hand, are 0-4 ATS when they’re favored by 3-4.5 points.

This is a good spot to BET THUNDER +4.5 (-110) with the Bulls dropping their last 2 games.

Over/Under

In each of the Thunder’s last 6 games, the total has gone Over. In the Bulls’ last 6, there’s an even split of 3-3 between the Over and Under.

Overall, the Over is 26-16 in Thunder games this season, including an 11-9 mark when OKC is on the road. BET OVER 234.5 (-110) tonight, though you could wait to find out DeRozan’s status and get it at a better number.
