Will Zalatoris’ ball came to rest on top of Matt Fitzpatrick’s poker chip ball mark. Wait, what?

What are the odds of this happening?

Not sure if we’ve ever seen anything like this happen in a PGA Tour event before.

On the par-5 6th hole at The Renaissance Club during the first round of the Genesis Scottish Open, Will Zalatoris had a long birdie bid.

He struck the putt with a little too much speed, and his ball rushed past the hole — then something weird happened.

His ball came to rest directly on top of Matt Fitzpatrick’s poker chip ball mark.

It was so odd, Collin Morikawa’s caddie got on his hands and knees to take a photo.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Viktor Hovland’s clubs were lost and he may not have them for start of Genesis Scottish Open

Hovland’s luggage was lost after a connecting flight and he doesn’t have his clubs or clothes.

On December 29 of last year, Viktor Hovland arrived in Hawaii prior to the start of the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

His clubs didn’t make the trip.

They eventually made it to the Plantation Course, six days later, but there was a casualty. His driver shaft was busted.

A few months prior to his trip to the TOC, Hovland’s driver was snapped by Danny Lee on the range at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. He was lucky enough to use one of James Hahn’s backups that week — and he went on to win.

So, attention bettors, you might want to put some units on Hovland this week as yet again he’s without his clubs at a PGA Tour event.

Ping is reportedly building him a backup set on property.

The Norwegian hasn’t finished inside the top 20 on PGA Tour since the Players Championship (T-9). In two appearances on the DP World Tour earlier this year, Hovland finished tied for fourth at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and won the Dubai Desert Classic.

This will be his first appearance in the Scottish Open. Hovland tees off with Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm at 3:05 a.m. ET for the first round Thursday.

Here are some of the best photos from the week at The Renaissance Club, home of the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open.

It’s nearly time for the 150th Open Championship at the home of golf, the Old Course at St Andrews, but before that event gets underway, the best players in the world are at The Renaissance Club for the Genesis Scottish Open.

Fourteen of the world’s top 15 players are expected to tee it up come Thursday morning. Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm are the betting favorites at +1200 followed closely by Justin Thomas at +1300.

Thomas has finished inside the top 10 in his last two appearances at The Renaissance Club.

Ths golf course is a par-70 track measuring 7,237 yards.

Five things to know about the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open

To paraphrase Ron Burgundy, the Scottish Open is kind of a big deal.

To paraphrase Ron Burgundy, the Scottish Open is kind of a big deal.

In 2022, the tournament has a new sponsor, a new, elevated status, a monster field and a $1,440,000 first-place prize.

Formerly the abrdn Scottish Open, Genesis has taken over as title sponsor. The event, at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, is back as host site. For the first time, it’s co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.

The field will be a split between members of both tours and competitors will earn FedEx Cup points — 500 to the winner — a first for a DP World Tour event.
