Tom Brady made fun of his own split pants moment at ‘The Match’

Ha!

Tom Brady’s imperfection during The Match on Sunday was just one of the things that made the event with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Peyton Manning must-watch.

That, of course, included watching a sequence that nearly broke Twitter: the struggling Brady holed out from 150 yards on No. 7 at Medalist … and then split his pants picking up the ball.

As we know, Brady is really good at social media, and it seems like he has a good sense of humor about this whole thing, which he should given that he’s still playing football and not concentrating as much on his golf game. Here’s what he said about his ripped pants:

HA! Timely joke right there.

He also had a classy tweet of congrats he delivered to Woods and Manning:

Tiger Woods’ tweet after The Match was either nice, or a vicious troll of Tom Brady

Tiger Woods’ tweet after The Match can be read in two ways. One is nice. One is not so nice at all.

Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning defeated Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in The Match: Champions for Charity event on Sunday afternoon. Woods and Manning got off to a hot start, aided greatly by Tom Brady, who had a bit of a meltdown on the opening seven holes.

Mickelson and Brady then charged back, but couldn’t catch up and ended up losing the match on the 18th.

After the match, Tiger Woods took to Twitter, and depending on who you ask, either had a nice note that showed how classy a winner he was, or viciously trolled Tom Brady. It’s definitely one of the two.

Here’s the tweet:

So, there are very clearly two ways to read this.

One: Woods was being nice, and saying that while Brady started slowly, he eventually “showed up too” and started playing really well down the stretch.

Two: Woods was not being nice, and suggesting that Tom Brady merely showed up for the event, and did nothing of note after arriving.

I am going to choose to read it the second way, because it is much, much funnier to do it that way. Like, hey Peyton was incredible, Phil put up a hell of a fight, and Tom Brady was also in attendance!

That is funny, to me. I will choose to view it this way.

Forget the celebrities — Justin Thomas was the breakout star of ‘The Match’

Justin Thomas served as the on-course correspondent, and ended up being one of the best parts of the entire event.

The Match: Champions for Charity was a revelation on Sunday, as Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady battled it out in a golf match that started silly and charming and, by the end, was actually riveting television.

Woods and Manning ended up holding off a fantastic comeback charge from Mickelson and Brady to win the event on the 18th hole, but that was irrelevant. We were all winners for an event that could have been canned and dumb and ended up being fantastic.

With names like Woods, Brady, Manning and Mickelson, the event had an impressive marquee. Throw in Charles Barkley on the call, add in call-ins from JJ Watt, Russell Wilson, Alex Rodriguez, and Brooks Koepka, and it was clear this event was not lacking in star power.

Yet it was Justin Thomas who stole the show.

JT, as he was affectionately called throughout the program, is certainly a famous golfer, but not at the level of the names previously listed. And his role could have been minor — he donned a backpack and served as an on-course correspondent during the match.

Yet Thomas consistently made the event more fun, more personable. When the trash talk was lacking with the four competitors on the course, Thomas would interject something, almost becoming a fifth member of the party.

And delightfully, Thomas found real chemistry with Barkley, who he razzed throughout the match. Their beef gave us one of the best moments of the entire broadcast, when JT told Barkley “Chuck, I’d love to see your fat ass try to dunk a basketball right now.”

Chuck paused, and you weren’t sure if he was offended … then said: “Hey JT. You can’t call me fat on TV, that’s bullying,” as the rest of the broadcast booth broke into laughter.

Thomas also successfully got Tiger involved, referring to him as “T Dub” and working to get him to open up as the famously focused Woods would sometimes drift out of the broadcast to, you know, focus on golf.

In essence: Thomas was perfect for the event, and I can imagine every golf TV executive in the world right now is counting down the days until he retires and they can get him in the broadcast booth. He was that good, that natural, that charming. He’s got a lot of golf ahead of him, but I can’t wait for Thomas to be behind a microphone full time, or at least more of the time.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will donate 300,000 meals for COVID-19 relief as a charity bet made during “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, had a little fun Sunday afternoon in the name of charity.

Sports fans around the country finally had something to watch Memorial Day Weekend when Capital One’s “The Match: Champions for Charity,” kicked off to raise funds in support of COVID-19 relief.

The contest, which was held at The Medalist Golf Club, pitted Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. Wilson tweeted his trash talk video aimed at Brady – all in good fun, of course – before the four hit the course.

Wilson later upped his ante when he promised 100,000 meals per shot inside 12 feet on the No. 16 hole. After three – Manning, Mickelson and Brady – hit the mark, Wilson and Ciara will now be donating 300,000 meals to the COVID-19 relief cause.

The PGA was live blogging the event and you can check out a recap of the action here.

Tom Brady proves he’s clutch even on the golf course

Bucs QB Tom Brady showed off his golf skills during “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

The Match: Champions for Charity has been a much-needed source of sports entertainment for fans during this time of social distancing.

Bucs QB Tom Brady, along with Phil Mickelson, are teaming up to take on Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods in a charity event to help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

The match has been fun to watch, but it’s also provided further proof of how clutch Brady is, even off the field.

Take a look at this shot from the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Money.

Russell Wilson may want to rethink this tweet now.

Tiger Woods poked fun at Phil Mickelson constantly bragging about his calves

Never fails.

Sunday’s broadcast of The Match — a charity golf event with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning — showcased the game’s personalities in ways we don’t typically see in a golf broadcast.

Every competitor was mic’d up, and the conversations extended to those in the booth (like Charles Barkley). It allowed golf fans to feel like they’re a part of the banter, which made the Phil-Tiger component especially entertaining.

We now know exactly how Tiger feels about Phil’s ridiculously sculpted calves.

Early in The Match, Tiger and Phil were set for a $1.5 million long-drive challenge. And just before he teed off, Phil made a remark about “activating” his calves. You could see Tiger’s eyeroll through the screen.

Tiger said after the comment:

“Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is what I have to listen to every time we play.”

Can we have more of this in regular tournaments please? Mic everything up. I digress.

But really, Tiger, have you seen Phil’s calves?!

I’d remind my golf buddies about my calves too if I were Phil.

But hey, the calves weren’t enough to top Tiger in the challenge. Woods was the one to earn $1.5 million for charity.

Watch: Peyton Manning jabs Tom Brady by mentioning Nick Foles during ‘The Match’

Peyton Manning trolls Tom Brady by bringing up Super Bowl 52 loss during The Match

Nick Foles is now a member of the Chicago Bears but he’ll always be remembered for leading the Eagles to a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52.

On Sunday Tom Brady and his fiercest rival Peyton Manning was in action again, this time on the golf course as partners with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Hoping to get a reaction out of Brady, Manning reference Foles and the Eagles win over New England a few years back.

During their back and forth Brady seemed to poke fun at the Falcons while admitting that the Eagles loss still makes him cringe.

Foles chimed in on the fun and even gave Manning a few extra tips to help throw Brady off.

Tom Brady split his pants right after sinking the golf shot of his life

That’s golf summed up perfectly.

If there’s one certainty about golf, it’s that the game always finds a way to humble a player.

During Sunday’s The Match with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, Brady spent the first six holes looking like a completely overwhelmed amateur. Every shot Brady attempted through the first six was awful, and he was visibly frustrated.

Brooks Koepka offered $100,000 just if Brady could make par, but less than an hour later, Brady did Koepka one better: He made a birdie from 150 yards out.

Brady’s time at the top of the golf world, though, was short-lived as he split his pants retrieving the ball from the hole. Golf has never been summed up better than these two videos.

Before:

After:

The wardrobe malfunction had Brady rocking the Michael Jordan fit for the rest of The Match.

Brady won’t be forgetting this round of golf anytime soon. That’s for sure.
