Legendary voice actor sings ‘Be Prepared’ in Notre Dame shirt

This is cool, especially if you grew up with 90s Disney.

If you’ve seen any movie made in the past 30 years, chances are you’ve seen “The Lion King”. Among the many memorable songs from that flick is “Be Prepared”, sung by Scar, one of the most famous Disney villains of all-time. Jeremy Irons voiced the character, but he actually didn’t sing the entirety of his character’s song.

There’s one part of “Be Prepared” in which Scar shouts intensely, and this exhausted Irons’ voice enough that he couldn’t sing the rest of the song. Enter Jim Cummings, who already was voicing Ed, one of the hyenas alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin. Cummings filled in for Irons for the last part of the song and did it so well that one couldn’t tell the difference.

Cummings’ filmography is too lengthy to list here, but you definitely have heard his voice if you’ve watched a lot of animation made over the past 40 years. He chose to sample one of those when he posted a video of him singing “Be Prepared” on social media. Oh, and he was wearing an interesting shirt:

While we can’t confirm at this time whether Cummings in fact is a Notre Dame fan, it’s cool to see this nonetheless. Maybe in light of this, the Irish should add “Be Prepared” to their pregame playlist? Just a thought.

College fans loved Ohio State’s petty Lion King meme after beating Penn State

It’s the circle of life, and it trolls us all.

After Ohio State stayed undefeated on the season with a 20-12 win over previously undefeated Penn State on Saturday afternoon, the Buckeyes social media team decided to get some light trolling in to celebrate the victory.

After the Nittany Lions offense sputtered with a dismal performance, Ohio State shared a Lion King-inspired graphic of Brutus Buckeye holding up a lion cub on top of Pride Rock Rafiki-style with the caption “rawr.”

Ohio State and Penn State clearly have at least somewhat of a rivalry going on, and this was a pretty clever way for the Buckeyes to claim bragging rights over their Big Ten foes.

You win some, and you lose some. This week, Penn State will have to put up with the trolling, and Ohio State will do the trolling. Next time, we might see Penn State troll Ohio State, or more likely, Michigan troll Ohio State.

It’s the circle of life, after all, and it trolls us all.

Disney live-action remakes ranked, from The Lion King to Beauty and the Beast

Let’s take a look at some of the recent Disney live-action remakes and how they stack up.

As Disney brings back The Little Mermaid for a new audience via a live-action remake, it’s worth going back and looking at the films that came before it.

In 2010, Disney kicked off a new era of regular live-action adaptations, films that either reimagine or completely trace over the timeless animated classics from where they come from.

While we only deal with films that have come out post-Alice in Wonderland (all apologies to the 1990s 101 Dalmatians) and don’t include sequels or spinoffs (2021’s Cruella won’t count), we do have 13 films to take a look at that hem pretty close to the films that they’re adapted from.

Let’s take a look at these live-action remakes. Some of them are quite good (Pete’s Dragon), while others are quite bad (The Lion King).
