The 6th-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-1, 2-1 SEC) and 25th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (5-2, 2-1) meet Saturday at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Texas vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Texas is looking to bounce back after a 30-15 loss at DKR against Georgia, its 1st setback of the season. After opening the season 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in the 1st 4 games, the Longhorns are 1-2 ATS in the past 3 outings. The Under has cashed in each of the past 3 games, too.

Vanderbilt stunned the world with a 40-35 victory against Alabama Oct. 5 as a 23-point underdog, and it followed that with a 20-13 victory at Kentucky as a 13-point ‘dog Oct. 12.

Last week, it’s possible Vandy was caught looking ahead, stumbling to a 24-14 win over Ball State as a 27.5-point favorite. The Under has cashed in each of the past 2 games after the Over was 5-0 in the 1st 5 outings.

Texas at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 37, Vanderbilt 17

Moneyline

Texas (-800) will cost you 8 times your potential return, which is way too much risk and not nearly enough reward. Even as part of a multi-leg parlay, including the Longhorns isn’t a recommended betting strategy.

Vanderbilt (+550) cannot be trusted, though. While QB Diego Pavia is a very strong signal caller, and he was huge against the Crimson Tide. But, he and the Commodores will be facing a difficult matchup against a very angry Longhorns team.

AVOID.

Against the spread

It’s worth playing TEXAS -17.5 (-105) lightly on the road. It’s easy to consider Vanderbilt +17.5 (-115) after upset wins over Alabama and Kentucky, but it really showed some weaknesses against Ball State last weekend.

While the Commodores won, it still has work to do before it takes that next step. The win over Bama was amazing, but it won’t happen against another national title contender.

Over/Under

OVER 51.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

There is some risk here, as the Under has cashed in 3 in a row for the Longhorns. The Over is 1-0 in the only true road game for Texas so far, however.

For Vandy, the Over is 5-2 in 7 games, although there is risk since the total has gone low in each of the previous 2 contests.
