Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (81-64) and the Toronto Blue Jays (80-66) wrap up a 4-game series Thursday night at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 5-1

The Rangers blasted the Blue Jays 10-0 on Wednesday night, and Texas is now 3-for-3 in the current series, while winning 4 in a row this season from Toronto. The Rangers have pushed the Blue Jays 1 game out of the final Wild Card spot in the AL, while moving a half-game ahead of the Seattle Mariners for the 2nd Wild Card position.

The Blue Jays have been outscored 26-7 in the 1st 3 games of this series, erasing all of the good work Toronto did in an 8-2 run from Aug. 30-Sept. 10. The Over has cashed in the 1st 3 games of this series, while going 11-4-2 across the past 17 games overall.

Rangers at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Nathan Eovaldi vs. RHP Kevin Gausman

Eovaldi (11-4, 2.90 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.07 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 in 127 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 2 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 3-2 home win vs. the Oakland Athletics
  • 2023 road splits: 6-1, 2.76 ERA (71 2/3 IP, 22 ER), 3 HR, .221 opponent batting average (OBA) in 11 starts with 1 CG

Gausman (11-8, 3.28 ERA) makes his 29th start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 11.7 K/9 in 167 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 8 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 10 K in 5-1 home win vs. the Kansas City Royals Saturday
  • 2023 home splits: 5-3, 3.07 ERA (88 IP, 30 ER), 8 HR, .230 OBA in 14 starts
  • 2023 vs. Texas: Win, 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 2-1 road win June 16

Rangers at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Blue Jays 3

Moneyline

The RANGERS (+140) are a solid value as they look to cap off the 4-game sweep in the Great White North.

The Blue Jays (-165) are reeling, getting outscored 26-7 so far in this series. Gausman has tremendous all-around numbers this season, and he owns the only win for Toronto against Texas this season.

However, Eovaldi has been pretty solid, too, winning 11 of his 15 decisions, while posting a sparkling 2.76 ERA on the road this season.

Run line/Against the spread

The RANGERS +1.5 (-155) aren’t priced out of line if you just don’t think they’ll cap off the 4-game sweep, but you feel Texas will at least keep it close. Texas is the better value straight up, but this isn’t a terrible bet, either, if you want a little insurance.

Over/Under

The UNDER 8 (-105) is the lean, but go lightly, as the Over has cashed in the 1st 3 games, including Wednesday’s 10-0 shutout win by Texas.

The Rangers have cashed the Over in 4 straight outings, but the last time the Under cashed was Eovaldi’s most recent start Saturday against the A’s.

The Under has cashed in 5 of Gausman’s past 8 starts overall. We’re going to get the best pitched game of this series on the final day.

Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (80-64) and the Toronto Blue Jays (80-65) play the 3rd contest of a 4-game series Wednesday night at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 4-1

The Rangers have had the number of the Blue Jays this season, winning for the 2nd time in as many games in this series on Tuesday, and for the 4th time in 5 meetings overall. Texas doubled up Toronto 6-3 despite losing RHP Max Scherzer to back spasms. That’s now 4 in a row for the Rangers, while cashing the Over in 3 straight, and 9 of the past 10 games overall.

The Blue Jays pitching staff has been battered for 16 runs in the 1st 2 games of the series, cashing the Over twice after 3-0-2 Under run in the previous 5 outings. In fact, the Over has hit in 3 straight meetings with the Rangers dating back to June 18.

Rangers at Blue Jays projected starters

LHP Jordan Montgomery vs. LHP Yusei Kikuchi

Montgomery (8-11, 3.62 ERA) makes his 29th start. He has a 1.24 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 in 161 2/3 innings with the Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 8 H (2 HR), 1 BB, 6 K in 6-3 home loss vs. the Oakland Athletics Friday
  • 2023 road splits: 2-6, 3.08 ERA (76 IP, 26 ER), 7 HR, .232 opponent batting average (OBA) in 13 starts

Kikuchi (9-5, 3.57 ERA) makes his 29th start. He has a 1.24 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 148 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 8 K in 5-4 home win vs. the Kansas City Royals Friday
  • 2023 home splits: 5-2, 3.38 ERA (69 1/3 IP, 26 ER), 11 HR, .220 OBA in 13 starts

Rangers at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 5, Rangers 4

Moneyline

The BLUE JAYS (-125) should be able to get well and get a much-needed victory at home.

Montgomery has struggled on the road this season, at least in terms of wins and losses, although a good chunk of those failures were in St. Louis. Still, he hasn’t won in 3 road assignments as a member of the Rangers (+105), including a shaky effort Aug. 27 in Minnesota in his most recent road showing.

Run line/Against the spread

The Rangers +1.5 (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return if you would like some insurance. If you like Texas, just play it straight up. I don’t love them, however, and think Toronto gets it done behind Kikuchi, who has been money at home this season.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The OVER 8.5 (-105) is worth a look, as these teams have combined for an average of 11.5 runs per game in the 1st 2 of the series.

The Over is also 3-0-1 in the past 4 starts by Kikuchi, while the Over has connected in 3 straight assignments for Monty, and 4 of the past 5 starts overall.

I don’t think this is a slam-dunk play, so go lightly, but we should get another Over result.

Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (79-64) and the Toronto Blue Jays (80-64) play the 2nd contest of a 4-game series Tuesday night at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 3-1

The Rangers picked up a 10-4 victory in the series opener, winning for the 3rd consecutive outing after a 4-game losing streak from last Monday to Friday. The Over (8.5) cashed for Texas on Monday, and it is now 8-1 across the past 9 games overall and 6-2-1 in its last 9 road outings.

The Blue Jays saw their 3-game win streak halted by the Rangers. They’re still 8-3 across the past 11 games overall, while the Under is 3-1-1 in the past 5 contests.

Toronto has allowed 10 or more runs to Texas in the past 2 meetings, cashing the Over in each of those battles.

Rangers at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Max Scherzer vs. LHP Hyun Jin Ryu

Scherzer (12-6, 3.91 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.13 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 through 147 1/3 IP with Rangers and New York Mets.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 IP, 7 ER, 6 H (3 HR), 2 BB, 4 K in 12-3 home loss vs. the Houston Astros Wednesday
  • 2023 road splits: 7-4, 4.59 ERA (80 1/3 IP, 41 ER), 21 HR, .242 opponent batting average (OBA) in 14 starts

Ryu (3-2, 2.65 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.06 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 34 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 5 K in 5-2 road loss vs. the Oakland Athletics Wednesday
  • 2023 home splits: 2-1, 3.60 ERA (15 1/3 IP, 6 ER), 3 HR, .259 OBA in 3 starts

Rangers at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Blue Jays 4

Moneyline

The RANGERS (-110) are the play for the 2nd consecutive day in this potential playoff preview.

Texas has handled itself well against left-handed starting pitchers this season, going 25-15. The Rangers streak in with 3 straight victories and have a plus-148 run differential on the season, the 2nd-best mark in the American League.

Run line/Against the spread

The Blue Jays +1.5 (-185) will cost you nearly 2 times your potential return if you think they’ll keep it close behind Ryu.

However, Toronto is 9-12 in the past 21 games at Rogers Centre and has been performing better on the road lately.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The OVER 8 (-120) is the lean, but play it lightly, as we won’t have nearly as many runs as we saw in the series opener.

While the Under is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games for the Blue Jays, the Rangers cashed the Over on their own Monday and they’ve piled up 21 runs in the past 2 meetings against Toronto pitching.

The Rangers have played 19 runs in the past 2 games, and the pitching staff has coughed up 74 runs in the past 10 outings, or 7.4 runs per game (RPG).

Season series: Rangers lead 2-1

The Rangers won 9-4 as -237 home favorites vs. the Oakland Athletics Sunday. The Rangers are a half-game back of the Seattle Mariners for the final AL Wild Card spot.

The Blue Jays completed a 3-game sweep vs. the Kansas City Royals with a 5-2 win as -169 home favorites Sunday. CF Kevin Kiermaier hit a go-ahead solo HR in the 7th inning as Toronto moved a game ahead of the Mariners for the 2nd AL Wild Card.

Rangers at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Dane Dunning vs. RHP Chris Bassitt

Dunning (9-6, 3.88 ERA) makes his 22nd start and 31st appearance. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9 in 146 innings.

Rangers at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 4, Rangers 3

Moneyline

The BLUE JAYS (-135) have won 8 of their last 10 outings and allow an MLB-best 3.66 earned runs per game this season, according to TeamRankings.com.

The Rangers exploded for 9 runs last time out but had scored just 3 or fewer in their previous 4 games.

Bassitt has been much better at home this season and should set Toronto up for a win vs. this Rangers team that is just 6-16 in its last 22 games.

BET BLUE JAYS (-135).

Run line/Against the spread

Toronto has not been blowing teams out at Rogers Centre this season and is just 24-36 on the run line as a home favorite. Texas +1.5 (-175) will likely hit, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the run line when Toronto ML is the better play.

PASS. Bet the run line and/or the total instead.

Over/Under

The Under is 33-23-4 (58.9%) this season when the Blue Jays are home favorites. Bassitt has allowed 3 or fewer earned runs in 10 of his last 13 starts and should be able to keep this game low-scoring as the Under hits for the 3rd straight Blue Jays game.

BET UNDER 9 (-120).

Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays open their 2022 seasons Friday with a 7:07 p.m. ET first pitch at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Toronto went 4-2 against Texas and outscored the Rangers 36-13 in 2021.

The Rangers lost 102 games last season. They struggled mightily on the road, going 24-57 (.296) on their way to an overall 60-102 (.370) mark and their fifth consecutive losing season.

The Blue Jays went 91-71 (.562) in 2021. They missed out on a Wild Card playoff berth by 1 game.

Rangers at Blue Jays: Projected starters

RHP Jon Gray vs. RHP Jose Berrios

Gray (8-12, 4.59 ERA in 2021) makes his Rangers debut after seven years with the Colorado Rockies. He registered a 1.33 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9, and 9.5 K/9 through 149 IP last season.

  • His 3.5 BB/9 last year marked a career-worst.

Berrios (12-9, 3.52 ERA in 2021) was acquired from the Minnesota Twins for the stretch run last season. He posted a 1.06 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, and 9.6 K/9 in 192 IP overall last year.

  • Allowed a .557 OPS last April, and the season’s first month and his best in terms of OPS allowed (.610 career).
  • Has held current Texas bats to a .722 OPS.

Rangers at Blue Jays prediction and picks

Prediction

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 4

Money line

Toronto has vacillated between the No. 2 and No. 3 choice in 2022 World Series futures betting. Texas has received attention for committing more than $500M over the offseason.

Texas still has plenty of question marks despite newcomers SS Corey Seager and 2B Marcus Semien. The bullpens — key in April — figure to make for a big Toronto advantage.

Run line/Against the spread

With Toronto’s elite offense — the Jays went 31-15 last year in games decided by 5-plus runs — some bettors may want to mix in some run-line action alongside the above play.

TORONTO -1.5 (+110) fits the bill.

Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays Game 2 odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Texas Rangers (35-56) and Toronto Blue Jays (46-42) play a doubleheader Sunday at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, N.Y. Game 2’s first pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Mike Foltynewicz is the projected starting pitcher for the Rangers. He is 2-8 with a 5.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 6.6 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 over 100 1/3 IP across 18 starts.

Foltynewicz doesn’t have a great record, but he has pitched well lately. He has three quality starts across his last four outings while lowering his ERA from 5.59 to 5.11 during that span since June 18.

Foltynewicz faced the Blue Jays in his first outing this season on April 5, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 7 strikeouts across 4 innings in a loss at Arlington.

LHP Steven Matz is the projected starting pitcher for the Blue Jays. He is 7-4 with a 4.72 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 across 76 1/3 innings in 15 starts.

Matz was hit around for 4 runs (3 earned) and 6 hits across 4 innings in a loss at Baltimore in his most recent start July 6.

He faced the Rangers April 5 in Arlington opposite Foltynewicz, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk with 9 strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a victory.

  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers +1.5 (-120) | Blue Jays -1.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 3

Money line (ML)

The Blue Jays (-200) are a little on the expensive side in the nightcap, and they’re fairly priced behind Matz. He pitched very well against the Rangers earlier this season, and while Foltynewicz has been pitching much better lately, he’ll find the sledding tough at Sahlen Field.

AVOID.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BLUE JAYS -1.5 (+100) are headed into this doubleheader winning by at least 2 runs in each of their past 10 victories. So when you like Toronto to win, you should also like them to cover the run line.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 8 (-110) is a good play in this seven-inning game in Buffalo. The wind will be blowing out from 6-9 mph to straightaway center field in what is already a park which plays fairly small. This won’t be a shootout in Game 2, but the series finale will inch Over the total.

Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays Game 1 odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Texas Rangers at Toronto Blue Jays Game 1 odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Texas Rangers (35-56) and Toronto Blue Jays (46-42) play a doubleheader Sunday at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, N.Y. Game 1’s first pitch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rangers vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Kolby Allard is the projected starting pitcher for the Rangers. He is 2-6 with a 3.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9 over 63 1/3 IP across eight starts and 10 relief appearances.

  • Money line: Rangers +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Blue Jays -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers +1.5 (+100) | Blue Jays -1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Blue Jays 7, Rangers 3

Money line (ML)

The Blue Jays (-250) rolled up a 10-2 win in Friday’s series opener, and they’ll continue to roll in the front end of the double-dip Sunday. However, you cannot risk so much for such little return on the favorite. Look to the run line instead.

AVOID.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BLUE JAYS -1.5 (-120) are a much better play laying the run and a half. The rested Jays won by eight runs Friday for their 10th consecutive win by at least 2 runs.

So, if you like the Jays to win, you should like them to do so by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 8 (-110) was taken care of by the Blue Jays on their own Friday. They might not do it again Sunday against the southpaw Allard in the doubleheader opener. However, both of these teams should combine for enough for another Over result.

The Over has cashed in seven of the last eight for Texas against a left-handed starting pitcher. For Toronto, the Over has gone 9-3 in the last 12 against AL West teams and 4-1-1 in the last six against clubs with a winning percentage under .400.
