Texas at Kansas State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas at Kansas State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 9 Texas Longhorns (18-4, 7-2 Big 12) will attempt to take down the No. 6 Kansas State Wildcats (18-4, 6-3) at home Saturday at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas vs. Kansas State game odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

After a 90-78 loss to Kansas in a rematch of a stellar 83-82 Wildcats victory, Kansas State returns home to attempt to take down another of the elite teams in the Big 12 in Texas.

Although the loss to Kansas on the road is not devastating, a 2nd-straight loss in conference will do damage to a remarkable season the Wildcats opened as favorites to finish last in the conference.

Texas comes in after winning a home game 76-71 over the Baylor Bears as 4-point favorites Monday. This came following a loss last weekend to a Tennessee team, which most recently lost to Florida in its own return to action.

Texas comes into this one with a top-30 offense at 79.9 points and a defense allowing 67.7 points while Kansas State comes in averaging 77.2 points on offense and allowing 68.3 points.

PASS on the ML in favor of the spread.

Against the spread

TEXAS -1.5 (+100) is the side to wager.

Despite the dismissal of its coach, Texas has not fallen like many anticipated. An offense that ranks 27th in the nation has led the charge for the Longhorns and will continue to pace them in this one.

Kansas State will struggle with the size of Texas, and with the line only being 1.5 points, I like Texas to cover this number.

Over/Under

Take OVER 150.5 (-110) for the total play.

Texas and Kansas State both rank top 60 in scoring offense while also both being outside the top 125 in team defense.

In its last 5 games after an ATS victory, Texas has gone Over the posted total.

For the Wildcats, they have gone Over in 9 of their last 11 games after an ATS loss and the Over is also 6-0 in the last 6 games against teams with a winning record.

Both offenses will be able to run the floor in this matchup, and both teams getting into the mid-70s is not far-fetched.

Texas at Kansas State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas at Kansas State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Texas Longhorns (5-3, 3-2 Big 12) travel to Manhattan to battle the  Kansas State Wildcats (6-2, 4-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas vs. Kansas State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Kansas State is No. 14 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY sports and No. 13 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings.

The last time we saw Texas on the field, they blew a big lead in losing 41-34 at Oklahoma State. After a bye week to recover, Texas goes back on the road to visit Kansas State.

Since taking over at Texas last season, coach Steve Sarkisian is 1-6 in true road games. Kansas State is a good team and funny things can happen to teams who visit.

Kansas State  looks to win this game and stay on pace with TCU for a hopeful playoff berth to finish off a miraculous season. Transfer QB Adrian Martinez has not been the sparkplug many had hoped for. With him ailing last week, the team turned to Will Howard, and he led them to a 48-0 win against Oklahoma State.

It is unknown who will start for the Wildcats this week. But if Martinez is not fully healthy, common sense suggests that Howard should start. With his spark and the ability of Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State has a real chance of sending Texas to a 2nd straight road loss.

Texas at Kansas State picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas State 28, Texas 24

Moneyline

BET KANSAS STATE (+120).

The Wildcats come into this game with something to really play for. They need to win out to gain a berth in the Big 12 Championship game. While Texas still has a path, it is much more convoluted.

I like the Wildcats in this spot, and they should not be underdogs at home. Kansas State +120 is my favorite play in this game.

Against the spread

AVOID.

The underdog Wildcats should win this game. I would rather take them on the ML then split the wager between the 2.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 55 (-115).

Both teams in this game can score. But this scoring has come against mediocre defenses. When faced with a more challenging matchup, both teams tend to turtle up. While both teams will get to 20-plus points, I do not see both getting to 30. So, I lean to the Under 55 (-115).

Texas at Kansas State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Texas Longhorns at Kansas State Wildcats odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 16 Texas Longhorns (11-2, 1-0 Big 12) and Kansas State Wildcats (8-4, 0-1) meet Tuesday for a conference tilt in Manhattan, Kan. Tip-off at Bramlage Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas vs. Kansas State odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas has dominated teams defensively throughout a five-game win streak. The Longhorns have held foes to a 35.9% mark from the floor while holding them to 44.8 points per game during the streak. Texas ranks first in the nation with 51.9 points allowed per game.

The Wildcats had won three in a row and six of their last seven before falling to Oklahoma 71-69 on New Year’s Day. Kansas State has also been solid on defense: it had allowed just 60.8 PPG over its previous five contests before New Year’s Day.

With G Nijel Pack (42.4% on 3-pointers) leading the way, KSU has been a dangerous team from beyond the arc. The Wildcats have shot 38.9% from distance over their last four games.

Texas at Kansas State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 62, Kansas State 57

Money line

A veteran Texas five is the likable side due to some expected cushion in the turnover and rebound exchanges, but the pricing here is not workable on either side: PASS.

Against the spread

The Longhorns are coming off three straight home games and haven’t played a representative schedule yet. Texas is 0-4 ATS in its last four road games following three or more consecutive home games and is 1-5 ATS in their last six road games versus a team with a home winning percentage of .600-or-better.

The underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between UT and KSU.

Look for the underdog Wildcats to triple their way into a close enough battle in a slow-paced game. TAKE KANSAS STATE +6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Under is 7-2 in the Wildcats’ last nine games against .600-or-better teams and is 6-2 in KSU’s last eight games and 5-1 in UT’s last six.

Texas has had some shooting woes away from home. BACK THE UNDER 123.5 (-112) in a slow-versus-slow battle.

The No. 13 Texas Longhorns (11-5, 5-4 Big 12) travel to meet the Kansas State Wildcats (5-15, 1-10) at Bramlage Coliseum for an 8 p.m. ET tip Tuesday. Below, we analyze the Texas-Kansas State college basketball odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Texas -1200 (bet $1,200 to win $100) | Kansas State +750 (bet $100 to win $750)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Texas -13.5 (-110) | Kansas State +13.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 134.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Texas at Kansas State: Three things to know

  1. Texas is in freefall, dropping three straight and four of the past five. Its only victory in the previous five outings is an 82-67 win over K-State in Austin Jan. 16. The Longhorns didn’t cover the 16.5-point number vs. the Wildcats, and are 0-5 ATS in their past five.
  2. The Longhorns have been consistent when it comes to totals. They have hit the Over in eight of the past nine games overall, including the first meeting with the Wildcats. The Over is 3-1 in the past four for K-State, and 2-0 in its past two outings at Bramlage.
  3. Kansas State is skidding hard, dropping 10 straight games, including nine in a row inside the conference. K-State has also covered just once in the previous six, and is 3-8 ATS over the past 11 outings.

Texas at Kansas State: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas 78, Kansas State 61

Money line (ML)

Texas (-1200) is way too heavy of a favorite. If you lay that kind of number, you are way more adventurous than I’ll ever be. AVOID, and look to the spread.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS -13.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play as a visit to Kansas State should be the elixir to cure the Longhorns’ recent ills. However, they haven’t covered in five straight outings, so don’t get too carried away. Texas is still 4-1 ATS in the past five road outings, and K-State is 8-22 ATS in its past 30 at home. In addition, the road team is 9-2 ATS across the past 11 in this series.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 134.5 (-110) has been the rule in Texas games lately, win or lose. The Longhorns have hit the Over in eight of the past nine, and the Over is 5-0 in their past five against teams with a winning percentage of .400 or lower. The Over is also 9-3 in the past 12 for Kansas State at home against road teams with a winning percentage of .600 or higher. K-State allows 73.8 points per game. The Longhorns will be able to flirt with 80 in this one.

Texas at Kansas State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas 28, Kansas State 24

Money line (ML)

Texas is significantly better than Kansas State offensively. Neither team is good defensively, but Kansas State has to control the clock to win. The Wildcats give up too many third downs and the Longhorns are good on third downs. Take TEXAS (-275) even if it isn’t much of a value.

Against the spread (ATS)

Texas is 2-5-1 ATS this season and 1-5-1 ATS in its last seven. The Longhorns are 3-13 ATS against the Wildcats, while KSU consistently keeps games close, going 6-2 ATS this season. Take KANSAS STATE +7 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total has gone UNDER in six of the last seven games between these two teams. Texas will play down to opponents as well, so take UNDER 50.5 (-105).
