Here is a look at Ewers arriving for his first fall camp as a Longhorn.
Steve Sarkisian and his staff made major headlines this offseason in their efforts to boost the talent on the Texas roster.
The Longhorns used both the 2022 recruiting cycle and the transfer portal to their advantage, creating some real momentum heading into the 2022 season. Perhaps the biggest fish Texas landed is former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers.
The Ohio State transfer is back in the state of Texas after spending his redshirt freshman season in Columbus, and Texas faithful could not be more excited. He is one of two quarterback to earn a perfect 1.0000 prospect rating out of high school. The other was Longhorn legend Vince Young.
Ewers enters fall camp in a quarterback battle with redshirt sophomore Hudson Card who had an up-and-down 2021 season.
Quinn’s exceptional arm talent makes him a great fit for Sarkisian’s attacking style of offense. Here is a look at Ewers arriving for his first fall camp as a Longhorn.

Confidence is perhaps the greatest predictor of success for quarterbacks.
Hudson Card and Quinn Ewers will battle for the starting quarterback position at Texas. And barring erratic play from either of the two, the more decisive quarterback should prevail.
Card possesses immense talent. The No. 2 dual-threat quarterback from the 2020 recruiting class has a good arm and solid speed. While the measurable traits are present, the Lake Travis product has yet to take hold of the starting position.
Ewers comes in with many strong tangible and intangible qualities, but lacks the game experience for us to definitively project how he will perform.
One of the quarterbacks will face the toughest second-game test imaginable.
Texas will play against an Alabama defense with Will Anderson and Dallas Turner terrorizing an already fragile pass protection. Steve Sarkisian will need the quarterback to make good decisions as quickly as possible.
The decisive quarterback in that scenario figures to win out.
