Texas vs. Kansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 72, Texas 67

Moneyline

I’ll take KANSAS (-125) to secure the Big 12 title on Saturday despite that it lost 75-59 to Texas in the most recent meeting last Saturday. The Longhorns are 1-5 as underdogs compared to the Jayhawks being 24-2 as favorites.

Against the spread

KANSAS -1.5 (-110) is the choice in this game with it providing more value than the moneyline at such a small spread. The Jayhawks should be able to lean on F Jalen Wilson and G Gradey Dick in a crucial conference game.

Kansas is 15-5 straight up against Big 12 opponents and is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games following an ATS win.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 141.5 (-110).

Both of these teams possess formidable defenses that are allowing a combined 136.9 points per game. Neither of these teams has reached 140 total points in their first two Big 12 tournament games.

The Longhorns are 4-0 to the Under in their last 4 games and the Jayhawks are 6-0 to the Under in their last 6 games.

Texas at Kansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 75, Texas 70

Moneyline

AVOID.

There’s no reason to wager on the moneyline in this game unless you’re confident that Texas comes away with an impressive road win.

Against the spread

KANSAS -4.5 (-105) is the lean here as the Jayhawks look to bounce back at home following a disappointing loss on Saturday. After shooting 38.6% from the field and dishing out only 12 assists in the loss to Iowa State, expect Kansas to be much better on Monday.

Over/Under

Even though these teams are capable of scoring points in bunches, UNDER 147.5 (-115) is the lean. The Jayhawks are 3-6 to the Under in their 9 games against ranked opponents this season.

Texas and Kansas have also gone Under this total in 6 of the last 8 meetings.

Texas at Kansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas Longhorns at Kansas Jayhawks odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Texas Longhorns (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) visit a familiar foe in conference opponent Kansas Jayhawks (6-4, 3-4) Saturday. Kickoff from David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas vs. Kansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Longhorns are coming off a 17-10 loss to 4th-ranked TCU last Saturday in which Texas was a 7.5-point home favorite. It was the lack of offense, especially the ground attack, that hampered Texas as star RB Bijan Robinson only rushed for 29 yards, well below his 125.4 rushing yards per game. The only touchdown for the Longhorns was DB Jahdae Barron’s 48-yard fumble recovery. QB Quinn Ewers only threw for 171 yards with 1 INT and a 43.6% completion rate (17 of 39 attempts).

Kansas lost 43-28 as a 3.5-point underdog at Texas Tech last week, likely wiping out any chance of making the Big 12 Championship Game. The defense struggled, giving up 510 yards and 26 first downs — though the KU offense finished with 525 yards (and 20 first downs). It didn’t help that the Jayhawks turned the ball over twice, which led to 2nd-quarter FG and a 4th-quarter TD (with 3:33 to go) for the Red Raiders.

Texas at Kansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 35, Kansas 31

Moneyline

AVOID.

If there was less risk involved with a moneyline of -320, I’d suggest backing the Longhorns as they are the better team. However, Texas, which is 1-3 ATS in its last 4 games, hasn’t proven it’s worth this price.

I could see taking a chance with Kansas (+255), but I’ll focus on the spread below.

Against the spread

BET KANSAS +9 (-110).

This game will be closer than these odds suggest. This isn’t the usual Kansas squad that wins 3 games and looks terrible throughout the season. The Jayhawks started off 5-0 ATS and has the ability to not only make this game close, but the ability to win it.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 63.5 (-111).

Both of these teams have very high-powered offenses, despite Texas’s last offensive performance, and the offenses will carry the Over. Texas has a lot of potential offensively and it tends to show up in bigger games, as it did   against Oklahoma Oct. 8 in a 49-0 beatdown.

If both of these offenses show up, OVER 63.5 (-111) should cash.

Texas at Kansas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas at Kansas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 21 Texas Longhorns (21-9, 10-7 Big 12) and No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks (24-6, 13-4) clash in a top-25 showdown Saturday in Lawrence, Ks. The contest at Allen Fieldhouse is slated to tip off at 4 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas vs. Kansas odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Texas defeated Kansas 79-76 Feb. 7. The Longhorns were outshot by a hefty margin but were a plus-9 in turnovers as they downed the Jayhawks for a third straight time (and a second straight by a margin of 3 points). UT is 3-3 across six games since.

The Jayhawks have struggled from the floor in going just 1-2 over their last three games. The best shooting team in the circuit (54.7% effective) has shot just 38.0% over the trio of games. At home this season, Kansas is 15-1.

Texas at Kansas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 72, Texas 63

Money line

Texas has been without junior C Tre Mitchell (personal) since Feb. 12. The Longhorns have missed his 6-foot-9 presence in losing three of their last six games. And figure on Kansas leveraging his expected absence in this revenge spot Saturday afternoon.

For bigger bankrolls, a line watch and a play on Kansas at -290 or better is suggested.

Against the spread

Texas is 1-3 ATS in its last four on the road.

Kansas has the edge inside the arc — at both ends — needed to get this differential near double digits. Or near enough.

BACK THE JAYHAWKS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The last three Longhorns-Jayhawks affairs have hit the Over, but peg this meeting for a tally in the low-130s and an Under. Don’t figure on perimeter points getting out of control for either side. And playing for a possible share of the Big 12 title, Kansas likely plays out the final 8-10 minutes in rather conservative fashion.

BACK THE UNDER 137.5 (-108).

Texas at Kansas odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Texas Longhorns at Kansas Jayhawks sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Texas Longhorns (6-3 overall, 5-3 Big 12) visit the winless Kansas Jayhawks (0-9, 0-8) Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff in their regular-season finales. Below, we analyze the Texas-Kansas college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Longhorns are No. 23 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas at Kansas: Three things to know

  1. Texas bounced back from a 23-20 Thanksgiving week loss at home to then-No. 15 Iowa State with a 69-31 rout at Kansas State last week. QB Sam Ehlinger threw for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns, while RBs Bijan Robinson (172 rushing yards, 9 carries) and Roschon Johnson (139 rushing yards, 14 carries) scored 3 TDs apiece. The Longhorns finished with 334 rushing yards and 10.1 yards per carry. Prior to the KSU game, the sophomore Robinson had only 2 rushing TDs and Johnson, a freshman, had none.
  2. Despite finishing with just 214 total yards (102 passing, 112 rushing), Kansas played its closest game of the season in a 16-13 loss at Texas Tech last week. The Jayhawks, who trailed 10-0 after one quarter and 13-3 midway through the third, managed to tie the game at 13-all when RB Daniel Hishaw Jr. scored on a 12-yard run with 10:46 remaining. Tech answered with a 52-yard, 10-play drive to kick a go-ahead field goal at the 5:36 mark. Kansas had the ball two more times, but went 4-and-out on each possession. KU’s defense forced 4 turnovers, while the offense failed to turn the ball over.
  3. Texas leads the all-time series 16-2, including a wild 50-48 win last season in Austin. PK Cameron Dicker‘s 33-yard field goal as time expired saved the then-No. 15 Longhorns an embarrassing loss. The fourth quarter featured 50 combined points as the two teams exchanged 6 touchdowns, 2 field goals and a blocked extra point for a safety. Texas has won the last 3 in the series. This year’s contest was originally scheduled for Nov. 21 but was postponed after COVID-19 concerns within the Kansas program.

Texas at Kansas: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas 51, Kansas 20

Money line (ML)

PASS. Even if a line is posted before kickoff, it will be way too high of a price on Texas.

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS -29.5 (-110) is worth a play. Kansas, which is averaging just 15.8 points per game, has been having problems finding the end zone all season. There’s no reason to believe that will change in its final game of 2020.

Meanwhile, with fourth-year head coach Tom Herman (31-18 at Texas) on the hot seat, look for the Longhorns players to send a message that they want him back in 2021.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 61.5 (-115) is the way to go. As long as the Jayhawks can score 14 or more points, the Over should hit as I expect the Longhorns to score at least 48 points with Ehlinger playing his final regular-season collegiate game. Plus, if this is the blowout I expect, Kansas should add some garbage-time points in the fourth quarter.
