  1. Winless-in-the-league Iowa State played the Longhorns tough when these two teams met Jan. 5 in Austin, Texas. UT won that game, 78-72, despite being out-rebounded by the Cyclones, 39-28. Six of ISU’s 15 conference losses have been by a two-possession margin or less.
  2. Texas was felled 68-59 by Texas Tech Saturday. The loss marked the Longhorns’ second this season against the Red Raiders, and it sank UT’s record since Jan. 14 to 4-6. Texas shot just 34.7% from the field Saturday, and the ‘Horns have shot just 36.4 over their last two games.
  3. The Longhorns are a solid rebounding team adept at turning offensive boards into second-chance points. Iowa State has yielded 10.9 offensive rebounds per game on the season. That figure is even higher (11.6) over the Cyclones’ last seven games.
