Texas football prepares for its first fall scrimmage

Position battles are taken to another level this Saturday.

The Texas Longhorns are set for their first scrimmage of camp this Saturday. Joe Cook of Inside Texas detailed what Steve Sarkisian and company aim to discover.

Position battles loom large as Texas looks to find its best 11 on offense and defense. The most uncertainty for Texas is at quarterback, offensive line and safety.

Throughout camp, the young offensive line players have impressed the coaching staff. There is hope that the unit could improve drastically this year.

At quarterback, there is still a heated battle. While Hudson Card may be the safe pick, Quinn Ewers figures to raise the Longhorns’ win ceiling.

On the defensive side, we can be certain that the group will have limitations. The scrimmage will be a great opportunity to show if they have figured out how to tackle, cover and pursue as a cohesive unit.

Starting jobs may not be won Saturday. but the scrimmage is a key data point in making those decisions.
