SEC play begins with pair of juicy matchups for Texas A&M men’s basketball team

Before football starts, it’s time to look ahead to hoops season as the Texas A&M men’s basketball team released its SEC schedule on Tuesday.

Although we may all be hyperfixated on the college football campaign starting next week, and for good reason, it’s time to look ahead to hoops season as the Texas A&M men’s basketball team released its full SEC schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The conference slate begins on the fourth day of 2025. The first two SEC games on the Aggies’ schedule are against two programs that weren’t even in the conference last year: Texas and Oklahoma.

Texas A&M hosts the Longhorns before playing in Norman against the Sooners on either Jan. 7 or 8, which is to be determined. The Aggies close out January against the same two squads, Jan. 25 at Texas and Jan. 28 or 29 versus Oklahoma.

Following eight games in January and seven in February, Texas A&M begins the madness with three more conference contests in March. The Aggies play at Florida on March 1, against Auburn on March 4 or 5 in the regular season home finale and March 8 in the bayou at LSU.

White helmets unveiled by Texas A&M football team only 5 days after revealing black jerseys

Whether if it’s an alternate or one-off, the Aggies will have a new look this season and another piece of the ensemble was revealed Tuesday.

Whether if it’s in alternate capacity or just a one-off, the Texas A&M football team will have a new look at times this season and another piece of the ensemble was revealed this week.

The Aggie football social media team revealed white helmets on Tuesday night, only five days after unveiling all black jerseys with white lettering. Junior quarterback Conner Weigman and senior wide receiver Jahdae Walker were among the Texas A&M players spotted wearing the white helmets with a maroon face mask.

What could be next? Black pants with a maroon stripe? Or perhaps a white stripe down the side of black pants? We all are anxiously waiting to see more.

Back in May, Aggies Wire ranked helmets in the SEC from worst to best. Bias aside, Texas A&M finished with the top spot. So now after adding a slick alternate cap, the Aggies appear to have a stranglehold on that position.

Buccaneers star and Aggies alumnus Mike Evans closing in on becoming 6th WR in elite group

For anyone who has watched Evans throughout his career with the Buccaneers, it’s clear that he is a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer.

For anyone who has watched Mike Evans throughout his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s clear that he is a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer.

The Texas A&M alumnus has surpassed at least 1,000 yards for 10 consecutive seasons. Now as Evans enters his 11th season in the NFL, he is already knocking on the door at entering a group of extremely elite wide outs.

With 1,320 yards receiving this year, Evans would become the sixth player in NFL history to rack up at least 13,000 yards receiving during his first 11 campaigns. The other five? Five Hall of Famers and someone who will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio within the next decade: Jerry Rice, Torrey Holt, Marvin Harrison Sr., Randy Moss and Julio Jones.

Considering that Evans has recorded over 1,320 yards receiving twice in his career and came very close on several occasions, the goal is more than in reach. For those who may say he’s “slowing down,” last season’s 1,255 yards receiving says otherwise.

Thunder guard and Texas A&M alumnus Alex Caruso rated higher in NBA 2k25 than 2 legends

Ahead of the release for NBA 2k25, player ratings have begun to be revealed and the newest member of the Thunder is ranked ahead of legends.

As one of the best defensive guards in the NBA, Texas A&M alumnus Alex Caruso is well respected by his peers — and deservingly so.

Ahead of the release for NBA 2k25 on Sept. 6, player ratings have begun to be revealed and the newest member of the Thunder is ranked ahead of two future Basketball Hall of Famers.

Caruso was given an 82 rating which ranked him 71st overall in the association. Other players with an identical rating include: Jalen Suggs, Herbert Jones, Jerami Grant, Darius Garland, Ivica Zubac and Jonas Valančiūnas.

The combo guard found himself slotted ahead of five former NBA All-Stars, two of which are arguably first ballot Hall of Famers. Those pair of legends are Chris Paul and Klay Thompson. After Caruso was traded to Oklahoma City in June, the move was compared to when the Golden State Warriors acquired Thompson’s former teammate, Andre Iguodala.

The other three All-Stars ranked behind Caruso, all of which with an 81 rating, are D’Angelo Russell, Mike Conley and Nikola Vucevic.

Klavemann graduated from Refugio High School in the Lone Star State. She suited up for the Florida State softball team from 2015 to 2018.

On Friday evening, Ford hired Morgan Klaevemann as the program’s new director of player development. Klavemann joins a staff that includes assistants: Jeff Harger, Russ Heffley and Eric Leyba.

“Super grateful and excited for this opportunity! Gig’em,” Klavemann stated Friday night on X.

Panthers safety & Texas A&M alumnus Demani Richardson intercepts reigning UFL MVP vs. Jets

After hauling in two interceptions during practice this week, safety Demani Richardson recorded his first professional turnover on Saturday.

After hauling in two interceptions during practice this past week, Carolina Panthers rookie safety Demani Richardson recorded his first professional turnover on Saturday evening.

The Texas A&M alumnus intercepted reigning UFL MVP Adrian Martinez in the third quarter of a 15-12 preseason loss against the New York Jets. Then Richardson spoke to the media postgame.

“Just doing what I’m coached. We got good coaches and I’m in the right spot. Quarterbacks, they’re not making the right read and I’m just capitalizing on what I’m coached to do,” Richardson said. “Our coaches teach us just to lean to the receiver side or the bad matchup. So, I leaned to the side and the quarterback overthrew the ball.

“I should have scored, but I let a lineman tackle me, so I feel like that’s a bad return. I can’t let a lineman tackle me.”

Richardson may have locked up a roster spot this weekend after impressing head coach Dave Canales.

“Every day is new lessons, learning different coverages, leverage and all that. And the cool part about Demani is, he had an opportunity tonight. He took advantage of it. Sometimes we get those ops and the guy either can or can’t come up with the ball,” Canales explained. “He did a fantastic job of finishing that play, putting us in a good situation, getting us back on the board and really making it a three-point game at that point. So, that was awesome.”

Richardson will have one more opportunity to prove himself this upcoming Saturday at noon CT versus the Buffalo Bills.

Coach Mike Elko names Texas A&M linebacker candidates that may start next to Taurean York

It’s abundantly clear who the best linebacker is at Texas A&M. However, who starts next to sophomore Taurean York is a giant question mark.

For anyone who watched Texas A&M football last year, it’s abundantly clear who the best linebacker on the team is. However, who starts next to sophomore Taurean York is a giant question mark.

On Saturday afternoon, Aggies head coach Mike Elko named three candidates who could start alongside York this season: sophomore Daymion Sanford, junior Scooby Williams and senior Solomon DeShields.

Considering that Sanford is the only member of that trio who played in College Station last year, he may be the frontrunner. Although, the two transfers do come to Aggieland with more collegiate experience.

Sanford played in all 13 games as a true freshman. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Paetow High School in Katy, Texas.

Williams is well acquainted with the SEC after spending three years with the Florida Gators. In 25 total contests, he racked up 70 tackles, with 35 of the solo variety.

DeShields played at Pitt for four years. He took a redshirt season in 2020 after competing in four games as a true freshman. Afterwards, DeShields displayed his durability by suiting up in 38 total games for the Panthers.

Texas A&M alumnus Tyrece Radford signs first professional contract with an overseas team

After spending July playing for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League, Tyrece Radford has signed his first professional contract.

After spending July playing for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League, Texas A&M alumnus Tyrece “Boots” Radford has signed his first professional basketball contract with a team overseas.

On Tuesday, Radford signed with Final Spor Genclik Bursa of the Basketbol Süper Ligi, which is a part of the Turkish Basketball Federation. During his final season in College Station, Boots averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

While playing for San Antonio, Radford participated in the California Classic held at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. After two games in the Capitol of the Golden State, he spoke exclusively with Aggies Wire.

Among many topics, Boots discussed his discovery that patience is a virtue.

“Going into college as a freshman, everybody wants to play immediately and thinks they’re prepared for it. You have to preach patience because your time is going to come. My time came, I played and I was a starter in college. Now it’s a total reset,” Radford said last month. “My experience in college from a freshman to a senior was to be patient. Now starting over, I can tell myself to be patient, it’s a process. I was talking to coach (Devin Johnson) the other day and it’s just about being patient but staying ready.

“It’s a line, you gotta be patient, try your best to stay ready and whenever your opportunity comes, take full advantage of it. That’s where I’m at mentally.”

Per ESPN, Texas A&M RB Rueben Owens ‘expected to miss the season’ with ‘lower body injury’

Per ESPN college football writers Max Olson and Pete Thamel, Aggies sophomore running back Rueben Owens will miss the entire 2024 campaign.

According to recent reports, the Texas A&M football team suffered a big loss this weekend.

Per ESPN college football writers Max Olson and Pete Thamel, Aggies sophomore running back Rueben Owens II will miss the entire 2024 campaign following a “lower body injury” that he suffered Saturday during a team scrimmage.

The news was confirmed by 247Sports reporter Carter Karels. He added that sources couldn’t provide a timeline of when Foster may be able to return.

Owens was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team last year. Among true freshmen, he led the conference in all-purpose yards (743), rushing yards (385) and kick return yards (249).

The underclassman tailback had a clean bill of health during his first season in College Station, appearing in all 13 games and making five starts. He tallied at least one rush in each contest and had a catch in eight games.

EJ Smith, the son of Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, transferred to Texas A&M this past offseason after four years at Stanford. Juniors, Amari Daniels and Le’Veon Moss, round out the RBs depth chart.
