Texas A&M Basketball vs A&M-Commerce: Channel, time, streaming info

Watch Texas A&M vs A&M-Commerce game today. Here’s how to watch, time, TV schedule, live streaming info, and game odds.

Friday night the Texas A&M basketball team will step on the court at Reed Arena to face Texas A&M-Commerce (East Texas A&M) in their home opener.

The season opener didn’t go as planned for the Aggies, but they will have a chance to mark one in the win column before the weekend. In the five games played between the two teams the Aggies are a perfect 5-0 against the Lions with only the very first game being close.

This should be a comfortable win for Buzz William’s squad, but if we see another week of scoring droughts, poor perimeter defense, and missed free throws the game could be much closer than it should be. How they respond will show us where their mindset might be early this season.

Luis Perez living out dream playing for Chargers

Luis Perez is a San Diego native.

For anyone, it’s a dream to play for the team you’re a fan of growing up.

Quarterback Luis Perez, the San Diego native, is experiencing that feeling after signing with the Chargers a week ago.

“It’s awesome. I grew up a Charger fan my whole life so being able to be here and wear the Chargers uniform, it’s a great feeling,” Perez said. “Not only for myself, but for my family.”

Perez was brought in just days before Los Angeles’ preseason opener against the Seahawks and had to get familiar with the playbook quickly.

“Yeah, just enhanced times ten because I only had two practices and then played,” Perez said. “The coaches did a great job helping me, staying after and giving me stuff that I was comfortable with. They didn’t go out and give me stuff right before or stuff I wasn’t comfortable with.”

Perez threw for 61 yards, the most in the game. His highlight throw was a 36-yarder to rookie wide receiver Jaylen Johnson.

After coming in on short notice before his performance in the preseason game, the coaches praised Perez.

“He’s in here late every day trying to pick it up,” offensive coordinator Greg Roman said. “Ended up going out there and doing a pretty good job. He’s got a lot to learn, a lot to catch up on. He’s sprinting to do it and really feels the sense of urgency. Been really impressed by that.”

Head coach Jim Harbaugh: “For a guy who’s been here [since Tuesday], pretty outstanding. Now we want more. But he’s attacking it. He’s here early, staying late. Doing everything in his power.”

Despite being on the roster for only a little over a week, Perez has garnered the coaches’ attention, and if he continues to play well, he could make a push for the backup spot.

Buzz Williams, Wade Taylor IV, and Hayden Hefner speak after No. 15 Texas A&M’s season-opening win vs. Texas A&M-Commerce

Hear what head coach Buzz Williams, Wade Taylor IV, and Hayden Hefner had to say after Texas A&M’s 78-46 win vs. Texas A&M Commerce.

No. 15 Texas A&M (1-0) opened up the season in front of the second biggest crowd on opening day for Aggie Basketball in team program history with a dominating 78-46 victory over the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (0-1).

Right off the bat, head coach Buzz Williams’ talented and now very deep squad had their sloppy moments in the first half but completely dominated on the boards, holding a 19-7 rebound advantage at one point while finishing with a 47-25 advantage.

Leading the scoring efforts, junior guard and preseason SEC Player of the Year Wade Taylor IV was on his game from start to finish, scoring 16 points, including 4-7 from 3-point, while surprisingly, junior guard Hayden Hefner, known more as a pure shooter, lit up the scoreboard in the paint and beyond the arc, scoring a game-high 19 points on 7-11 from the field, and 3-6 from 3-point.

Standing out the most is the Aggies’ depth, specifically transfer guards Jace Carter (8 points) and Eli Lawrence (11 points), who have already shown their potential impact in 2023.

After the game, Buzz Williams, alongside Wade Taylor IV and Hayden Hefner, spoke to the media to reflect on the win as they prepare to head to Columbus (OH) to face Ohio State on Friday night.

Lastly, please, if you can, donate to Texas A&M-Commerce head coach Jaret von Rosenberg’s GoFundMe, which was created in response after his wife suffered a stroke early last month and requires monetary aid through her various stages of rehabilitation.

What could the Oklahoma Sooners’ 2024 schedule look like in the SEC?

With the SEC deciding on an eight-game conference schedule for 2024, here’s how the Oklahoma Sooners schedule could look in their first year in the SEC.

At their spring meetings in Destin, Florida, the SEC decided to continue their use of an eight-game schedule for the 2024 season. It was one of the bigger debates at hand for a conference that’s been at the forefront of college football for some time.

Settling on an eight-game schedule, the SEC put in several provisions for how the league members should schedule nonconference games. Namely, each team would schedule at least one Power Five team. That could prove problematic for the Sooners.

Oklahoma has just two nonconference games scheduled for the 2024 season. The Sooners will play Temple and Tulane. Georgia would have been on the slate, but after Oklahoma and Texas announced they would join the SEC, the conference directed Georgia to cancel its nonconference game with the Sooners.

So that leaves a hole in the schedule. Because the Sooners have just two nonconference games scheduled, they’ll have to find two more games. Perusing future nonconference schedules, we found a pair of games that could make a lot of sense if Joe Castiglione can work his athletic director magic to make it happen.

Here’s a look at what the Sooners’ 2024 schedule could look like when it gets released on July 14 on the SEC network.
