Game 1 of Texas A&M vs. Florida in the CWS has been delayed

Texas A&M vs. Florida is now in a delay

Texas A&M (49-13) has reached the College World Series for the second time in three seasons under head coach Jim Schlossnagle. On Saturday night, the Aggies will face a feisty Florida Gators (34-28) team. Both programs last met during the start of SEC play in early mid-March.

As the game’s 6:06 p.m. start time approached, the weather in Omaha, Nebraska, took a turn, adding an element of unpredictability to the new start time, leading to the field being covered with a tarp. With no new start time confirmed, the game could potentially resume as late as 11:00 p.m., heightening the anticipation for the fans.

Here is the new broadcast information. We will update you on any changes, including the new starting time.

How to watch Game 1 of Texas A&M vs. Florida in the College World Series

With Justin Lamkin set to take the mound, here are the broadcast details for Texas A&M’s CWS Game 1 matchup vs. Florida

Texas A&M (49-13) has reached the College World Series for the second time in three seasons under head coach Jim Schlossnagle. The Aggies will face a feisty Florida Gators (34-28) team on Saturday night. Both programs last met during the start of SEC play in early mid-March.

In a surprising but overall strategic move, lefty Justin Lamkin will take the mound to start the series. The sophomore actually performed much better against the Gators on March 17, striking out five while allowing just two runs on the afternoon.

If Lamkin can last more than four innings, this provides Schlossnagle with plenty of depth in the bullpen. If a victory on Saturday is in their immediate future, they can start by deploying senior Chris Cortez and reliable closer Evan Aschenbach to potentially close things out and save ace pitcher Ryan Prager for Game 2 on Monday.

With several lineup changes taking effect, sophomore pitcher Shane Sdao and star outfielder Braden Montgomery will miss the rest of the postseason due to injury.

Here is the official broadcast and streaming information ahead of Saturday night’s matchup.

Texas A&M’s Game 1 starting pitcher vs. Florida in the CWS has been announced

LHP Justin Lamkin Will reportedly take the bump against Florida in Game 1 of the College World Series

Texas A&M (49-13) is set to embark on the journey of a lifetime. The Aggies will face the Florida Gators (34-28) in the first round of the College World Series on Saturday afternoon, earning a berth to the big dance for the second time in three seasons under head coach Jim Schlossnagle.

However, amid A&M’s memorable 15-9 super regional clinching victory vs. Oregon on Sunday night, sophomore starting pitcher Shane Sdao sustained a season-ending upper-body injury, joining star outfielder Braden Montgomery on the injury list, as both will miss the remainder of the postseason.

With the pitching rotation suddenly thin, Schlossnagle, who has more than earned the fan base’s trust regarding his decision-making, will reportedly go with lefty Justin Lamkin in a surprise but understandable move, as the sophomore has been up and down throughout the year.

During the year, Lamkin held a 2-2 record, recording 71 strikeouts with a 5.73 ERA.

From a strategic standpoint, Schlossnagle likely feels that if Lamkin can last four to five clean innings, bringing in junior Chris Cortez and star reliever Evan Aschenbach is the path toward victory against the Gators in Game 1. If Lamkin comes through, having ace Ryan Prager available to win the series on Monday, potentially. looks like a very savvy move.

Texas A&M vs. Florida will start on Saturday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. CT. and air on ESPN.

Texas A&M freshman 3B Gavin Grahovac has earned another accolade

Texas A&M third baseman Gavin Grahovac is now a Freshman All-America

With the 2024 College World Series starting this weekend, Texas A&M’s offense will need to rely on the bat of freshman third baseman Gavin Grahovac, who recorded one of the Aggies’ 12 hits in Sunday’s super regional clincher vs. Oregon in one of the more memorable comebacks on the season.

Before the team heads to Omaha, Nebraska, for their Saturday night matchup vs. Florida, Grahovic was named Second Team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), which was announced on Monday.

Earning a starting spot as soon as he stepped on campus, Grahovac, who already has a bright MLB future after pulling his name out of the 2023 MLB Draft, is now the second consecutive Aggie selected as an All-American by the publication. He joins current sophomore OF Jace LaViolette and is the sixth Texas A&M player selected in team history overall.

Already named SEC Freshman of the Year, Grahovac has continued to put up impressive numbers this season, batting .306/.403/.616 and setting a program freshman home run record with 22 on the year.

Among the depth chart, Grahovac is tied for first in hits with 79 while producing 63 RBI.

Texas A&M will face Florida on Saturday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN.

Date, time announced for Texas A&M’s College World Series matchup vs. Florida

Here is the official date and time for Texas A&M’s College World Series matchup vs. the Florida Gators

It’s time to make your plans, as Texas A&M’s memorable 15-9 win over Oregon in the super regional round on Sunday afternoon has earned the Aggies a berth in the College World Series. The series will begin with a weekend matchup against the red-hot Florida Gators.

In one of the craziest comebacks these eyes have ever witnessed, Texas A&M’s Kaeden Kent hit a grand slam in the seventh inning after Oregon’s pitching staff gave up a collective seven walks, leading to nine runs. This took a once dominant Duck’s 8-4 lead to a devastating 13-8 deficit.

Showing immense poise at the plate, the loss of star outfielder Braden Montgomery hinders the A&M’s power at the plate, but if Kent can keep up this level of play, he will be a worthy replacement down the stretch if the Aggies catch fire in Omaha.

However, after starting pitcher Shane Sdao exited the game after just 11 pitches, head coach Jim Schlossnagle provided a brief update, stating that Sdao will undergo an MRI this week while remaining hopeful for a return.

Placed in the second bracket out of the eight final programs, Texas A&M (49-13) will take on the Florida Gators (34-28) on Saturday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN. The winner will take on Kentucky or NC State on Monday night.

Texas A&M baseball lands its first commitment from the transfer portal

Texas A&M has landed its future first baseman through the transfer portal

Texas A&M’s 2024 season has been among the most exciting in several years. The Aggies earned a berth to the College World Series for the second time in three seasons by defeating Oregon, 15-9, in Game 2 of their super regional on Sunday night.

Aggies second baseman Kaeden Kent’s grand slam highlighted a nine-run seventh inning that turned A&M’s 8-4 deficit into a 13-8 lead. Seven walks contributed to the big inning as Oregon’s pitching staff lost the strike zone. Moving on to the CWS, Texas A&M heads to Omaha to open against the Florida Gators this weekend.

Even with the season at hand, head coach Jim Schlossnagle continues to prepare for the future. The Aggies have reportedly added their future first baseman: former Fairfield power hitter Matthew Bergevin. Current first baseman Ted Burton is likely to depart after this season.

During the 2023 season, Bergevin hit .287/.418/.627 and a team-leading 18 home runs. His highly impressive 1.000 OPS infused consistency and power to an already dynamic batting lineup. In an interview with The Eagles’ Travis Brown, Bergevin noted his excitement about working with Texas A&M battling coach Michael Early

“A&M could be in the dang Sun Belt and I’d go to A&M. That was kind of the feeling I got from them.”

With several holes to fill, especially in the bullpen, expect more movement from A&M within the transfer portal this offseason.

Texas A&M is headed to the College World Series after defeating Oregon 15-9 in the Super Regional

Kaeden Kent saves the day after hitting a grand slam in the seventh inning, sending Texas A&M to the College World Series!

In one of the craziest games of the NCAA Tournament and the college baseball season as a whole, Texas A&M took hold of momentum and never let go, defeating Oregon in Game 2 15-9 after scoring nine consecutive runs on seven walks and a Kaeden Hunt grand slam.

Trailing 8-4 heading into the seventh, Oregon pitcher Brock Moore and Jaxon Jordan couldn’t find the strike zone. The irony wasn’t lost on anyone when the Aggies’ struggles on the mound were accounted for, as the tides completely turned in their favor.

Taking a 13-8 lead into the eighth inning, the momentum swing continued as Hayden Schott hit the second two-run home run for the Aggies on the night, adding two on the board for a massive 15-9 lead, combined with the sixth solo shot from Oregon to add a run.

For one of the most patient offenses in the country, the fact that the Aggies were able to walk their way into their first lead since starting the game off at 1-0 nothing in the first isn’t surprising, but this performance was on another level. With 12 hits on the night, Kent’s grand slam was just one of three hits on the night to lead the team, producing five runs, while Hayden Schott finished with four hits and four RBI.

After starting the game in shaky territory, pitcher Shane Sdao immediately left the game after just 11 innings due to an undisclosed injury in the bottom of the first.

This led to head coach Jim Schlossnagle having to use five pitchers from the bullpen, who combined for five runs while allowing three home runs to start the game. Tanner Jones and freshman Kaeden Wilson combined for 77 pitches before A&M gained back the lead, providing Schlossnagle the relief of sending reliable closer Evan Aschenbeck out to the mound to finish things off in the eighth.

As poised and confident as ever, Aschenbeck remained (almost) flawless, recording his ninth save on the year with four strikeouts and just two hits allowed to send Texas A&M to the College World Series for the second time in two seasons.

Texas A&M will now face the Florida Gators, but the date and time are currently unspecified.

Texas A&M OF Braden Montgomery receives positive injury update regarding his MLB future

Braden Montgomery’s season-ending ankle injury was a reported clean break that shouldn’t affect his playing future

The result of Saturday’s first game of the super regional between Texas A&MOregon was the only good news for the Aggies. The 10-6 victory came at a cost: Star outfielder Braden Montgomery sustained a season-ending ankle injury after a base-running error in the bottom of the first.

While no one can be blamed for what was a freak incident, third base coach Nolan Cain’s signal to Montgomery to head home on Jackson Appel’s single set the stage for the devastating injury. Even though the junior’s postseason is over, his future in the 2024 Major League Baseball draft in July is reportedly right on track.

Just hours after A&M’s victory, baseball analyst Jeremy Booth reported  Montomgery’s injury was a clean break that should heal in about a month without lingering nerve-related issues.

As a projected top-five pick in the draft, I’d expect Montgomery, as Booth stated, to be up and running in the early weeks of his pro career. Montgomery ends his Texas A&M career with 76 hits, 27 home runs and a .322 batting average.

Texas A&M junior Braden Montgomery injured in Super Regional matchup vs. Oregon

Texas A&M junior OF Braden Montgomery is officially out after sustaining an ankle injury

On Saturday, Texas A&M’s (47-13) Game 1 matchup vs. the visiting Oregon Ducks (40-18) in the Super Regionals was not the best start for the home team, as the Aggies went down 2-0 behind a shaky start from ace pitcher Ryan Prager.

However, after Jackson Appel hit a single with two men on base in the bottom of the first, one of those base runners, star outfielder Braden Montgomery, was confusingly waved home by A&M 3rd base coach Nolan Cain, which led to the junior MLB prospect twisting his ankle in the process.

Unable to put weight on his ankle or even stand up, Texas A&M’s medical staff came immediately to his aid, eventually placing an air cast on his affected ankle, and being ruled out of the game and potentially the remainder of the postseason.

As more news regarding his injury will be released in due time, Travis Chestnut has replaced Montgomery in the outfield, while Kaeden Kent was moved to second base.

So far this season, Montgomery recorded 76 hits, 27 home runs, and a .322 batting average.

Texas A&M’s pitching rotation vs. Oregon in the Super Regional have been announced

Texas A&M’s starting pitchers vs. Oregon have been announced ahead of the weekend’s Super Regional

Texas A&M (47-13) will host the Oregon Ducks (40-18) in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional Round this weekend. After going undefeated in the Regional Round last weekend, the Aggies will continue their homestay at Blue Bell Park.

In a thrilling display of power at the plate on Sunday, A&M’s offense came alive, delivering a total of 13 hits and five home runs. The dingers were courtesy of Caden Sorrell, Braden Montgomery, Hayden Schott, Ali Camarillo, and SEC Freshman of the Year Gavin Grahovac, who collectively led the team to a 9-4 victory over Louisiana.

Set to face an Oregon team that also went defeated in the Santa Barbara Regional, including a 3-0 victory over the site hosts on Sunday night, the Ducks bring an impressive pitching rotation. At the same time, the Aggies hold the statistical advantage in nearly every category.

However, games are won on the mound, as Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle announced the team’s starting pitchers for the first two games on Saturday and Sunday:

  • Game 1: Ryan Prager (8-1, 113 Ks, 2.53 ERA)
  • Game 2: Shane Sdao (5-1, 55 Ks, 2.61 ERA)
  • Game 3 (if necessary): TBA

Texas A&M vs. Oregon will begin on Saturday, June 8 at 1:00 p.m. CT. and air on ESPN2.
