Texas A&M vs. Oregon College Station Super Regional game time, broadcast info announced

Here is the official game time and broadcast station for Texas A&M’s Super Regional matchup vs. Oregon

Texas A&M (47-13) has emerged as the victor from the College Station Regional with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating Grambling, Texas, and Louisiana in three days. This impressive performance has set the stage for an exciting clash with Oregon.

The Aggies, led by head coach Jim Schlossnagle, are set to defend their home turf in the Super Regional Round. This marks their second appearance in the Supers in three seasons, a testament to their consistent performance. Notably, this is Schlossnagle’s most talented team since his departure from TCU before the 2022 season, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the event.

However, the Ducks may have been the underdog in the Santa Barbara Regional. Still, they also went undefeated on the weekend, easily making their way to the next round for the second consecutive season. On paper, this could be one of the more exciting matchups on the weekend.

After recording 13 hits and five home runs against Louisiana, coupled with elite pitching performances from Shane Sdao and Chris Cortez, Texas A&M has reached a state of momentum. It is looking to match what the Ducks could bring to the table.

Game times are set, as Texas A&M vs. Oregon will start on Saturday, June 8 at 1:00 p.m. CT., while Game 2 is set for Sunday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m. CT., while both games will air on ESPN2. Game 3’s (if necessary) time has yet to be announced.

Here are the best photos from Texas A&M’s 4-2 regional win over the Texas Longhorns

Texas A&M’s (46-13) exciting extra-inning victory over rival Texas inched the Aggies a game closer to winning the College Station regional and moving on to the Super Regional round for the first time since the 2022 season.

Under the masterful guidance of head coach Jim Schlossnagle and pitching coach Max Weiner, ace pitcher Ryan Prager delivered a stellar performance, striking out seven batters on just 87 pitches over six solid innings.

The reliable closer, Evan Aschenbeck, sealed the deal with a four-inning relief, allowing only one walk and resulting in a shutout. This strategic pitching plan has left the bullpen fresh and ready for Sunday night’s game.

Set to make his second start on the mound, sophomore lefty Shane Sdao has continued to show his immense potential after just two seasons with the program. He was named Co-SEC Player of the Week after a late regular season win over Ole Miss, recording seven strikeouts on the day.

While A&M’s offense relied on three Texas errors to earn the win, the hope is that things start to turn around, starting on Sunday night. After the game, here are the best photos from the rousing 4-2 win.

Texas A&M (46-13) defeated rival Texas (36-23) in an extra-inning thriller on Saturday night. The Aggies stay undefeated in the regional heading into Sunday’s final, while the Longhorns will now play Louisiana with a chance for a rematch.

Following the game, head coach Jim Schlossnagle made an exciting announcement. Sophomore lefty Shane Sdao, who was named Co-SEC Player of the Week after a stellar performance against Ole Miss, will be taking the mound on Sunday night. This will be his second start of the year, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see if he can replicate his success.

While the Aggies’ offensive woes hindered their chances at building a sizable lead, three Texas errors led to three Aggie runs, as Ted Burton’s memorable single in the top of the 11th led to a 3-2 and eventually final 4-2 lead as the Texas A&M finally took advantage runners in scoring position.

Texas A&M vs. Texas or Louisiana will begin at 7:00 p.m. CT. and is currently slated only to be available for streaming on ESPN+, but this could change just hours before game time.

How to watch Texas A&M vs. Texas in the College Station Regional

Texas A&M vs. Texas will be broadcast in prime time on Saturday night

Texas A&M (45-13) will face the Texas Longhorns (36-22) in the second round of the College Station Regional, looking to move on to the Super Regional round for the first time in two seasons and stay in the winners’ bracket.

On Friday, both programs impressively rolled past their first-round opponents. The Aggies blanked Grambling 8-0, while the Longhorns exploded at the plate against Louisiana for an impressive 12-5 victory. After defeating Texas 9-2 on the road back on March 5, expect a heated contest with plenty on the line this time around.

While Texas A&M’s regular season may have had its ups and downs, the team’s final game against SEC play vs. Arkansas was a testament to their potential. They re-established their offensive dominance with a 14-4 blowout win. The team’s approach in Friday’s game was a stark contrast, with the Aggies amassing ten hits, led by Ted Burton’s impressive 3-4 performance, and Braden Montgomery contributing three hits.

Initially scheduled to stream only on ESPN+, the game will now be broadcast on ESPN and have a streaming option. Texas A&M vs. Texas will begin at 8:00 p.m. CT.

Jim Schlossnagle announces Texas A&M’s starting pitcher vs. Grambling

Texas A&M will go with Tanner Jones at the mound vs. Grambling during Friday’s Regional opener

Texas A&M (44-13) will open the College Station Regional vs. Grambling on Friday afternoon, set to return to play after a full week of rest, which should be very beneficial for a team that lost two consecutive games in the SEC Tournament.

With the lineup nearly finalized, head coach Jim Schlossnagle has strategically announced his selection to take the mound against the Tigers. This decision, carefully considered and based on potential matchups against Texas or Louisiana, underscores the team’s tactical approach and potential for success.

After transferring from Jacksonville State, Jones saw early success whenever his name was called during the regular season. The Aggies won 10 of his eleven appearances, and he ended the season with a 3-1 record, 6.70 ERA, and 42 strikeouts.

Facing a Grambling pitching staff with a collective 8.30 ERA, including 475 hits and 46 home runs allowed, should give way to the Aggies’ offense producing at the plate and give Jones some comfort in saving arms in the bullpen.

Texas A&M will take on Grambling (26-26) at 12:00 p.m. CT. on Friday, May 31, and will be available to stream on ESPN+.

The SEC historically dominates the NCAA Baseball Tournament field

The SEC has once again dominated the NCAA Tournament field with record numbers

On Monday, 64 college baseball teams heard their names called. The NCAA Tournament field is now set, and 16 regional hosts are granted home-field advantage for the first round of play. A record 11 SEC programs earned a bid to compete for the title.

For those who are die-hard college baseball fans, the fact that the SEC will hose five of the 16 regional sites isn’t too surprising after the season the conference produced led Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas A&M, who earned the first three overall seeds in that order. This is the first time in the tournament that the first three seeds are from the same conference!

Following their conference counterparts, Arkansas and Georgia earned the five and seven seeds. Bulldogs power hitter Charlie Condon led the country in batting average (.443) and home runs with 35 on the year. In contrast, Razorbacks star pitcher Hagen Smith led the nation in ERA with a highly impressive 1.48 mark.

Outside of the five conference hosts, LSU will compete in the Chapel Hill Regional after almost winning the SEC Tournament in a close loss to the Volunteers. The Tigers are still riding the momentum train after almost missing the tournament just a year after winning the whole thing in 2023.

Here are where the remaining SEC programs will face off this week:

  • Vanderbilt vs. Coastal Carolina (Clemson Regional)
  • Alabama vs. UCF (Tallahassee Regional)
  • South Carolina vs. James Madison (Raleigh Regional)
  • Florida vs. Nebraska (Stillwater Regional)
  • Mississippi State vs. St. Johns (Charlottesville Regional)

Texas A&M baseball stays pat in newest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Texas A&M enters the NCAA Tournament as a Top 5 team in the country

Texas A&M (44-13) finished the 2024 regular season with one of the best records in the country. On Monday, it earned the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and hosted the College Station Regional in a bracket with Grambling, Louisiana, and the Texas Longhorns.

On its face, this is a very tough bracket. After the Texas A&M women’s softball team’s Super Regional loss to Texas on Sunday, it’s almost like the committee felt that potentially pitting the Longhorns against the Aggies in a rematch on the baseball diamond was a no-brainer, even though both programs will begin to rekindle their rivalry on an annual basis starting next season.

Entering the tournament, head coach Jim Schlossnagle knows that returning to Blue Bell Park should re-ignite the Aggies offense after recent struggles with consistency at the plate, finishing the year 32-3 at Olsen Field. Despite losing two consecutive games in the SEC Tournament last week, Texas A&M stayed at No. 3 in the newest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Within the College Station bracket, only Louisiana (40-18) is ranked within the poll at No. 23.

Texas A&M will face Grambling (26-26) on Friday, May 31 at 12:00 p.m. CT. The game will be available on ESPN+.

Texas A&M baseball will officially host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament

Texas A&M will officially host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament

Make your plans, Aggie fans, because Texas A&M (44-13) has officially been selected to host a regional in this week’s NCAA Tournament. The Aggies are one of 16 seeds that will host after finishing the season with an impressive 44 wins and 19 victories in SEC play.

However, the Aggies’ finish to the regular season features notable struggles at the plate, as the offense failed to find consistency in two consecutive SEC losses to LSU and Ole Miss before finally re-establishing their power-hitting identity against the Arkansas Razorbacks to finish out the season.

Winning two out of three games, A&M’s 14-4 game three victory over the Razorbacks didn’t create any momentum in the SEC Tournament, but SEC Freshman of the year Gavin Grahovac may have had the best quote of the year heading into the postseason:

“We’ve had a rough few weeks, but we’re still the Aggies, and we’re going to continue to play Aggie baseball.”

On Monday afternoon, the Selection show will reveal who the Aggies will face in the College Station Regional at 11:00 a.m. CT. on ESPN2.

How to watch the 2024 college baseball tournament selection show

What seed will Texas A&M receive in the 2024 NCAA college baseball tournament? Stay tuned!

Texas A&M’s (44-13) SEC Tournament run only lasted two games, losing consecutive contests to Mississippi State and Tennessee earlier in the week. In hindsight, this might have been a strategic move by head coach Jim Schlossnagle to save his starting pitching and provide added rest ahead of the NCAA Tournament.

Now, the anticipation builds as we wonder where the Aggies will be seeded in the college baseball version of the big dance. Exciting projections by D1Baseball have Texas A&M guaranteed to be a top eight seed and host a regional. In D1Baseball’s projections, the Aggies are in a bracket with California, Niagara and, of course, the Texas Longhorns. The potential matchups are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

If the committee sneaks in an early Lone Star Showdown a month before the rivals resume annual meetings in every sport, don’t be surprised. However, this is just a projection. The Aggies could end up with a higher seeding based on their impressive finish in conference play.

The “Selection Show” is slated to start on Monday, May 27 at noon ET and will air on ESPN2. With 64 teams set to compete in 16 regionals, one of the best times of the year will officially begin. Here is the tournament schedule:

  • Regionals: Friday, May 31-Monday, June 3
  • Super Regionals: Friday, June 7-Sunday June 9, or Saturday, June 8-Monday June 10
  • First day of CWS games: Friday, June 14
  • CWS Finals: Saturday, June 22-Monday June 24

Jim Schlossnagle, Gavin Grahovac speak after Texas A&M’s SEC Tournament loss to Tennessee

Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle is ready to return to College Station for the NCAA Regional round, that’s for sure.

Texas A&M’s (44-13) SEC Tournament run ended Thursday afternoon at the hands of No. 1-seed Tennessee, who defeated the Aggies 7-4 behind a late offensive onslaught.

However, the Volunteers only outhit A&M 10-9, so it wasn’t the Aggies’ performance at the plate that was the issue but rather head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s strategic approach to the pitching lineup in the last two days. Thursday’s combination of Brock Peery, Tanner Jones, Josh Stewart, and Weston Moss on the mound allowed six of the Volunteers’ seven runs on the day.

After the game, Schlossnagle met with the media to discuss what’s next for the Aggies ahead of Monday’s NCAA Tournament selection show. Unsurprisingly, the third-year head coach was eager to return to College Station and Blue Bell Park, where Texas A&M ended the regular season with an elite 32-2 record.

“Three of the last four weekends we’ve been on the road, and we haven’t played very well. We’ve earned the right to play at home, so maybe that will get us going.”

Schlossnagle is exactly right. The Aggies have earned a Top 8 seed heading into Monday, and they are guaranteed to host the Regional Round and look to return to the Super Regional for the first time since the 2022 season.

Representing the players, recently named SEC Freshman of the Year, Gavin Grahovic, who hit two home runs on the day to reach 20 on the year, provided a few words of encouragement after the loss:

“We’ve had a rough few weeks, but we’re still the Aggies, and we’re going to continue to play Aggie baseball.”

Here is everything Jim Schlossnagle and Gavin Grahovac had to say.
