Texans TE trolls former team on Twitter following win over Cowboys

Dalton Schultz isn’t missing his chance to troll the Dallas Cowboys following Monday’s win

Dalton Schultz made it clear that he wanted to be with the Houston Texans after a promising 2022 season.

After spending five seasons in the hectic mess with the Dallas Cowboys, he enjoyed the low-down lifestyle in Houston.

It’s clear following Monday’s 34-10 win over the NFC East franchise that Schultz is loving life in Houston. That was only justified after he rubbed in the win on social media Tuesday morning.

Schultz posted a video of him pouring milk into two cups of coffee on his X account. Through the cups, there revealed a hidden message: “The Houston Texans are the best team in Texas!”

Mic drop. The end.

Schultz has been a vital piece to C.J. Stroud’s growth during his two seasons at NRG Stadium. Last year, the 28-year-old hauled in 59 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns while serving as Stroud’s security blanket across the middle of the field.

That eventually led to a new three-year, $36 million extension this offseason, keeping the tight end in Houston through 2026. While Schultz hasn’t been a touchdown machine this season, he remains a top target for the AFC South favorites, catching 34 passes for 343 yards.

The Texans return home for another bragging rights battle against a former Texas-based team as the Tennessee Titans come to NRG Stadium this Sunday at noon CT.

Texans-Cowboys Week 11: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

Here’s the snap count total from the Houston Texans’ 34-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Monday Night Football.

That’s more like the Houston Texans fans expected to see in 2024.

Behind a three-touchdown performance from running back Joe Mixon, the Texans secured bragging rights in the Lone Star State with a 34-10 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on “Monday Night Football.”

Mixon, who’s averaged 101.3 yards per game over his last five outings, finished with 109 rushing yards and 53 total yards while helping Houston break its nine-quarter drought without a touchdown in the second half.

“Joe, when he’s on, he’s a force for us,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. “The run game starts with our offensive line. I challenged them to play fast, play aggressive. I thought they did a really nice job. I really like the way we just kept churning it in the run game, and proud of the guys for stepping up to the challenge.”

Mixon tied a Texans single-game record for rushing touchdowns, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to accomplish the feat. He also secured his 10 rushing touchdown of the season, which marks the highest number of rushing scores by a Texans player since Arian Foster in 2012.

The 24-point victory margin was the Texans’ largest win since a 31-point swing over the Cleveland Browns during last year’s postseason run. It was also Houston’s most lop-sided victory over the Cowboys in seven meetings dating back to its inaugural season.

To emphasize how Houston looked, the Texans’ defense scored as many points as Dallas’ offense in one drive compared to 60 minutes. Defensive end Derek Barnett strip-sacked Cooper Rush in the fourth quarter, but the ball was recovered by Cowboys offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.

The rookie left tackle was then stripped by safety Jalen Pitre, landing in Barnett’s hands en route to the end zone for a 28-yard scoop-and-score.

“They flipped the momentum and got everybody juiced up on the sideline. It was just a huge play,” Ryans said.
Here’s the snap count from Monday night’s success:

Offensive snaps: 64
Defensive snaps: 83
Special teams snaps: 18

Nico Collins, who returned for the first time since Week 5 and finished with four catches for 54 yards, played only 32 snaps. John Metchie III, who caught three passes for 33 yards, finished second among receivers with 39 snaps while Tank Dell was credited with 41.

Mixon, who now ranks eighth overall in rushing yards despite missing three games, saw action on 81% of reps and finished with 153 total yards. Tight end Dalton Schultz was credited with 48 snaps while Cade Stover saw action on 45% of plays.

Defensively, Calen Bullock totaled his fourth straight game with 100% of reps. Derek Stingley Jr, who intercepted Rush and broke up a pair of passes intended for CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert, played 74 snaps along with linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

The Texans return home next week to face off against the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South showdown. They could have back defensive end Will Anderson Jr., who’s missed the previous two games while dealing with an ankle injury.

Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is scheduled for noon CT.

Watch: Texans RB Joe Mixon gets hat trick in victory over Cowboys

Joe Mixon pile drives it in for his third touchdown of the night as the Houston Texans improve to 7-4 on the regular season.

Take a bow, Joe Mixon.

It’s not every day you get the trifecta.

Mixon, perhaps the league’s most underrated extension of the offseason, cemented a Pro Bowl-esque night after securing a 4-yard touchdown run for his third score of the night as the Houston Texans secured a 34-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Houston’s offense has struggled to compete in the second half of games since Week 6. Entering Monday’s game, the Texans had gone eight quarters without scoring a touchdown in the second half.

Even though the Texans didn’t score in the third quarter, Derek Barnett ended the drought with a 28-yard scoop-and-score on a strip sack against Cooper Rush. Mixon sealed off the scoring to give Houston 14 points over the final 15 minutes.

The Texans improve to 7-4 on the regular season and secure their first victory since Week 8. Mixon, who finished with 109 rushing yards, averaged 5.5 yards per run and three scores.

Houston also picked up its first win on ‘Monday Night Football’ since 2018. Even though C.J. Stroud is the head of Houston, Mixon has been the face of the offense.

There are no off days for Joe. He’s always mixing it on.

Watch: Texans get a ‘thicc six’ TD on the big time stage vs. Cowboys

We got a big-man touchdown in Arlington behind Houston Texans defensive lineman Derek Barnett.

The three greatest words in the NFL: Big. Man. Touchdown.

The Houston Texans have one entering the fourth quarter.

Derek Barnett finished the job after forcing a fumble on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush with a 28-yard scoop-and-score. The Texans lead 27-10 entering the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

This will be a play to remember since there were two fumbles on the play. After Barnett jarred the ball loose, rookie offensive tackle Tyler Guyton. Safety Jalen Pitre was making sure Houston walked away with the football, so he punched the ball loose for Barnett to make a play.

Earlier in the game, Barnett was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct call during a Bradn Aubrey 64-yard field goal, which eventually led to a first down conversion.

All is forgiven in H-Town. The Texans are less than 10 minutes away from securing their first victory since Week 8 now with Nico Collins back in the lineup.

Watch: Texans RB Joe Mixon doubles up on TD vs. Cowboys

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon scored his second touchdown of the opening quarter against the Dallas Cowboys.

In less than 15 minutes, Joe Mixon has found the end zone twice.

Mixon nearly scored on the play before but bounced outside after the inside handoff for the 1-yard touchdown run. The best player has both of the Houston Texans’ touchdowns to start the game.

In eight games, Mixon has scored multiple touchdowns in three of them. Mixon now has nine rushing touchdowns this season, matching his total from a year ago with Cincinnati.

Mixon’s career-high for rushing touchdowns is 13, set in 2021. Houston’s running back is seeking to become the first Texan to rush for over 1,000 yards since Carlos Hyde in 2019, also the last season Houston played on Monday night.

Houston held a double-digit lead a week ago against the Lions, before losing on a last-second field goal.

Mixon has 62 yards on seven carries. Tank Dell got involved with a 26-yard reception.

Watch: Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. gets easiest interception of the season vs. Cowboys

Houston Texans Derek Stingley Jr. just made the easiest interception of his career on primetime against the Dallas Cowboys

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

That’s become a common theme for Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., but even the common fan likely could have come away with the recent turnover thrown at AT&T Stadium.

The Texans are up 14-0 entering the second quarter after Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush threw a pick right in the hands of Stingley. There were clear communication issues between the veteran quarterback and All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb, but one person’s loss is another person’s gain.

More importantly, it’s giving Houston another takeaway to an already impressive start through 11 weeks for the defense. Entering Monday, the Texans were No. 4 in the NFL in takeaways with 18.

Make it 19 and a tie for third place.

The Texans are looking for their first win on ‘Monday Night Football’ since 2018. They’re also looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

Watch: Texans RB Joe Mixon continues Pro Bowl season with epic TD run vs. Cowboys

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon scored his longest touchdown of the season on the opening drive against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Houston Texans scored two touchdowns on the opening drive at AT&T Stadium, but only one counted.

Running back Joe Mixon continued his strong start to his first season with the Texans and broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run.

Houston scored on its opening play, looking to get Nico Collins involved early. Collins returned from a five-game hiatus due to a hamstring injury. He took a screen pass to the end zone, but Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil was downfield, so the play was brought back.

The 45-yard touchdown run is Mixon’s longest score of the season and the second-longest run of the year. The former Pro Bowler had a 50-plus-yard run against the New England Patriots in his first game back from an ankle injury.

After the penalty brought back the touchdown, C.J. Stroud completed passes to Dalton Schultz, Robert Woods and John Metchie III.

The Texans are losing to end a two-game losing streak on primetime.

Texans-Cowboys inactives: Who’s in, who’s out for Week 11

Here’s who’s out for the Houston Texans against the Dallas Cowboys on ‘Monday Night Football.’

For the most part, the Houston Texans know who won’t be suiting up at AT&T Stadium on Monday night.

Defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (ankle), defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi (foot) and cornerback Kamari Lassiter (concussion) all were listed as inactive for another primetime against the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie offensive tackle Blake Fisher (concussion) was ruled out before the team left for Arlington on Sunday afternoon.

Cornerback Jeff Okudah was listed as questionable after being limited all week in practice but his status wasn’t really in serious doubt. He’s officially active, along with defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. and will back up Ka’Dar Hollman in Houston’s secondary.

The Texans should have Lassiter back next week after he was cleared to practice on Sunday. Houston has been precautious all season with players in concussion protocol.

On the opposing side, wideout CeeDee Lamb, who was listed as questionable for the week, will suit up for ‘Monday Night Football.’ In 2022 when Houston visited Arlington, the All-Pro target caught five balls for 33 yards.

Here’s the full inactive list for both the Texans and Cowboys. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Here’s what you need to know heading into Monday’s matchup between the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.

The Houston Texans (6-4) will battle the Dallas Cowboys (3-7) on Sunday in Week 11 in a battle for Texas bragging rights at AT&T Stadium on ‘Monday Night Football.

The Texans are coming off a demoralizing 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions at home, which marked their second straight loss since the season-ending injury of Stefo Diggs. What makes matters worse is how Houston had a chance to secure an easy victory behind a dreaded day from Jared Goff.

After forcing five interceptions on Goff, Houston jumped out to a 16-point first-half lead. That dwindled behind two interceptions from C.J. Stroud and a missed field goal from Kai’imi Fairbairn.

The Texans became the second team since 1933, and the first since 1970, to lose a game in which they caught five interceptions and led by at least 15. Previously, teams were 373-1-1 when leading by at least 15 and snagging five interceptions.

Dallas, meanwhile, will be without star quarterback Dak Prescott for the remainder of the regular season after a hamstring injury suffered against the Atlanta Falcons. The Cowboys are currently on a four-game losing streak after starting 3-2.

Will Derek Stingley Jr. play on Monday Night Football?: Update on Texans CB

Derek Stingley Jr. has been dealing with a hip injury leading up to Monday’s showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Houston Texans are gaining back wide receiver Nico Collins and defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. for Monday’s showdown in Arlington against the Dallas Cowboys.

While the duo are a welcomed addition to the lineup, Houston (6-4) could be without two starters in the secondary. Rookie cornerback Kamari Lassiter suffered a concussion during the third quarter of Week 10’s loss against the Detroit Lions and remains in the league’s protocol.

Fellow cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. played through an injury and now could be out for the Lone Star Battle in what feels like a must-win game for Houston.

Here’s an update on the Texans’ star defender heading into their fourth primetime game.

Derek Stingley Jr. injury update

Stingley was listed on the report as having a hip injury and did not practice Thursday afternoon. He returned Friday as a limited participant and was back at full speed during Saturday’s walkthrough.

There’s a chance he still appears on the injury report as questionable, but the former No. 3 overall pick seems to be trending toward playing at AT&T Stadium.

According to KRPC2 Sports’ Aaron Wilson, Stingley is not dealing with anything serious.

Derek Stingley stats

Stingley, the first-round pick out of LSU in 2022, has been one of the league’s top corners in 2024. According to Pro Football Focus, he currently has a 66.8 overall grade and a 65.8 coverage grade.

In 10 games, Stingley has 10 pass deflections and one interception.

Texans CB depth chart

With Stingley and Lassiter potentially out, here’s the rest of the cornerbacks on the active roster:

  • Ka’dar Hollman.
  • Jeff Okudah
  • Kris Boyd

Okudah, who signed a one-year deal this offseason after four years with the Lions and Atlanta Falcons, was designated to return to practice from the injured reserve last week. While he’s practicing, the former No. 3 overall pick has not been added to the active roster yet.

The Texans could also elevate D’Angelo Ross, who was added back to the practice squad earlier this week. He started two games in place of Lassiter when the second-round pick was dealing with a shoulder injury.

Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN and ABC.
