Texas A&M DL Coach Elijah Robinson and the Defensive line meet on field prior to home opener to remember the late Terry Price

Coach Elijah Robinson gathers the defensive line meet on field prior to home opener in honor of Coach Price

While Terry Price will be missed in the locker room and on the sideline, he will still be with the Aggies in spirit all season long. In addition to every player having a TP decal placed on their helmets, the field crew will paint a TP on the field for every home game.

Before the home opener against New Mexico, defensive line coach Elijah Robinson met with his position group at one of those initials in the grass for a few moments of reflection and to honor their mentor, seen on a new episode of 12th Man productions’ The Pulse.

The defensive held the Lobos to under 100 yards rushing for a 2.8 average and held them 3-13 on third down conversions. After a dominating 52-10 win, the defensive line can walk off the field knowing they started the season just how coach Price would’ve wanted.

LOOK: Aggie players and coach Elijah Robinson honor Terry Price before season opener

Prior to kickoff against New Meixco, Texas A&M players and staff made sure to honor one of their own in a symbolic gesture during pre-game warmups.

Before No. 23 Texas A&M kicks off its latest football season, the team and staff made sure to honor one of their own in a symbolic gesture during their pre-game warmups.

Prior to the Aggies’ 2023 season opener against New Mexico, a group of players, as well as coach Elijah Robinson, gathered around the “TP” mark once they stepped foot onto Kyle Field. The gesture was done to honor the late Texas A&M football assistant Terry Price, who passed away this summer.

This marks just the latest salute to Price after it was revealed that the “TP” mark would remain at each home game this season, where he lettered for the Aggies from 1986-89 and coached for 13 seasons. Additionally, the team will wear a “TP” on their helmets all season long. The first sticker placed on any helmet came at the hands of coach Price’s son, Alex Price.

The Aggies’ season opener against New Mexico kicks off at 6 p.m. CT from Kyle Field and will air on ESPN. Fans can find out where to watch, stream, and listen to the action with our how-to-watch breakdown, including the expected broadcast crew.

The Aggie football team will be honoring the late Coach Terry Price all season long

Texas A&M will have Coach Price in their hearts and on their mind all season as they find a way honor him whether playing home or away.

There has been a myriad of storylines around the Aggie program this offseason and deservedly so. They are coming off one of the worst seasons in recent memory, Jimbo has given up the play calling to Bobby Petrino, and the historic 2022 recruiting class is entering their sophomore year with a wealth of SEC experience.

However, all of this pales in comparison to the loss of a beloved Terry Price. Coach Price has a long history with Texas A&M and has worn many hats during his time at the University. After playing under the legends Jackie Sherrill & RC Slocum from 1986-1989, Price would get drafted by the Chicago and spent two years in the NFL before returning to Aggieland.

While working to finish his undergraduate degree he started his coaching journey working under coach Slocum. Over the course of his career, he developed and recruited many players that went on to have successful NFL careers evenly leading him to be named as top 25 recruiter in 2014.

What made coach Price so special was his ability connect with the players through genuine conversation and great Bar-B-Que. The pit master will always be remembered in College Station and every home game everyone will be able to look on the field and still see TP.

Additionally, the football team will wear a “TP” on their helmets all season long. The first sticker placed on any helmet came at the hands of coach Price’s son, Alex Price.

Myles Garrett releases heartfelt statement regarding the death of Texas A&M DE Coach, Terry Price

Terry Prices’ death impacted the entire Aggie community, including former Texas A&M defensive end and Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, who recently released a heartfelt tribute.

Texas A&M lost one of the best coaches and role models the college football community had to offer on Friday, as long-time Defensive ends coach Terry Price tragically passed away at 55 due to complications from Stage IV cancer, leading to nearly every coach and former Aggie football player who had the chance to work paid tribute to the man who many called TP.

On Saturday, former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, who is currently one of the faces of the NFL as a star pass rusher for the Cleveland Browns, sent out a tweet to not only mourn the passing of his coach but remember the man that taught him everything else outside the game, helping mold him into the man he is today.

“I truly cannot express the impact this man made in my life. Not only as an athlete but more importantly as a man, brother, and son. From his commitment to God, to grilling and mentorship, he embodied everything a great man should be. My family and I will always miss his presence.”

Garrett, who was ranked as the No.2 player in the 2014 recruiting class, chose A&M not only because of his family connection, as his sister Brea won a 2014 NCAA indoor championship in the weight throw as a junior with the Aggies, but his instant connection with Terry Price, choosing to stay through this junior season to soak up as much football, and life knowledge as possible.

Please Keep the Price Family in your thoughts and prayers, including Terry’s wife, Kenya, and sons Devin and Alex, as we continue to celebrate the life of one of the most authentic human beings this world has come to know. Gig ’em forever.

Beloved Texas A&M DE Coach Terry Price has passed away at the age of 55

The Aggie community received the devastating news that Texas A&M DE Coach Terry Price suddenly passed away at the age of 55.

The Texas A&M Football program received beyond-devastating news on Friday afternoon, as we all learned that Terry Price, who served as the defensive ends coach since December 2011, passed away at age 55 due to complications from Stage IV cancer, confirmed by KAGS.

Terry Price began his long career with the Maroon and White while playing at Texas A&M as a defensive end from 1986-1989 under Head Coach Jackie Sherrill and R.C Slocum. After earning his degree in 1992, Price’s coaching career started as an assistant under Slocum during the ’92 season.

After a short stint as the DL coach in 1994 with Western Kentucky, Price coached the defensive line under Head Coach Tommy Tuberville at Ole Miss (1995-1998) and followed Tuberville to Auburn for the same position from 1999-2008.

After a brief two-year stay at Ole Miss under Houston McNutt, newly minted Aggies’ Head Coach Kevin Sumlin brought Price back home after initially accepting an offer to again coach under Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech, as Texas A&M’s move to the SEC while returning to his roots was just too good to pass up. Moving from the DL to coaching defensive ends in 2015, Kevin Sumlins’ eventual departure in 2017 led to current head coach Jimbo Fisher keeping Price on his staff for the last five seasons.

On the field, Terry Price was renowned for his coaching philosophy built around toughness and football intelligence, practically trademarking “ya’ll don’t hold back!” during games and practices. At the same time, his recruiting acumen was second to none, helping bring top-tier defensive talent ranging from Myles Garrett to current defensive linemen such as Walter Nolan, Shemar Turner, Shemar Stewart, and LT Overton while placing nine players into the NFL.

According to those who knew him best, you couldn’t find a better man off the field. Coach by day and a Pit Master by night, nothing came before his family, and after watching his sons, Devin and Alex, earn their degrees from Texas A&M, two more goals as a loving Father was achieved in 2023. Price’s three-year journey was helping coach Devin, who was a wide receiver for the Aggies from 2020 to 2022, will always stay in our hearts as one of the truly great moments in Aggie history.

Price is survived by his wife, Kenya, and his two sons, Devin and Alex. Terry Prices’ impact on the Texas A&M Football Program is immense and will be felt for years to come, and he will be truly missed. Gig ’em forever, Terry.
